everything sound qauality, power, & controll. easy to install and tune {let a professional adjust the settings for competition set-ups its that good of a sound qauaity amp the # competition amp known today!!! also a nice looking amp. chrome & black with gold lettering. {sweet}. you can order them in 2,3, or 4ohm verisons so now that you have and education in quality amps you know what you have to do!!!
Weakness:
there so damm good once you hear them you don't want anything else, thats right these amps will spoil anyone who is a true audiophile. not everyone can afford these amps are everyone would have them, but if you can't get the compotetion amps then go with the ref. series ther're the next best valut to the comp. series ther're about like brax, mcintosh, audison, only ther're a lot less expensive you can get the 1100d for about 900.00 its now the 9.0, but then again nothing else is either so there you have it. see at the world championships in kc mo. on the 22 of nov. 2003 be there are be square!!! hello, this is a spinoff of the article i wrote on 11/09/2003 in the jlaudio sec of subwoofers. these amps are responsible for the boosting of the signal from the f#1 status 7990 & 900 proc. first these are not your budget amps, but if you want the very best in reliability and the cleanest, smoothest, most musical sound quality reproduction on the planet, whoop here it is. now let me back you a bit, it is vital that you have a excellant source, i'd suggest f#1status 1st., then maybe eclipse 8053, pioneer Dp9, or Alpine D900 Dvd player it is 5.1 and has a screen and it is as close as it gets to having sound quality of the f#1status, it has a fiberoptic cable just like the f#1 these are the only alpine pieces with true 5.1 and it d-900 is also xm ready and the f#1 is not that is the only thing alpine didn't include on the f#1, oh well! now back to the amps, these zapco amps are so good i sold my big brax, which in my old set up ran two jlaudio 12w3 d4's in a custom sealed enclosure simular to the one i'm running now. it the brax couldn't touch the zapco 9.0. the 9.0 is the monster of monster and i'm not just talking power either it is rated at 2200 watts rms 2 or 4 ohm and will deliver up to 4500 watts if you do all the little things i talked about in the jlaudio article on 11/09/2003 go and read it next its very beneficial. the 9.0 is neither class ab or d it's a combo of both depending on how you want it to work. its called a tri-path best in the world, all i can say is the zapco comps are the best of best bar none heck the 9.0 evan has its own personal moniter to help tune it. now for the 6.0 and 4.0, i got rid of my big mcintosh so i could ran the 6.0 and 4.0 the 6.0 is a class ab amp and i mean what a amp i have it running a set of focal utopia's 165w two way comp. and man i have heard sweet kick's before but the 6.0 is the perfect match for focal's, dyn's, rainbow's or enen the best comp. out there the f#1status comp. spk. retail for 4000.00 set they are good when i heard my 6.0 take controll of my focals, [the best for the money about 1,100.00 a set], and i mean take controll they are so detailed, musical, and smooth i can't tell a difference between them and my friends f#1status 2-ways in his 500 mercedes-benz in fact he is putting the alpine f#1's in his wife acura 3.2 because he went purchased the 165w's when he heard mine on the 6.0 and 4.0. now he and i both have the 6.0 2ch running the mids and the 4.0 4ch running the tweeters in the kicks and the rear fill 2ch. up front and 2ch. on the jlaudio 650cxi co-ax for rear fill nice and smooth perfect match for the roll off of the jl 12w7 which play from 55 hz. and down. the jl 650's pick up at 100 hz. and sing, sing and sing. these amps are balanced so make sure you do all the little things like electrical upgrade, and good source because i'm telling you, you get out what you put in if its clear you get clear if its bad you get bad. these amps are so clean i car here a beer car being opened on nelly's sony airforce-1, on another song m&m you can here the air cond. running in the background now thats clean power. i have not heard of a zapco comp. amp ever shutting down from mach problems its always been because it was wired wrong are the didn't do the little things like electrical upgrade very important very, very!!! if you do as i've stated you can't get a beter amp than zapco unless you spend 75,000.00 for a krell, 0r mark levinson home amplifier, zapco is the equal no bull, its the best damm amp co. in the world great tech. support and all that. now don't get me wrong theres some other good amps out there and i've already name them in the article,{but if you want the very best that will never shut down not even in 115 degree texas heat after 9 hrs. of cont. play from dallas to new orleans and mean slamming and jamming all the way the amps never got past slightly warm not really ever warm thats a harsh adj. for them but i trying to find something bad about them, but i can't if i did i wouldn't be telling the truith and i don't lie for the hell of it. in concluding i will say these are the best damm amplifier's period!!! trust me! power, ground and remote wire is on the wrong side. especially when the power wire is running on the driver side. Great Amp! Have used it for a long time and haven't even considered anything else. If you want a crap load of power with pure sound clarity then this is the one. The main factor for this amp is the 6 channels. The perfect All-in-one amp. |

zapco reference 500m
Strength:
She is my favorite amp now Crystal clear musical reproduction All my sub do in conjunction with my amp is bump bump bump Small and compact so easy to fit in trunk Considering the fact that in automotive sound system, a good amp will cost around $1 / watt of rms, the money paid was satisfying Doesnot overheat and hence more longer playtimes. I read some place that zapco amps usually operates around 75% efficiency, which I think why the amp has long sustained play hours.
