It is truly the best truck i have ever had. It has never had any problems and it has very good features. It's engine is the best one i have ever seen. I t can hold many gallons of gas a tank so i do not have to use as much money on buying gas. It is veery comfortable. It also has plenty of head, leg, shoulder, arm, and elbow room. Ever since i have purchased this wonderful truck it has been easier than ever to get around.

Strength:

Nothing after this week. I guess you could say, "a Revenue Generator for Service Departments".

Weakness:

GM's design and failure rate. What a shame!!! Let's take advantage of our Customers...........

The truck was very reliable until The 36,000 mile marker. (imagine, that!). Currently the mileage is at 42,600. Recently the truck has become difficult to start after the engine is warm. I turned the truck in for service this week while working in Dallas and the following were found to be faulty and the estimated costs to repair. 1. Faulty fuel pump $900. (Made of Gold?) 2. Leaking fuel regulator $114. 3. Faulty ABS computer $735. (Safety item?) I had purchased an extended warranty policy, and found out this week the policy company is in liquidation?????? So, beware. The auto giant seems to still design planned obsolescence and hit the (warranty + 1 mile) marker. It is a shame that design failure is more evident than design excellence.

Strength:

Reliable, good looking, comfortable.

Weakness:

Very expensive to replace accident damaged panels.

I'm writing this as a response to the last few reviews. I've changed my oil every 4000 miles, for 25,000 miles now, and have never had to add a drop otherwise. Never had any troubles at all with my truck, though I'm still miffed that I drove it off of the lot without demanding floor mats. Cheap a$$ salesman.

Strength:

Plenty of power, really nice riding truck for a heavy 3/4 ton. Good looks, always seem to be an eye catcher with people. Lot of room with the extended cab compared to some of the other trucks I tried out.

Weakness:

Only a couple,, that cold start knock or tapping noise, those Firestone tires GM put on them trucks. I doubt that those tires will get 25 to 30000 on them before they have to be replaced because I know some other folks that have not got even that many out of them.

Never had any problems with the truck, but I have only 8700 miles on the truck so far. This truck is not used every day and is usually kept in the garage as I hope to keep this truck a while.I use this truck to pull our 6500 lb camper and it really pulls with little effort compared to the 1-ton 91 ford F-350 I drive to work and use to haul other things in like graval and such. The camper seems to hardly even make it squat down at all even without the weight distributing hitch on it. Only one thing that bothers me with this truck is that it does have that "cold start" tapping noise that other folks have mentioned for about 30-45 sec after start up. I asked the service mgr about it and he said they all have done that but they have never had one come back or had any engine problems concerning that, but who knows for sure. It never has used any oil between oil changes, I changed the oil the first time at 1000 miles then again at 3000, and every 3000 there after. There was a lot of tiny metal shavings in the filter on the first oil change so I was glad to get them out of there quickly. Maybe thats why mine seems to use no oil so far.

Strength:

I like the looks of this truck and the interior is much nicer than my older GMC. I don't have the oil problems that keep coming up in these reviews. I get about 5500 miles between oil changes and it doesn't even get a quart low.

Weakness:

I like the truck so I really don't have much to complain about. I guess the one thing that I would change if I could would be the sound system. The speakers are kind of weak.

This truck is great. I've had it for 6 months 15,xxx miles and it has never been back to the dealer. I think this is a good looking and performing truck.

Strength:

Plenty of power, comfortable for a 3/4 ton truck, good looks, heavy suspension, heavy loads do not seem to affect this truck much, not even a 5700 lb. camper with out the weight distribution hitch hooked up to it seem to set this truck down much.

Weakness:

Really nothing at all so far, I have not had truck back for anything exept to inquire about that "cold start" knock. Thats the only thing that concerns me about this truck down the road.

Truck has the 6.0 300hp. 2WD...Have not had any problems at all so far but I only have 9500 miles on it. I use the truck to pull a 5700 lb. camper occasionly. Compared to the 92 Ford F-250 I still have, it nearly acts like its not even there. So far it has never used any oil at all, always remains full on the dip stick between 3000 mile oil changes. I changed the oil on the first 1000 miles and then again at 3000 miles, although the dealer told me not to or it was not necessary, but there sure are a lot of shavings in there. I would be surprised if I get 35000 miles out of those Firestone tires GM has put on them but I guess that does not have too much to do with the truck itself. It does have that "cold start" knock or taping noise for about the first 30-45 sec after start up. Asked the service MGR about it and he said they have all done that and GM knows about it.He told me they have never had to tear one down or replace any over that but who knows for sure. It may be worth the investment to get the extended warranty just in case, time and miles will tell. This truck is not driven every day, and usually is kept in the garage so it really does not have enough miles on it yet to get a real reliabilty rating.

Strength:

I wish I'd heard about the piston slap problem before I laid out the cash.

Weakness:

Very poor backing from GM. As these model year engines age we'll see how GM's rep fails even more.

Let see, engine knocks at startup, rear leaf springs squeek, from stop to go a noise from the rear end (axle twisting or something), power steering noises turning into parking spaces
