td 7000 Nakamichi
Strength:
Unmatched sound quality. Period. Nothing compared then or ever will. Nak made the td 1200, but it had major mechanical gizmo problems.
Weakness:
None. Nothing I have ever used on tape will match the TD-700 and a pair of ADS 320i's and some ADS plates. This was what heaven must sound like. Today I am so busy and I lease my trucks for short periods of time, and I work 24-7. I have 2 of these now rare decks that I am making available for sale. $500 each. Well taken care of, like everything I own. One of them was only used for six months, both both are excellent. I have never seen one available on eBay, although I have looked many times. Similar Products Used: There is nothing similar except the Dragon home deck. I loved my first Alpine, I'll admit, but every kid loves his first car. Later in life, if he's very lucky, he buys a new black Bentley sedan and l |

Strength:
Stupid question...cassette tape and Nakamichi???? C'mon, there's NEVER been a better match with ANYTHING ELSE. Other pluses: pre-amp unit, Dolby B/C.
Weakness:
Serious down times and shop expenses. Finnicky eject gear. HORRIBLE quartz clock. There were probably other things, but it's been so long... If you still use cassette (preferably tapes recorded on a Nakamichi deck), and you can still find one in decent shape, it's the best there is. Even if you use pre-recorded or tapes made on decks by other manufacturers, the azimuth control really does help to clean things up. Similar Products Used: HAH! NOTHING compares, except perhaps the 1000TD or MAYBE the TD-1200. |

Strength:
As far as tape decks go. This is the standard by which others have been measured and failed to come close. Nothing today feature wise comes close to Manual Azimuth. Its the equal of being able to manipulate the data stream to the point of adding an subtracting bits at will. Never has jamed or ate a tape. just a simple blessing.
Weakness:
Nothing, form does follow function n this td 700 is proof. bought from my first girlfriend 10 years after I installed in her honda, price...well lets say a little kindness!! Similar Products Used: alpine sony denon. this Is the best period. |

This model listed year 1986 on the Nak unofficial web site is pre amp only, has manual azimut adjustment and plays all kind odf tapes in a really exquisite way(up to 21KHz !!!!!!!).The later TD 700 C is actuallly on catalogue for about 2000US$ in Italy , and buying a second hand one is a good move. |

Have to agree with Andre on this. I have this unit...purchased it in 1990 for $900. This unit is incredible. With the adjustable azimuth head, this player can make ANY cassette sound great. Nice features too. Skip next song, or song(s), listen to radio while rw or ff tapes, and Dolby B and C. |
