Strength:
dependibility, power
Weakness:
none when compared to a domestic. I'm on 115000 miles and my '03 Tundra still operates like new. Like many other Tundra owners I had minor front brake pulse at about 20,000mi. Dealer turned rotors and adjusted rear brake pads and I haven't had a problem since. I have had the engine light come on twice in the spring and attributed it the gas issues. Reset the light and never came back on. Still has the original battery!

Toyota Tundra Double Cab 4x4
Strength:
Smooth Ride, handling, tight cornering, fast, acceleration, warms up quickly, JBL Stereo system, roomy, comfortable.
Weakness:
A bit of a gas guzzler, 13/18 city/hwy. Difficult to get into for the kiddies. Is WOW a good enough description for you? I've always been a Toyota fan and I can see why through the Tundra. It's defintely the Lexus of the truck world. Best ride ever, smooth, quiet, good handling, incredible acceleration, everything about it is amazing. I test drove a Mark LT the week before I bought my Tundra, and there is just no comparison to the competition, it rules. I got mine pretty loaded, the Limited edition actually. Heated seats, dual climate control for driver and passenger, the 5.7 liter engine, JBL Stereo (which kicks by the way) MP3 player, the works. The room inside this thing is amazing. I have a little girl and the safety seats fits perfect in the back. 3 large adults can sit comfortably in the back which is quite a feat for most extended cabs.

Toyota Tundra CrewMax Ltd TRD 4x4
Strength:
Backup camera option for hitching trailers
Weakness:
Bouncy ride at highway speeds compared to F150 fully boxed frame. Still working with dealership to see if there is a way to soften dampening rates or something. Very noticeable at 60 to 70mph if you have been driving a Ford for many years.
After having four F150s over the past 12 years, I bought a 4x4 CrewMax TRD with Limited Trim. Half of it was I wanted something different, other half is I wanted more power than the F150 to tow a large boat. The major differences from the F150s that I see is the Toyota has much better acceleration at all speeds, less road noise, better brakes, more interior storage space (except under back seat), tighter interior construction and other strengths listed below. Tundra Double Cab 4X4 Limited
Strength:
Smooth engine/transmission, quality, dependable, looks. Love the power back window!
Weakness:
Turning radius, brake pads, gas mileage and initial tires, power for towing. Would like center console redesigned to be more like an office and GPS built in to dash. Tailgate is too heavy! Love this truck and use it in my Handyman business! Ordered it loaded with the DVD system and shell. Get 12/13 MPG in the city. Very roomy for family of 4. Had no issues except initial brake pads lasted on 17.5K and initial cheap Dunlap tires only lasted 34K. However, quality is great. After 3 1/2 years we have 37K on truck. After replacing 2 back bumbers, installed backup sensors! Should have also installed the sensors in the front! Glad we bought truck!!! Tundra
Strength:
Car like ride
Weakness:
The reason you buy a truck is for the hauling and work it can provide. This truck fails in every way. I run a business and this truck is fine if you want to use it as a car. However in my business I need something that will hold up to heavy use. I replaced my ford with this truck and the its falling apart already the rear liftgate. The frame flexes the engine now is soundsing kind of rough. I think I just made a huge mistake should have just got another ford. Why did I switch? Similar Products Used: Ford F-150. Chevy |

CREWMAX
Strength:
Power, cab room for seating and stylish body.
Weakness:
Plastic interior getting tough to keep clean. First truck I've owned and simply love it. At 6'4" I love the interior room and comfort or not having to adjust driver seat if someone is sitting behind me. Very stylish and modern look and I love to drive around with all windows down, even the rear window. Similar Products Used: none |

Extended cab 5.7L 4x4
Strength:
Power, excellent towing capacity, quiet and comfortable.
Weakness:
Hmmmmm, haven't found anything yet. Will see after a couple of years. Too bad the Canadian Toyota dealers are not giving the rebate. No complaints so far - towed an 8,000lb 32 foot trailer through Minnesota, N. Dakota to Idaho, then up through the mountains to Banff Alberta and home. 10-12mpg, same as my V10 Ford, but better power, and am getting about 20mpg without the trailer. Didn't seem to make much difference in mpg on the flat or through the mountains. Tow-haul mode works well, good engine braking. Very comfortable and the quietest truck I have ever owned, the 6 speed transmission probably helps. Excellent visibility out of it and very good headlights - really light up the road, the ditches and the deer on both sides. Bought the Toyota fiberglas tonneau cover - expensive, but works well.

Tundra extended cab 4wd
Strength:
Smooth, quiet and reliable ride. Excellent engineering and 4wd operation. Good value and Toyota resale value Easy to drive great for both work and play. Aethstetically and mechanically pleasing.lots of storage and only slide-down rear window available in model year
Weakness:
Trnamission can feel like you're being tapped from behind at times, cupholder can turn on ac by accident, (oh no!), large turning radius, needs disc brakes all around, almost nothing tangible to keep you out of the driver's seat. Like a Truck that "Reads the NY Times instead of The Post", this vehicle is great for someone who expects quality and wants to reliably get what they've paid for. I wanted the Toyota reliability, and at 30,000 mi. in one year, I've gotten it. The Bed is the longest in it's class, and along with the rear slide down window, has carried everything I've wanted to, and gives the closest feeling of a convertable that one can get in a truck. After driving Fords and Chevies for years, I was afraid this truck wouldn't be tough enough, (and I hear the 07's are even tougher!), but I regularly carry a pallet of wallstone, along with a couple hundred lbs. of tools as well as a three man crew with no problems. And then my wife can drive it to the market without me worrying because its so easy, and enjoyable, for her to drive. Sometimes, in fact, I have to fight with her for who gets to drive it.
