Strength:
Excellent looks and ability.
Weakness:
Admitedlty it warms up, but not really that much. £250 - definately worth every penny. An amp which powers a whole system with power and quality. Similar Products Used: Kenwood 4 channel amp - also good, but not in the same league for power or quality. |

SUCKS UP POWER! Ever since i bought this amp used about a year and a half ago for $280, i have been impressed. It really has plenty of power! I ran 2 vega 128s 12" bridged, and the amp had no problems, i am currently running 2 JL 10W6s in a ported box with it now, and am very impressed. Puts out more CLEAN bass than several of my friends who has 2 12s on other types of amps. The only gripe i have is that it kills my car everytime. 2 minutes with the car off and my system pumping loud, the batts too dead to start the car. I dont have a cap, and my battery might not be good, but it should handle a couple minutes with my system!? Anyways, the performance of the amp is incredible. MRV-1000 is a definate reccomendation. Strength:
power,small size
Weakness:
somewhat expensive I haven't tried many amps, but this one is the best! You can not fry these amps. If the ohm load is too much they just shut down. When you would be frying other amps these are still going srong. I have even hooked up 4 gauge cable to my little t505. At $350 it is the best amp I've used. Similar Products Used: nothing like it |

Alpine name, sound quality, and durability
Weakness:
This amplifier has no weaknesses. I feel that Alpine amps are best suited to component sets, coax's, and midrange/midbass driver amplification... not subs. I wish I could give this amp a 110% rating. There may be better four channel amplifiers out there, but for less than $250 (I bought mine at Circuit City for $218.50 plus tax), it's a steal. As for a sound quality amp, Alpine's 0.08% THD figure at 4 ohms, 12.0 V, all channels driven (stereo) isn't too appealing, but you'll never notice it... I don't. I am running my MRVF-303 into two Polk Audio component sets (see my review on them) and I notice no distortion induced by the amplifier itself. I have an incredible ITT (BMW upgrade) headunit, but it suffers from tape hiss which gets trasferred to the amp... plus the way I chose to wire my project caused some ground-loop noise that I have yet to isolate and get rid of. Yet with this to overcome, the Alpine amp will drive the Polks to their volume limits without any distortion. The amp is rated at 30 watts x 4 (12.0V, stereo all channels driven, 4 ohms), but mine claims 38 x 4 on its test sheet. The amp responds to musical transients extremely fast (indicative of a fast slew rate), has complete broadband power (for deep bass extension as well as amplification for cymbal crashes), and produces no turn-on noise. The amp runs very cool with this configuration (4 ohms/channel) which indicates it will last for several years... perhaps decades. It features high-level and low level inputs so it is very configurable. I probably would not recommend this amp (or any made by Alpine) to drive large speakers (subwoofers) because it just doesn't have "the balls" to control a reactive load such as subwoofers (with their large coils etc...), but for coax's, component sets, and midwoofers, this amp is perfect. It gives you the Alpine name, quality, reliability, and does so at an affordable price. This amp will not disappoint you. Here are the amps it beats in its same power class: PPI, MTX, Pioneer/Premier, Clarion, Rockford Fosgate. If you want a better amp, buy Autotek 'cause Autotek Mean Machines are simply the best, hands down. Again, scary but true, you can find this product at Circuit City... who would have ever thought. By the way, I don't like Circuit City that well, but they are a good source for Alpine and Polk Audio.. so go buy one now. Strength:
Power. So many channels! Clarity, even when wired through the engine!
Weakness:
Heats up a bit I have it in my Toyota MR2, and it drives my whole system. I have it hooked up to my Alpine CD Player and it's running 10 speakers for me!!! Yes, 10 in my little car. I've got the front components, the rear components, and then 2 8' MTX Blue Thunders behind the seats. Needless to say, this system puts out some serious music! I need to upgrade my components on both fronts and rears, and then I'll be entering some competitions! ALSO! My Amp is in my rear trunk, which is big enough to hold a golf bag, so there isn't a lot of air back there to cool it, and that could be my problem with the heating. But also, my car's engine is in the back, so the wires run through the engine compartment. Even with this, the signal is VERY clear! I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to take care of their whole system with just one amp. It's done an awesome job for me, and only the best for my baby! |

no bass boost(although I don't really need it right now, it would have been nice) I bought a V12 MRV 1000 over a year ago from a friend for $300 and this amp has been worth every penny. It is running bridged mono to 2 RF Punch DVC's in a ported box and they hit very hard. It is rated at 400x1 at 4 ohms mono but puts out more power at higher voltages. I have never had any problems with this amp and have been very satisfied with its performance. I had a few minor overheating problems during the summer when I had it mounted in my trunk and played it hard for a couple of hours. I now have it mounted where it gets a little more air circulating and it has been trouble free. I would definately recommend a stiffening capacitator with this amp, it is a night and day difference in its bass output. I recently purchased a MRV F400S four channel V12. I am also impressed with this amp. It sounds very clean and my mids and highs sound very good. I would recommend these amps to anyone and am very pleased with my $475 investment in this pair of amps. Oh yeah, they are the exact same size and make a good looking install. Similar Products Used: none |

nothing Look, I do not know why some of you people down Alpine so much......I bought this amp. brand new for $445.00 w/warrenty.....this amp is rated 150 x 2, 600 x 1 rms @ 12 volts....900 watts x 1 rms @ 14.4 volts..That is @ a 4 ohm load....This amp is 1 ohm stable stereo, 2 ohm stable Bridged............Anyway I had four punch 18"s in a flat wall, just one 1507 v12 on all four of them, bridged to a 2 ohm load, gains turned about 1/4 way up, I hit 156.8 on a linear X spl meter at the last MECCA comp. MRV-F303 V12
Strength:
Clean highs, great power, and very nice imaging upon the dash of my car.
Weakness:
Price My Clarion APA4203 malfunctioned so I went looking for a new 4 channel amp. At first i opted to buy the Alpine F306 Flex amp. I was happy at first until i tried to blast my speakers (the amp powered Boston Acoustics RX67s in front and Alpine SPS-1626s in the rear deck of my 95 Honda Accord). I said to myself, i need more power. So I opted for the Alpine MRV-F303 V12. The same clean sound and nice imaging from the Flex was apparent (after I fixed the phase on the installtion that is, the installer of the amp didn't bother to test the phase for me). Then I tried to crank it, oh boy does it crank. The amp is rated at 30x4 at 12V but the included certificate rates the amp at 42x4 which is a good thing. Overall I am VERY pleased with this amp, the only regret was that I paid $369 for it, but hey, good equipment costs money. Many people dont seem to like Alpine V12 amps because of the 0.08% THD, but I dont care about a little hiss, I barely notice it since I drive 80-90MPH on the freeway :) Similar Products Used: Alpine F306 Flex, Clarion APA4203 |

costly I got this amp about 8 months ago and it's been putting out steadily ever since installation. got it hooked up to the fronts and two VR10's in the trunk. I haven't looked into the overheating issue that i've heard about with V12's but I haven't had any problems yet. It cost me about 550 Cdn for it which seems expensive compared to others i've looked at. Just got another amp, an MRV-1507 for $1000 Cdn. It's not installed yet cuz I need better subs. I was lookin at strokers but now i'm not so sure. |
