Strength:

Lost cost. (you get what you pay for) Looks nice.

Weakness:

Suspension is horrible. My son gets sick when we go for a 10 minute drive. Noisy inside.

100,000km Warranty!! Perfect - you're going to need it if you buy this car. It's been in the shop more than we've been driving it. Headlights, tail lights, sunroof, tires, stalling while parked or stopped at a light........the list goes on. And the service at Scarboro Kia - well that's a real treat. However the service at Durham Kia (Oshawa) has been amazing! I would recommend them to anyone who lives in the area if you're in the unfortunate situation of owning a Kia.

Strength:

Looks nice and is comfortable.

Weakness:

Power steering went out within the first 2 months. Drivers side door lock doesn't work (won't lock) - I've had it replaced twice and it's broken again. The gas mileage is TERRIBLE! But, the worst is what I am going through now. My daughter was in an accident on June 20th. My car is still not back because the collision center is still waiting on parts! The manager of the collision center told me that with any other manufacturer, he can get parts on the same day he orders them - it's Houston and there are TONS of car dealers / parts houses. He told me that Kia is the worst to work with. Not only is is to quote him "like pulling teeth" to get any parts - they also have a goof distribution/delivery process. He can only get parts delivered from Kia on Thursdays. So, no matter when the parts come in, he can only get them on Thursday. Unbelievable! My insurance covered a rental car for 30 days, but that ended almost 2 weeks ago and the collision center is telling me that they probably won't get the last part they need from Kia till next week (Thursday) so I am looking at an additional 30+ days of rental car expenses because of Kia. The collision center manager told me that if I had ANY other brand of car, it would have been repaired and returned to me in 3 weeks. I will be getting rid of this thing as soon as it gets repaired.

Never again. I will never waste my money on a Kia again. In fact, if I ever get it back from the repair shop, I will go to the nearest Nissan dealership and get rid of it!

Power/strength, handling and Style...

Weakness:

Low quality on some other minor details that will need attention....

I love My Sportage,10 months now and it is great !!! However, though I love the Sorrento I also own, we have had problems that are really annoying...I've been back to Kia at least 7 times in the 18 months we have owned it for the dumbest of things !!! Radio replacement twice, Seat and air bag sensor replacement, and rotor replacement for the brakes twice now...these problems are starting to overshadow the great styling and comfortable ride. I probably would buy another one down the road but much thought will have to be put behind it!!! The fact that I'am a hunter and love the ability to actually take it off road versus all these phony 4x4 pretty boy cars that would bend and twist keeps me coming back. Just be ready to visit the Dealer for some stupid crap in the first 30,000 miles or so...RJP

Strength:

Comforable ride

Weakness:

Great warranty but only if the dealership deems the problem worthy of being covered by their primary selling point, the warranty.
Road/wind noise from sun roof.
Poor gas mileage

I have loved my Sorrento until recently when I had and continue to have MAJOR trouble with the dealership honoring their "infamous 100K mile warranty". The dealership is blaming me and everyone else for the rear end oil fill plug coming out and causing me to replace the rear end of my brand new KIA which has less than 20K miles on it.
The service manager at the dealership where I purchased it, refuses to believe that it could possible be a warranty issue. He is quick to blame "whomever" changed the oil last when I have proof that the Red Arrow Quick Lube did not even check the rear end differential. It is Red Arrow's policy to never check the differential on vehicles with less than 30K miles on them. It is my and my mechanic's opinion that the rear end fill plug was loosened and/or never checked when the car was checked in new at the dealership. I have had to contact the local newsmedia regarding this hopefully to get some help from the negative publicity this will cause the dealership.

Strength:

Nothing.

Weakness:

After 3 days, the right side headlight was leaking. I had to wait more than a week. Alarm system has been too sensitive. I fixed it more than 5 times. My neghbor is still annoying me.
6 Months later, I found Check-Engin Sign and RPM was UP and Down in highway, finally, the car was stucked.
People in service center are very very unfriendly. Remember, it's very expensive car compared to other SUV.
MPG is horrible, too.
I got 14/MPG in highway.
If you are loaded and have plenty of time, please buy this car.

Model Reviewed: Kia Sorento

Strength:

Extremely nice styling on the exterior. Very comfortable to drive. Michelin tires. Regular gas. Beautiful leather interior and nice cockpit arrangement. The 3.5 liter engine is ample for the weight. Very stable on the road. No leaning around corners. No wind problems. It has everything the Lexus or Acura has and costs several thousand dollars less.

Weakness:

Although it came with an in-dash CD changer, the stereo system could be a little stronger.

This is my first SUV. I previously drove a Cadillac El Dorado, then a Lexus 400LS. I reviewed every SUV on the market and drove several before choosing the Sorento. One of the main reasons I chose the Kia was because of the reviews on this website and others, such as Edmunds. Another reason I ended up with the Sorento is because I felt I was getting a lot more "luxury car" amenities for the money. I usually buy cars that are two to three years old, but there so little difference in the price of a two year old Sorento versus a brand new one that I opted for the new one in order to get the factory warranty (which I've been told isn't transferrable to a second owner.) I'm extremely pleased with the vehicle so far. The fit and finish is excellent. The interior is gorgeous. Everything works exactly like it's supposed to. It rides quite comfortably, more like a car than a truck. I'm also very happy with the service I received from the dealer during the purchase. I originally purchased the LX model to save the cost difference between it and the EX (about $4,000). However, after getting it home and finding out that it did not have a lot of the amenities I was used to, i.e., automatic headlights, electric seats, leather interior, I decided to call the dealer and see if they would allow me to "trade up" to the EX, even though I had already completed the deal three days earlier. Needless to say, I'm happily driving the EX, and they were more than happy to let me change my mind. One other aspect of Kia that I particularly like is the 10-year, 100,000 mile warranty and the 5-year, 60,000 mile road service that is standard with their products.

Model Reviewed: KIA Sorento EX

Strength:

Engine Power and 4 wheel drive capabilities. Very smooth acceleration and handling, especially on mountain roads.

Weakness:

Floor Mats should be darker colors so they won't show stains and dirt so easily. My model has light grey interior and mats.

The Sorento is very quiet and easy to handle. We like the modern body design and the interior is very comfortable and relaxing. The standard features of this vehicle and the 10 year warranty provisions, make it well worth the price we paid.
