Strength:
really power full amp will go against those amps nowadays within $300 price range at local retail stores.
Weakness:
Overheat, power off for probably 2-3min, play another 2-3min then shut off. I had this amp for about 7yrs! came with the car when I bought it. I've been searching for years to look for stronger amp to power my 700RMS Polk SR124DVC. tried some amps are the $300 price range at Fry's Electronic local retail store, this amp will over power those. I used this to push a 10" Kicker L7 before it hit really hard, and I had it running 12v all it life time, just figured out the way to run 14v to it now it giving me 340RMS@4ohms to my sub really do some flexings, and to fix the over heating issue, I drills holes at one end and add an exhaust fan on the other end, and that did the trick, give me nice clean bass through out the trip, I've had never seen it overheat ever after I did that mod, but I'll be modding it more to keep it cool. This is too powerful enought for me to upgrade to anything stronger that will outpower this amp will be like some $400 USA made amps. I'll buy another one to run parallel for more power...
Similar Products Used: S1000.1 Phoenix Gold, Polk Mono Block PA880, were the two amps I bought to replace my amp, but it was even weaker, so had to return it right away.. |

Strength:
Sound quality, power may be more than advertised.
Weakness:
small power, and ground connections. I was borrowing a kenwood 500RMS amp to power my 12" type R in a ported box. I switched to this alpine amp and the sound quality is up there. Bass just stops and starts and distortion is pretty much gone. although i have it bridged for 340 RMS or so, it seems to hit as hard as the 500rms kenwood. Similar Products Used: kenwood KAC-7203 |
