Blaupunkt PA4100 Amplifiers

Blaupunkt PA4100 Amplifiers

DESCRIPTION

With constant demands for higher power, today's amps need to run cooler with increased output, and fit into smaller packages for easier installation in today's vehicles. The answer to this dilemma is the new Class 'T' design from Tripath Technologies.

This new technology allows Blaupunkt amps to provide all of the sonic advantages of conventional Class AB designs, combined with the high power efficiencies and low heat dissipation of Class D designs. With this newly patented, single-chip solution we are able to generate 2-4 times the power from a comparable sized amp, but with far less heat. And it runs so cool it can even be encased in a plastic housing. Looks cool, runs cool!

Strength:

Loads of power for your main drivers and tweeters than can't be beat for $300 with clean sound. Accepts up to 5V input Multitide of Conifg options with 4/3/2 channels "Birth Certificate"

Weakness:

Capacitor charge-up noise! No Mono 2 Ohm output

Have used this for over a year and only a couple of bad things to say about it. I have one of the earliest models which apparently had a problem with capacitor charging (esp in cold weather) giving audible clicking sound through the speakers after you first start your amp up. Subsided quickly within several seconds though and does not damage speaker - just an annoyance. I could have had it replaced, but it was the dead of winter and I didn't want to freeze outside to swap out the amp and send back - so I live with it. Sound quality is very good - I drive 4 full range speakers and have a pair of 10" subs on a second amp and the sub amp clips first, and only then AFTER my ears are bleeding. It seems to be a rock stable amp providing more than ample power to drive your 6.5" or 6x9" front and rear speakers. Remote Gain and built in Xover are nice features - but haven't used them. Comes with a "Birth Certificate" individually tested for power output. Mine makes 343RMSwattsx2channels @ 4 Ohms Bridged OR 117RMSwattsx4channels @ 4 Ohms UnBr. OR 176RMSWattsx4channels @ 2 Ohms UnBr. Pretty damn good for $300 if you ask me. Trouble free amp, and I should have sent it back to fix the Cap charge noise.

Strength:

sounded great when it worked, very small and cool running

Weakness:

there must be either serious design flaws or poor quality control.

DO NOT BUY!! I'm just getting ready to take my THIRD one back. First was DOA, second had the rear channels go noisy after about 2 months and this one, the last I will put in my car, has the front's going noisy after 2 weeks! A P.O.S.
