MTX Audio Thunder 8302 Amplifiers

MTX Audio Thunder 8302 Amplifiers

DESCRIPTION

The flexibility starts with the crossover. It's 12dB/octave high pass, 24dB/octave low pass, variable from 40Hz to 200Hz. In low pass mode, the outputs are mono at 24dB/octave. It's highly flexible, with the varying slopes on the low and high pass providing improved "bass up front". The EBC2 port, for easy external bass control is also featured, along with the now-famous Thunder EQ bass boost. Because of the high power output potential of the Thunder8302, we've included our compression circuit. This way, when you turn the volume up very, very high, the amp won't go into clipping during dynamic musical passages (this saves the life of your speakers).

Strength:

Can tune it to your interior a bit via the 1 band eq. Clean output, no audible distortion. hi/low pass switches, rca outputs(with hi/low pass)to add another amp (i like that now I can upgrade if I want)

Weakness:

just the fet I had to resoldier. This amp cost me 68 bucks, I'm not gonna complain TOO much...

I've very satisfied by my pawn shop purchase. I have it wired BRIDGED to a single MTX 6000 10" 4ohm woofer in a ported pyramid enclosure. It's JUST enough power! This thing has a lot of bang for the buck. The only problem I had initially was after I used it for about a week, one of the fets on the board came loose so the amp wouldn't turn on. I resoldiered it and it works great! The beauty of pawn shops. heh heh

Strength:

Power. Cleaness. and the price i got it at. The rubber feet and the nice design.

Weakness:

Iv had the thermo protection kick in and had it shut off before but i dont think it is getting the airflow so i will fix that. the Cross over knob has no indication of the frequncy you are crossing over at. I used the crossover in my deck at 120Hz so that is no problem with my kenwood z919.

I love this Amp. I got it for 114 bucks Canadain with 2 year f shop warrenty because Future Shop sold be a broken MTX RT2400(Open Box). Any how after alot of bjtching i got the 8302. I have it currently on a MTX 12'' 8000, 2002. And wow. My friends are jelous because of the price i got it for and the sound it reproduces. With A class topology it is built quite simple, but the SQ is absolutely amazing. Iv only had it running the sub bridged never run any mid range or tweets so i dont know how it sounds up there. I got 4 gauge running to it with all joints soldered. It is in a 1993 Passat turbo diesel with a 90 amp alternator and a two year old battery. I belive this amp could use a cap seeing as it makes my lights dim. Most cars run 40 amp alternators like hondas or chev caveliers, while some bigger cars or VWs run 90 amp alternators or above.

Strength:

Look unbelievable and there power is, well, AWESOME.

After reading the above review i have to sit back and laugh. The amp was not powerful enough? Can simply tell you no nothing what your talking about, you either expected this thing to throw out 1000 watts or hooked it up completely wrong. All MTX amps rock, and always put out more power than they are rated at.

Convenient EBC (optional), Looks, Good amount of power 425 watts rms bridged 4 ohm

Weakness:

Not many... could be a little bit more power... i barely paid anything so its all good

This amp is pretty tight. I got two MTX thunder 8000''s 12 in subs and 2 Thunder 8302 amps... They seem to be perfect power for eachother, but the subs dont last that long... One got messed up, the dust cap rumbled, and the other one, the tinsel wire got messed up. All together that amp is aight, except that it can only be 4 ohms bridged. It looks tight, and the EBC, external bass control works good.

Weakness:

Lack of power or output in my setup.

This amp was to weak for me. I had it hooked up to my Kicker Solo 10L7 and it was no louder then the Punch 100a2 I have. I had a Soundstream Ref 500sx and that amp could push the speaker no problem in a 4ohm bridge. All three amps were hooked up in a 4ohm bridge and the MTX was just to weak for the price. Nice looking but not enough power.
