Powerful, versatile, and clean
Weakness:
expensive and large I have to admit I haven't pushed it very hard. I've run no more than 1 10" ppi pro power sub with the rear channels and my front stage with the front channels. I've blown one 10" that had to be replaced which is bit of a feat, but not for this amp. I'm pretty sure, that if I had to do it over, I'd have purchased something else. It's great, but I there are amps nearly as good at a fraction of the cost. If you can get one for near $500, then go for it, otherwise, shop elsewhere, unless you're dead set on getting the best. CAN GET A LITTLE ON THE HOT SIDE BECAUSE OF ITS LACK OF A FAN I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS AMP OR ANY POWER CLASS AMP FOR THAT MATTER. THEY ARE TOTALLY CLEAN AND YOU ARE GOING TO GET MORE WATTS FOR YOUR DOLLAR BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL UNDERATED. IF YOU WANT A SUPER CLEAN AMP ESPICALLY FOR HIGHS AND MIDS PRECISION POWER POWERCLASS AMPS ARE FOR YOU. Similar Products Used: I HAVE USED SONY AND MTX BEFORE. I THINK POWER CLASS AMPS ARE THE CLEANEST ON THE MARKET |

Strength:
This is a great amp, the best one I have ever owned. The power ratings are under rated and will push extreamly hard for long periods of time. just a great amp.
Weakness:
gets a little hot because it does not have a fan, I push it very, very hard though. I have 2 phonix gold x-max 12" in a q-logic box in the back of my firebird running of my 2100 PPI they are soooooo loud. I'm not just saying taht I hit 137 at the local DB shop. I am not in it to DB drag, but if I was I haven't ever head too many 12 hit that hard. It is because of the amp. It plays loud and clean with no problems ... ever. is just a great amp. If you can find one pick it up it is well worth it. Similar Products Used: I have used everything, power acustic, Rockford Fosgate, crunch drive(good amp if you know how to bridge it right), MTX, Eclipse |

ppi A300.2
Strength:
looks great with the white art series graphics. pounds the heck out of my 2 rockford 12'2. only overheated once because i hooked up 4 12's and dropped the ohms to 1. hits a respectable 300 watts at 4 ohms (i think they are lying)
Weakness:
not a huge fan of the connectors for the speakers put does make switching amps nice, this is a wonderful amp. I have had it for about 3 years now and it still hits my rockfords hard, in fact they are sperating from the voice coil. It shows its age gracefully. I have never turned the gain up above half way because i am afraid that my subs will have a heart attack. i would recomend PPI to any one who wants good clean power. i would say that they are under rated for power but ido not want to be misquoted. The only problem i have is that they day that they will not be stable below 2 ohms usualy. i am not sure whether tha is true or not but i am not going to find out either, the cost to much money to be playing around. right now i am upgrading to either a pc 4400.2 or 4200.2 fro my front stage, and a pc1400.2 for my 2 jl audio 12w3's. i already have a pc225 running my rear fill. give them a shot it is worth it. Strength:
Sharp looking, very clean and accurate, power
Weakness:
Xover is set at 90Hz, but that has been fixed with the new models I have a PC2150. It is driving 2 IDQ 12DVC subs at 2ohm stereo at 300wpc (I know bass is nondirectional, but you never know). I am probably wasting part of the cleaness of the amp by pushing only 90Hz and below, but I have a Mac MC420M pushing my front and rears. This amp gets warm quick, but I have never had it cut off under fairly high volume. I have the gain about 1/2 up and it really blends well with all types of music. Bass is meant to blend with the rest of the music, not the other way around, and this amp is very accurate and yet subtle enough to not blow you out with untimely bass...it blends very well. As you can tell, I am a SQ enthusiast, not a bass head. I am looking to move to a more powerful amp, but I really am very pleased with the PC2150. Very good S/N and THD numbers, and it seems to have a lot of burst power, but it pulls a lot of power as well, so I had a capasitor put in for that. I put it with a Sony c90 and it is very very clean and punchy when it needs to be. I haven't listened to Zapco or some other sub amps, but I am very impressed. Strength:
THE LOOK, THE SOUND QUALITY, AND MOST OF ALL THE POWER.
Weakness:
NONE I GOT MY PC 2400 WHEN THEY FIRST CAME OUT, SO I PAID ABOUT $500 FOR IT. I HAVE MINE RUNNING 4 PUNCH XLC 12'S, AND I AM HITTING 146DB. IT IS RATTED AT 400 WATTS, BUT AT 2OHM STEREO AND 4OHM MONO IT PUTS OUT OVER 800 WATTS. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS AMP TO PEOPLE WHO REALLY WANT TO BOOM! OH YEAH IT WILL BLOW A PUNCH 800 OUT OF THE WATER. Similar Products Used: PC2600 |

1999 PC 1400 Monoblock
Strength:
Extremely Powerful Amplifier. High quality. Looks Awesome.
Weakness:
Nada thing. I paid $399 plus tax at Mobile Audio in Bloomington, IL. I use the amp to drive two 4 ohm 10" MTX 7000 subs (best on the planet), EACH of which cost $250 and will pound out 1000 WATTS. The amp is driving them at a 2 OHM load, providing 200 watts to each sub at 12.5 volts from the battery, to which the amp is directly connected. However, since I have a battery that runs at over 14 volts (INTERSTATE MEGATRON), the amp is likely pushing around 500+ watts. You're damned right I recommend this amp, but only to drive SERIOUS SUBS. Similar Products Used: Nothin' like it. |
