Strength:
I see few praises on here, but the complaints overwhelm praises here.
Weakness:
I am surprise to see more complaints over praises with the M-Class. I am planning to buy a 2000 ML320 next week and would appreciate any input or recommendation from any ML320 owners. The car I'm planning to buy has 19,000 mi. I am planning to add a CD changer also, can I put a non-Mercedes make CD-Changer in the car or do I have to go with factory make ? Please email me SaigonVic@Yahoo.com for any comment. Similar Products Used: RX300, QX4, RODEO |

Great handling! MPG not bad. I get 15 city, 20 highway. Small exterior size, generous cargo space. Safety.
Weakness:
Workmanship. Materials. Design details. I was beginning to lose faith in Mercedes Benz after living with our ML320 for 18 months. But after driving the C240 (loaner car) I realized the problem is the U.S. made ML320. I really haven't had that many problems with the car but I just expected better workmanship and materials. The C240 is the vault-like car that a Mercedes should be. The ML, well...it's more like a GM or Ford. Some of my problems: broken glove box hinge, broken black plastic trim piece at right rear corner, wind noise from right rear window, center console leather cover bubbling up. Design goofs: Power windows and sunroof too slow. Accelerator action very rough (no fine control at low speeds). Too hard to reach radio volume control from drivers seat. CD changer too hard to get to. Too much cheap plastic. Similar Products Used: First SUV. Test drove RX300, MDX, and Tribute. The ML was the best. |

Strength:
The ML320 is comfortable and fun to drive.
Weakness:
The ML320 is utterly unreliable. On its way home from the dealership for the first time parts of the ML began falling off. This was an omen of things to come. It has suffered every imaginable problem from sensors, electrical, transmission, Air Conditioner, paint, tire alignment, brakes and too many other things to list. The reliability of this car is so bad that we take our Ford Taurus on all trips over 100 miles. Before we created the "100" mile rule, our ML broke down three times on a drive from TX to VA. Each time the failure required a tow truck causing us to miss days of vacation. Although the warranty has covered the endless repairs, the ML has cost our family thousands of dollars in wages since my wife (car's owner) is a contractor. The dealership has been unresponsive to our plight and has lost what was a loyal customer. This was our family's fourth Mercedes. We will now be buying BMWs or Lincolns. Believing that Mercedes was synonymous with quality, we purchased a Mercedes ML320 in 2000. This was our biggest mistake of the decade. Similar Products Used: This was our first SUV. |

Do not know where to start. I am not a complainer as I have enjoyed cars which cost $ 15000 too. $ 45000 piece of junk on 4 wheels. 1. (Sports Package) Fog lamps had water in them after a car wash. 2. Wipers were changed within 2 month 3. Music System (Bose) was changed within 7 months. 4. Every door creeks (New beading has been installed) 5. Now it is in the shop as the window does not go up 6......just wondering what next Similar Products Used: Jeep Grand Cherokee (Rate this as a 6 out of 10) Toyota 4Runner SR5 (Rate this as a 8 out of 10) |

To many to mention
Weakness:
Like all luxury type vehicles, always to expensive I think this is a great vehicle, no complaints, I am not surprised to see the number of complaints because people with car problems look for a place to complain, most people that are happy car owners keep it to themselves, a handful of complaints, thousands of m320's around the world (I guess) Similar Products Used: Range Rover |

It''s something specail to have especially here in Ford country for about the same cost if not less. For an at home mom it''s a nice alternative to the dreaded mini van. Don''t ask me about power and all that, I just know it feels nice to drive and really looks good all cleaned up. Which I do all winter long. We have trailored a Porsche, a jet ski and used the ski and bike racks off the hitch which is a nice set up.
Weakness:
My model doesn''t have the pockets in the back of the front seats like dad''s did and I wish for my son''s safety that the middle seat had a shoulder belt instead of the lap which the newer models now do have. And of course a few too many trips to the dealership. I keep telling myself that the problems that I have had are due to the fact that I have a first year model. After reading the other reviews, I''m not so sure or that bad off. I now have almost 52,000 mi. and almost afraid what this car might cost me to keep. Plus the re-sale is not as good as I would expect a MB to get. The truck has been in the shop six times. I had a water leak in the rear, the fuel sender replaced three times, the front transfer case needed replaced, the rear wiper motor failed, recalls on the trip computer and a seat buckle recall, replaced a window power switch, bad seal in headlamp and a spot of rust on the back lid at the hatch handle seam. The most recent debate is to see if MB will cover my gas cap that is rusted through at the bottom seam. The dealarship (not where purchased due to logistics) told me that MB would not cover it due to the fact that I was 1400 over the 50,000 mi. warrenty. Originally I was told a claim was submitted and after waiting four weeks and three phone calls later they never submitted a claim. The service manager took it upon him self to deny me approval from MB. I am now waiting to hear from the area rep for his opinion. Growing up my father had two MB''s and I expected the same satisfaction. Then I ask myself if it''s because it''s an American made MB and not German. Or if it''s the sign of the times like computers and software that is turned out before it is perfected. Similar Products Used: Ford Bronco II, Isuzu Rodeo and Jeep Liberty. |

bad seat form on long drives. raddles all over the car after 6000 miles. poor window power going up. hard to get to spair tire. I bought the car new at David R McGeorge. Ther car ran good for a while tell the fule line started making noise and had to go in for a few days. I got the car back and the passenger seat started raddling, I took it in and they fixed it, Then they call me to tell me they bent our door off the ML. I had to wait like another week tell I got the ML back. I then had electrical problems with the controler antena. I took it againa and again. I dont even like to drive the car at all. I now have 8000k miles and the car is raddleing in the rear, the car is making a strange smell when I start it. I should have gone with the in infiniti QX4. I have a relative with one and he has 240k miles and very few problems over the years. It overheats a little in the sand but that is ok for that amound of miles. If I could take it back that is the way I would go. I hope to get rid of the ML soon. Don''t do what I did and get the ML. My friend has a 430 with many many problems too. If you do go with this suv remember me, I told you so. Similar Products Used: infiniti QX4 (nissan pathfinder) |

Quality I am very unhappy with my ML320. It has so many problems that I don''t enjoy the car anymore. The very first day, I could not start it. I had to bring for repair. Then, the windows did not close. I had to bring for service again. Now, discover that the rubber frame of windshield is cracked. Also, the leather seat has a scar or some defects that would not be expected from MB. When I came to my service center, I was told that all M-class cars have the windshield crakes, and the leather has a defect but will not be changed. Why do I have so many problems? |

Weakness:
The list is too long. I would have to say this has been the worst experience I''ve ever had with a car. This is the most expensive and worst vehicle I''ve ever owned. The odomoter just hit 40,000 and I''ve had the following replaced: Suspension rebuild Power window control panel replaced Torque converter replaced Entire engine replaced - Oil consumption problems. Brake problems - Rubing and squeeking Electrical Gremlins Odor- Smells like plastic burning The problems have been so sever that Mercedes paid my lease payment for three months in an effort to apease me. At this time I have 16 months left on my lease and I am trying to get them to take the car back and put me into another vehicle. Not a Mercedes.
