Strength:
-Driving and handling; my wife was worried that she could not handle an SUV. After only driving for a couple of minutes she was a pro.
Weakness:
Excessive wind noise with back windows down. Solution-Hey kids, roll the windows up and leave em up!!!!! Traded in our old reliable Camry for a fresh start with this great vehicle. We have only seen a couple other Highlanders on the road. They are very hard to find with the right equipment. Our dealers in Cincinnati only have one or two on the lot and they are Limited's (Too expensive). We found one with all the right equipment and color we wanted. It didn't even hit the lot. We bought it as it was rolling into town. (Only two weeks after production in Japan.) We choose the 4x2 with a 4 cylinder. The gas milage is the best with these options. So far we are getting about 28 mpg so far. I was hesitant at first to buy a 4 cylinder with such a large vehicle. I have read a lot of reviews that say to go with the V6. I don't agree. If you are not towing or doing any serious off-roading, the 4 cylinder is the best choice. Let me tell, it has power, even with the a/c cranked and entering the highway. We've owned two Camry's; one with a 4 cylinder and one with a V6. The power was the virtually identical, except the V6 was at the pump twice as much. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Toyota quality we have come to rely on. Great fit and finish! Awesome handling vehicle! Corners better than the RX300! Easy on the eyes! Very comfortable seats! Great looking Dash! Good Gas Mileage.
Weakness:
Interior and Exterior color choices limited. Center console is weak! Stereo could have more punch for the $$$! We did our homework. Longer wheelbase than RX equals better handling and cornering for less $$$. Thought long and hard about the MDX. MDX is a great vehicle if you need 4WD off road capabilities and xtra seating! We have a 25 year history w/toyota products... 2 lexus and 4 toyota vehicles. Quality and Value keep us coming back! In the unlikely event you did have any serious service problems Toyota will stand behind thier product. You won't end up feeling raped like I did after my experience W/Ford! If you want a practical SUV for everyday Highway/City driving this Similar Products Used: Own 2 lexus sedans an ES & LS! Drove a RX300 loaner last 2 weeks prior to purchase. |

Strength:
Beautiful SUV! Extra big sunroof, I like having the extra space where the console is supposed to be.... never use the console anyway except to store junk! Love the interior pattern.....got the charcoal grey cloth, have two dogs so dont want the leather. Very, very sharp looking!! Love it!
Weakness:
Price. They are not discounting them at all in our area. The option packages were not grouped in packages that I really wanted. I wish they were a little more broken up. We ended up with the 4WD V6, with preferred package and convenience package. We do have the roof rack, tinted windows, keyless entry, etc. But some things we did want separately (ie, spoiler) were not as easy to get as a separate option. I absolutely LOVE this vehicle!! It is soooooooo sharp looking and drives like a dream!! So smooth!! My dad sells Acuras and this is the first car I have not bought from him in my life!! My husband DESPERATELY wanted the MDX, but I thought it was a little too pricey and the waiting list of 6 months is not very attractive! I actually like the looks of the HL better also!! Love the way it handles and rides. Tight and sound plus great comfort.Lots of room inside. Quiet at highway speeds. I thought my Avalon rode good but this HL outrides the avalon. Nice and plush. Toyota quality.
Weakness:
front cupholders could be better but really no complaints. I have only had this SUV for a while but already love it. I enjoy driving it. The ride and hndling is great. It's looks set it apart from anything else. If you want an eyecatcher get one in sundown red peril coat. When the sun hits it,it glows. I like everything about this SUV and would recommend it to anyone. Similar Products Used: First SUV. Might not ever have another car. |

Strength:
Well build SUV all-around, handles and rides great. Quiet comfortable ride. Knowing it's Toyota and it will last long if taking care off. No regrets.
Weakness:
Base price misleading, too many options jack up the price. To be picky, the D light(drive mode) on the instrument panel little too bright for me. First I wanted Tahoe, but I decided against it because of the gas consumption and poor long-term quality. Than I looked at Lexus RX300, which I really like, but too much money. Acura MDX - I liked the body design better then HL, I liked the bigger size and I really liked the gadget display with all the info as you travel. However the MDX is not build in Japan which means more problems, wind noise, rattles from beginning and finally no deal on it because there is a waiting line to get it. My red Highlander has almost all the options available, no leather (not limited) because of personal preference, $2,500 of the sticker. Nice SUV, good enough deal, I am satisfied and love the car. Strength:
Smooth and quiet ride, Alot of room, Great mobility not heavy and bulky riding like most Suv's. The HL was just great and smooth all around, its the perfect suv, its so similar to the lexus rx300
Weakness:
The freakin price, whats up with these dealers, it either u get the good package or get the plain one for not much difference, Wanted a regular V6 ended up with the limited. Just purchased it and love it, I keep thinking though people e-mail me did i get a good price? I got it well 1,000 under sticker price. What can I say I love this car and love driving it, Its a great suv so people go get it. Similar Products Used: Rx 300 lexus- HL way cheaper for about the same, Mazada Tribute- nah how many mazada u see that last long....Toyota got quality baby! |

Beautiful SUV, sleak lines, nice interior.
Weakness:
So far only one,I have only owned the Highlander for a week now. Upon the initial start up and pulling forward of apporximatley four feet, there is a release noise like a spring. Has anyone else noitced this. We have been told this is the ABS system initalizing the computer and it is metal on metal. I can not believe Toyota would make such an ABS brake system with this noise. We have gone back to the dealer and the service manager found this in another Highlander he drove from stock on the lot. HELP!!!! I love my new Toyota Highlander, but am very upset with the noise and need an it corrected. If this is taken care of I will for sure have this vehicle for years to come. It does need a better sound system and air conditioning, maybe the placement of the air vents would help. Similar Products Used: This is my first SUV. |

Strength:
Smooth, quiet ride/suspension, no sway, great styling (lots of looks), rear seat recline and flat fold, V6(2WD) power serves it well
Weakness:
Price still out of line, AC and Stereo are weak, no back window access, ankle-level console and kills your ears if only one/both back seat windows are open Another quality Toyota product. I was a Honda-ite until Toyota cut a great deal on Camry. Stepped up to styling of HL and impressed. Option pkg between low and high end models slim, but selected 1/2hr off the truck because of Indigo Blue. Did not have sunroof (Toyota s/r are larger than many). Excellent Value, love the moon roof, we were able to the 4x4 with 4 cyl. excellent traction control, great room in front and back.
Weakness:
none at this time We have had 5 Plymouth Voyagers in 20 years of marriage, and it was time for a change. The highlander had everything we were looking for, great mileage, excellent quality, super options (we love the power moon roof),. wide selection of exterior colors. Shopped various dealers, but 4x4 in 4 cyl. hard to find. Subaru Forester was 2nd choice, Honda CRV did not measure up at all when compared to other two. Was not impressed by the Ford. Chev. or GMC. Bought the Toyota extended warranty program. Similar Products Used: Subaru Forester Ford Escape, Honda CRV |