Weakness:
Hard to convince yourself that this small looking amp can bump Needs a good cap to save your electrical system. This black and gray colored, ugly looking small amplifier is one of the best I have ever come across. She is the driving force for my Infinity Kappa perfect 12.1D sub. Wow, it looks like they are both made for each other. The clean tight and hard hitting bass i get from my sub is definitely a work of Zapco. Since infinity is more of an SQ sub (50/50 SQ/SPL is what they say), personally i think this amp works well because infinity can produce the clear crispy music. The only problem i have is the fact that the gain of the amp is turned up not more than 1/4, still she rocks. I will turn it in much further once my woofer breaks in and see how it goes. If you are in the auto sound system for enjoying the music or song this is definietly the amplifier for it. Also hook it up with a good capacitor so that the headlights won't trun into blinkers at night. In a nutshell I am very satidifed with my purchase and would recommend zapco to anybody. There is a good review on this in the follwoing address. Read it before you decide which amp to buy. It did helped me a lot. http://www.rapidb2b.com/ars/column.asp Thanks to Don Schulz. none I had 2 ref 150's running a set of pioneer mid/tweet each. The 750 was running 3 kove kld 12's into a 4ohm load. The highs were flawless, crip clean and detailed. The low were Strong and deep. every thing was ran through the sp4 into the amps via symbalink. The set up was great. I have just picked up a studio 204 & 500 and will be swapping them in. Zapco AG350
Strength:
Zapco is prestigious for making good amps. Not much beats it. It's small powerful and pushes 12's with ease
Weakness:
i didn't have wiring instructions but it isn't hard. I also spent too much on subs trying to find out what this small amp will push. If you can find this small amp that's hella ugly and has a whack sticker than you have just bought one of the best amps ever made. Even with being 4 years old it still tears up all the other 500 watt and under subs. For the price you can't go wrong either. I hade 2 MTX 4000series subs when I was using this P.O.S Pioneer 460W bridged still didn't bump. But then I hooked up the AG350 and it tore the subs apart every month or so I would bring the subs to Good Guys and trade them in for new ones.(I had the 3 year warranty)then I decided to get some Audiobahn 1251's which have a 400 wattr.m.s. and bridged them lets say they just made car alarms go off all the time. But still the amp was tearing apart the speakers at half power. So now I have the Audiobahn 1200Q and it dumps on the L&R sum function. The r.m.s. shouldnt even be close to the max amp power but it still pushes them cleaner then most systems I have seen around. accuracy in sound. power rating seems conservetive.
Weakness:
still looking I am normally not inclined to review products that I purchase and use but after using this zapco competition amp for about three months now I am still impressed with the sound quality every time I listen to it,it is a 150 watt per channel stereo amp and in bridged mode is 600 watts on a 4 ohm load and 1325 on a 2ohm load.I am driving a pair of AIS SV 12subwoffers rated at 350 watts per woofer which I also discovered at this site and am very impressed with them also and reccomend (read reviews).audio has been a passion of mine for 35 years so I know a little something about quality sound and I compare the sound I'm getting from this combination of components to the sound I'm getting from my 18inch Velodyne subwoofer in my living room and am so impressed with the bass quality that I plan on replacing my sound stage amplifier with a Zapco competition amp. also I get plenty of volume from this amp because these woofers are pretty sensitive and not power hungry like so many other woofers.this is all installed in a 1999 E-250 econoline which I work out of. I know these amps are not cheap but believe me you can hear the differance in the sound Quality. Similar Products Used: Sound stream Memphis |

Weakness:
amps need to accept larger power/ground leads To all my fellow Zapco connoisseurs', we are the lucky few who accept the FACT that we own the absolute best car amplifiers in the world - hats off to my brothers! Now, as for what this starry- eyed ZAP owner is running. It's a very simple system, but it suits my purpose which is to enjoy the clearest, brightest, most life-like reproduction of recorded sound possible. If this is your goal than look no further than ZAPCO. I've got one Z50c2 (one of the first 150 serialized, it's a dinosaur) wired in parallel which puts out a very under-rated 50 watts by 2. This juices the Polk/MOMO MM465 6 3/4" mid-bass and MM400 tweeter component system. It's a competition-quality amp so no corners could be cut. All connections are handled by Rockford's gamma geometry signal cable (no symbilink) and speaker wire. These offer the best bang for the buck. Also, Zapco recommends #10 guage or heavier power and ground, don't use anything less than #4, it does make a difference. Pumping the sub (one 12" Rock/Fos xlc) that's right ONE sub, is a more than qualified Zapco Studio100 in a bridged/mono configuration offering around 200 watts. Bass-heads! these are clean lows in a small cab space I'm not trying to advertise my system to the kleptomaniac at the stop light next to me. No built-in X-overs with these puppies, all frequencies are routed by one Audiobahn AX303 this complements the amps perfectly which are set at about 11 o'clock for input sensitivity. Alpine's 7892 heads up the whole operation and starts the signal smooth and clear. The final result? one of the best systems for the amount of money spent about $ 1500 Similar Products Used: Alpine Audiobahn Rockford/Fosgate PolkAudio |
