Montero Sport ES
Strength:
The view from the driver's seat, the storage space and the ease of the seats folding down for more space. Decent gas mileage for an SUV. Still trying to figure out how I got 23 recently on a highway trip averaging 80 mph.
Weakness:
It's a little whiny when you accelerate hard and the cloth on the door sills rubs my arms and elbows a little raw on long trips. The radio buttons are a bit dinky, but I put a CD changer and the controller by the steering wheel for ease of us and it's what I listen to mostly. The resale value is a little low too. I've only had it 16 months and most websites say its worth anywhere from 11,500 to 14,500. At the time I needed more interior space than my S-10 regular cab was giving, and honestly, the Montero Sport was the last vehicle I looked at. I have been very pleased with the vehicle. I've only had it in for regular maintenance and am averaging anywhere from 19-22 mpg. I just wished I'd opted for the LS and gotten a sunroof and leather. Dealer service has been great too. Even when in for oil changes, I've gotten a loaner. Last one was the Spyder convertible. Similar Products Used: I test drove every extended cab truck on the market and even though I couldn't afford them at the time, the Nissan Pathfinder and Toyota FourRunner. All of the ones around here were too hefty in price and optioned-out with junk I didn't want. That's why I opted for the Montero Sport |

Strength:
Looks, quiet engine, room, Infinity stereo, handles well...
Weakness:
none so far... I have heard alot of negative comments on the Montero Sport, but it is the MONTERO which received terrible safety ratings.... This was taken from an acticle I read online..."The safety rating does not apply to the more popular Montero Sport, which Consumer Reports agrees is a very different vehicle despite the similar name. It tested an earlier model of the Montero Sport using the same emergency avoidance-maneuver test and it passed." I love my Montero Sport and would recommend it to anyone! Similar Products Used: Pathfinder (cheap interior) Cherokee (too common and to get any options the Montero Sport has you are spending way more), Expedition ( too big).. I like the Montero best.... |

Weakness:
seems when i hit the brakes the front end dips down. Besides being the coolest looking suv on the market, the sport xls had all the options i needed. I bought it used with 9000 miles in mint condition. This suv rides like a car, with the option to go off road, what more can you ask for. Similar Products Used: durango-total crap |

Great looking truck. Plenty of head room and storage. Good price.Good milage
Weakness:
cup holders. So far so good. We bought the truck for my wife as a daily driver and as a family car. Steering is loose but thats expected from 4WD. I love the roominess and the headroom. Sound system is so so. We plan many trips to colorado to visit family. Looking forward to the handling in the heavy snow and steep hills.I am also going to buy a battery tomarrow from sears. RESALE VALUE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!! I went to a Toyota dealership after owning this vehicle for 1 year, it had 23,000 miles on it, and they offered me 12,000 for it. Needless to say I laughed and will be keeping it till the wheels fall off, and so will you. (Unless you pay cash :) ) This is probably the nicest looking SUV currently on the market, with the exception of the new Acura MDX. All the uneducated reviewers running their mouths about the safety are WRONG. It is the MONTERO with the awful safety rating. Not rommie and style interior If you buy a car from this dealer caution they will make you pay more than what the car is priced. Go to another dealer where management is friendly and they know how to take care of buyers. Similar Products Used: none |
