Strength:
Roomy comfortable back seat. Plenty of power and towing capacity. Sterio sounds great. Looks like an SUV with the Snug Top. Double Cab is the best of both worlds. Plenty of room for people, and enough room in the back to haul most things. With added Hitch Hand bed entension even long lumber is no problem.
Weakness:
Clock in a bad location. Some people feel that the ride is a bit rough, but it's a truck. New 2002 Tacoma Pre-Runner double cab. 3.4 V6, Automatic. Silver with matching Snug Top cover. Similar Products Used: Had a 94 Ford Ranger before this. It was a good truck, but not nearly as tough as this Tacoma. |

Not enough accleration but what can you espect from a 8000 truck with 120 horse power I thought this car was gonna maybe run for 75000 miles I really didn't care it was only 8000 and it was so cheap because it was the last one they had because I bought it in January of 95 but man can I tell you what I got 140,000 miles on it and no problems at all I tuned it up at 80,000 miles cost about 150.00 and change the oil every 3,000 miles and it runs great. The funny thing is me and a couple buddys all bought cars around the same time they spent about 10,000 more then me and said my car would brake down in a couple of years and now almost 10 years later my car is the only car that is still running Similar Products Used: chevy S-10 peace of s**! any Isuz |

4x4 SR5 5-spd x-tra cab
Strength:
Strong for a 4-cyl Decient on gas (for a 4x4 truck) 22mpg Can take the beating of a life-time and ask for more.
Weakness:
My only complaint in the beds, I have parts of my bed held together with zip-ties because of the rust. Frame and cab are solid as a rock tho! This old rusty truck is the best vehicle I have ever owned. I bought it with 89,900 miles on it. It now has 146,000 on it a little over 3 years time. Ive probably put only about 500 to 600 bucks in parts into this vehicle in that amount of time. This truck has taken me and my motorcycle (TL1000S) to California twice. The second time non-stop 34hrs of driving both there and back. I also towed a civic on a car dolly to florida and back. That little 4-cyl 22RE motor just doesnt know when to say uncle. No matter how hard I abuse this truck (and I do kick its a** everyday I drive it) it has never broke down or left me stranded. I plan on driving this old truck for another 10 years. I would recommend a Toyota truck to anyone in the market for a small pick-up. S-10, Ranger, and all the others dont even come close in reliabilty and build quality. Hilux (older Tacoma version)
Strength:
Great look, round yet rugged and height above ground was awesome. Good gas mileage. Small and affordable. Will last the next person who is fixin the front a long time. These engines run FOREVER. Good handling in mud and snow/ice and Pretty big bed even with the toolbox.
Weakness:
Cup holder in a not so hot place, blocked the air controls... No pick up and go. Put put... and cant really on uphill. LOVED the truck! Barely any problems bought at 141k miles still runs smoothly even after front end being totalled. Like Shifting gears on the left of the 4x4 gear. Not so much room in the back, but its extended cab not 4 door. Light truck, yet not so hot on pick-up going up hills. Had to be in first gear then possibly second to get up a hill. So really no pickup and go racing in this one. Good gas mileage! 34 highway and around 20 something regularly. I usually got 250 miles to the tank. Wish I hadnt wrecked it. Strength:
Good power for a 4 cylinder. VERY reliable
Weakness:
Absolutely terrible ride. Stiff and totally unforgiving. Going around a corner, the rear end feels like it will slide out and pitch you sideways. If you have the heat or air on at idle, the truck lurches forward at any given moment. I thought I got rear ended the first time it happened. This has been a pretty good truck for me. But, if I was to do it over, I wouldn't have bought this model. See the weaknesses why. |

Looks, Air, Ground Clearance, Value. I expected more out of a Toyota. I think they are getting cheaper over the years.
Weakness:
Cheap Dash!!!!!! Squeaks and rattles, cheap fender flare molding (covered under warr; new clips), poor location of clock, under powered(2.7), No removable tailgate, Center Caps fade (covered under warranty). Overall I am satisfied with the truck. Good looks, mechanically reliable. |

Tacoma Extra Cab SR5 V6 4x4 TRD
Strength:
Just the words "new car" is a pretty good strength. Handles pretty good on back roads for a truck. Factory locker is pretty cool. Bought it knowing how many potential miles I could get out of it.
Weakness:
Cosmetics: TRD Sticker is garbage and will be removed next week & the dash is kinda outdated. Stereo isn't worth much (but I like the speaker locations). Cup holders in the center console kinda suck. My '91 had cup holders that popped out of the dash (much better use of space). I still wish that they made manual hubs for the 4WD from the factory. These auto-locking hubs may be nice, but you would think CV-joints and stuff would wear out faster with the constant spinning (I need more info on converting my hubs to manual!) I've owned this vehicle for 4 days now. I bought it with 6 miles on it and it now has just over 400 miles. So far so good. V6 is pretty quick compared to what I had previously. Smooth on the highway, but I do notice some wind noise. I'd imagine you'de hear tire noise too if you put some mud tires on it. Roomy but I would not want to ride in the extra cab for any length of time. I'm waiting to use it in 4WD till the motor is broken in. I can't wait to use the locker. Stereo is better than they gave you in 1991 or 1984. Good enough for now. Similar Products Used: I bought a 91 Reg Cab 4-Cyl 4x4 8 years ago with 70k miles. Tranny went at around 110k miles. Motor blew headgasket at around 200k miles and again at 240k miles (water pump killed it). Sold it with 24 |

Strength:
quik, no lack response anywhere, holds the backroads well, the mpg not bad at all ddcab is what Tacoma always wanted, the flash and dash makes the $$ well spent
Weakness:
the 4x4 shift in the knee , im 6'3'' the radio/cd poor sound for 6 speaker set I have owned Gm products for just over 15 years . My last was a 2000 GMC Serria 4x4 ext cab. Since I couldnt find the true felling of love in a off road/work truck , I tryed my budget on a real flash of a truck they call Tacoma(ddcab trd 4x4). I love and respect the Tacoma, starts in Canadian winter temps and lookn black and shiny in the summer keeps me cool with all 4 windows down. I have been waiting for the real A-B landslide/work truck and its name is Tacoma Similar Products Used: Nissan , nice sound system no cab room GM s10 ZR2 2002, pig on gas, looks boring, resale is poor |

Tacoma
Strength:
The engine is flawless, four-wheel drive is impossible to lose control with when engaged in two foot snow.
Weakness:
Smelly egg smell when given gas alot I had a corolla before and put 180,000 miles on that 1993 before selling it for $2000 with everything original still on it(muffler, tranny, everything) I chose the tacoma because it had the best ride out of every small truck out there. Its by far the best truck made. I cant wait until i start putting on my aftermarket parts on. I even got $3000 taken off the price of one of my buddy's truck because i left the biggest tire patch in the parking lot of the local chevy dealer because they had us wait for two hours for nothing, then they took the money off because of the truck made their productrs look weak.
