Strength:

A small size car with a big car interior, great gas mileage, great get-up and go, comfortable drivers seat w/lumbar support and ROOM FOR ALL!

Weakness:

Road noise--I believe the road noise is attributed to the tires but is not overbearing. Maybe more sound proofing?

Purchased on 6/10/02-went on vacation 6/21 and returned 7/7. Logged a little over 3,000 miles and not a single problem! Perforned flawlessly with mileage 21 to 24 mpg! My 2nd new Mazda & 4th owned. Special thanks to Charles Cain for making a sale that was a positive experience. Also thanks to Gloria DuMars for her expertise in handling the final paperwork.

Comparison shopping consisted of utilizing the internet and then to the various dealers and sat in all seats for comfort (both front & rear). I choose Mazada for comfort, price and quality.

Strength:

Strong engine, rides well, hauls a lot of stuff. Looks great!

Weakness:

Some wind noise on the highway, but that's what the 6 CD player is for!

I love this car/truck! I bought the first one that came to town in Oct. 2001 and have put over 53,000 miles on it. It provides everything that I needed: good performance, smooth ride, lot's of room and it looks good. I have not had any issues with it (knocking on wood). Great vehicle!

Strength:

The in-dash 6 disc CD player is great. The adjustable lumbar support that they added this year is great for long rides.

Weakness:

The car came with two manufacturer's defects. They were minor and easily fixed. It was an inconvience.

This is my second Tribute. I bought a 2001 in January of '01 and racked up 40,000 miles in a year. I loved the Tribute. After being in a third traffic accident with it (never my fault), I decided to trade in my Black LS for the Blue ES that I wanted last year and could not find anywhere. I have driven 1500 miles and love it. The leather seats have now broken in and feel great. I can't get over the room in this thing. My husband and I have moved a sleepsofa and a queen headboard in it. Where else can you get a V-6 engine for that kind of money?

Strength:

Good looking, nimble engine. Fun to drive. Decent gas mileage (calculated about 21 mpg on highway speeds w/ AC). Very roomy back compartment when back seats are down for storage. Excellent lights.

Weakness:

Quality seems overall pretty good. However, after washing it the other day, I noticed a screw was missing from the side trim above the running boards (piece was loose). Gear shifter somewhat awkward. Leather seats are nice, but a bit stiff.

Despite the concerning reviews that I have read regarding stalls with the Mazda Tribute, I have had mine for about 2 weeks, and placed about 1,000 miles on it without any problems so far. Overall, looks great, peppy engine, good ergonomics, and fun to drive. Very good SUV for the money for those looking to buy a new SUV. Had to wait 3 months as an order from the factory (it was loaded), and seems to be worth it.

Did heavy research into all SUV's. Acura, Lexus, Infiniti way OVERPRICED. Ford Escape has cheap plastic bumpers and other parts. Jeep Liberty would be other alternative, but reliability may be a nudge

Strength:

Looks; v6 engine; ride; function

Weakness:

wind noise over 50 mph; engine has stalled twice at 40mph; mushy transmission stick; no rear vents

About 4 months old. Still the best-looking small SUV (champagne color). Great responsive engine, but I've had stall problems mentioned by many others. Why hasn't Mazda/Ford fixed this yet!?!?!

Strength:

I used to love Mazda and my truck. I am going to miss her.

Weakness:

The transmission just DIED!!! It is a 2001!!! The part is too new to be carried in stock but it is no longer under warranty.

My Tribute's transmission just died at 53,000 miles! It just died out of nowhere without any warning! I have no reverse and it slips from a dead stop. And get this, I am no longer under warranty but they have to special order the part!!!

Strength:

Drives and handles great. Room galore for backseat passangers. Controls and mirrors are laid out well. Lots of storage compartments. 2 power plugs in the front and 1 in the rear, can't wait to use these on a trip for my son's gameboy! The price is really unbelievable for what you get!

Weakness:

A little windnoise from the front driver's side and front passanger side windows.

My husband and I have test drove just about every suv and car out there in the past 4 months and when we test drove the Tribute we knew that we had found the replacement for our aging Mitsubishi. It really does handle and ride like a car! It had all of the options that we wanted, most were standard, and the price was soooo nice. We have power everything and a fantastic stereo with plenty of room in the console for storage. One thing that we had to have was room and we definetly found it with our Tribute! Our son plays the tuba and it actually fits in the back without having to put the seat down. No more riding to concerts with a tuba bell in my lap! This vehicle would be great for just about anyone I think. I'm fairly tall and have found riding in the Tribute to be comfortable. I can see it having more than enough room to accomodate child seats and pets. Our salesmen was very courteous and knew more about this vehicle than any other salesman that we had encountered (at any dealership!)during our quest to find a new car. We got a fair price and did not feel like we had just been "taken for a ride." We would highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice vehicle to look at the Tributes. And if you live in the Birmingham area, take a trip out to Trussville Mazda, they were really great!

Strength:

Pick up is amazing, drives like a sportscar, it is so light, nimble & quick. Beautiful looking inside & out. Came with: tow pkg, sun/moon roof, alloyed wheels, leather,in dash 6 cd changer, pwr driver seat, door & window locks, sun glass storage, split back seats fold down indvidual/both, or simply recline for relaxing, fog lights, when you look at the front it smiles at you.

Weakness:

Gotten used to it now, so not a problem but **The gear shift is a little long. **Does not have recycled air, all air/air condidtioning is outside air...bad fumes when traveling near smelly bus or truck. **Better weather stripping is needed on back lift up window as it is not strong enough to keep window from touching door and scratching the paint a bit, in time it will be a problem atleast for me as I am pretty picky about scratches & dings but it is not going to be visible to anyone else. I will just know it''s there. **Came w/FIRESTONE TIRES--4 tires & 2 WERE PROBLEMS, right after purchase front tire punctured very easily, was told it was a stick or twig, well even in the mountains there was no off roading always stayed on paved or dirt roads I am not careless, tire plugged, on the road again, then couple months later aprox 2inch slit on the side of back tire, was told it is superficial and will last the life of tire and it was caused by a road hazard, neither Mazda nor Firestone were willing to help with this, was told I had to purchase another tire or live with it. Never liked Firestone had them in the past and the sides split then, On the driver side so no I did not run into t

I LOVE my MAZDA TRIBUTE, It is truly a dream to drive, it fits, you get in & it drives you, no thinking required-almost-don''t want anyone to think it''s always on cruise control to be honest I have never used it. It will just Zoom Zoom Zoom past even...never mind. People are quite surprised I must say. It looks awesome covered in dirt upon it''s return to the city after a day in the mountains (yes up a mountain as well) or the desert, after a playful day it is shiny and new with a simple wash. It is then very classy & elegant looking for a night on the town I don''t let the valets park it if even though I know they want to...
