Strength:

Ok I don''t know why some people are saying that its not comfortable in the backseat. Plenty of leg room and I love the way the seats recline, ok I''ve never owned a vehicle where the backseats do that I guess i''m pretty easy to please. The over all look says it all, I mean I have never seen a vehicle that screams LOOK AT ME quite the way the V does without even trying.

Weakness:

I''d have to say is the money issues its caused. Oh not THOSE money issues, the other ones. For some unknown reason either I or my husband runs out of SOMETHING just about every single day eat out......or the gas tank is a quarter short of beand oddly enough we find ourselves running to the grocery store all the time!!! Or we suddenly get cravings to eat out or we better go get gas the tank is a quarter short of being full....

Ok if you want to read the technical stuff this review is not for you. Let''s just say I have never been that into cars and trucks in other words I never really knew what I would end up getting for my first REAL ride. Hey i''m only 22!! But let me tell you the last time I saw this puppy which I think was a year ago, can''t really remember cause I''ve only seen like THREE in my entire life, I knew ours would be a love to last a lifetime:) I knew I must have scared the owners pretty badly. I was driving in town on the way to Walmart and I happened to get behind one, and I felt like my heart was going to leap out of my chest because I hadn''t seen one in a year or so, and I had NO IDEA what it was. I just knew that I wanted one. I wasn''t wearing my glasses at the time so I could barely read what was written on the back of the door. I was almost kissing their bumper before I could read the word Izuzu, yeah i know my eye sight isn''t the best. See even a blind person will love (or hate) the look of this thing!! Well maybe not blind:) Well at the risk of giving those people a heart attack I didn''t follow them to their parking space when we both turned into the walmart I went one way and they went somewhere else. During my entire shopping excursion all I could think about was that Izuzu-whatever-it-was. I knew I would get one someday when I happened to get behind them AGAIN (by accident I swear!!) when we were leaving the store. From that day on I kept a look out for one but I never saw one again until this year I drove onto a Izuzu dealership and they had one in the showroom. A black beauty it was!! Unfortunately the dealership was closed and all I could manage was a drive by drooling:) And when i did go back it was SOLD!!!! Oh I couldn''t believe it I was so sick!!! So about a month later I drove back and just as I was about to drive off the lot I caught a glimpse of one sitting on the back row beside an izuzu trooper, an olive green one. Once again the dealership was closed. However,No way was I gonna let this one get away and I went back with my husband the following saturday. I never in a million years thought they''d let me take it. Sure my credit was excellent but I was still kind of fresh in the game. My husband kept saying are you sure, Oh I was sure alright and the papers were signed and that badboy was mine!!! Oh I was so happy!! Still am, No regrets.

Strength:

I''ll list them with comments: - The look It is the most unique thing on the road. I get looks all the time. People are straining like I did the first time I saw a VC. Its styling will be fashionable for a while. - The interior The is remarkably spacious inside. On the outside it look small, but has great leg room, even for the back seats. The Recaro leather seat are super. Most people that stop to look inside say it is the first car that they like the outside and in. - The Ride If you are a drag racer this car is not for you. But once it gets going the VC is quick, responsive and nimble for a APV. I had owned a 2000 Nissan Maxima and I have not lost much in the way of passing speed and manuverbility. I am an aggressive driver and this still meets my needs. - Handling. It turns on a dime! The Jeep Wrangler has a great turing circumference, but the VC more than meet that challenge. It has off road power and hightway handling.

Weakness:

There are some. Like all vehicles you need to be prepared for them. - No interior latch release You have to get out of the car and open the back hatch. No idea why they thought this was a good idea. - Hard to get into the back seat It is tight! Large people should just sit in the front. The height of the vehicle and tight space between the front seats make it pretty hard to get into the back. Once there it is cool, but.. Women with skirts should also sit in the front. - No cup holder! I know, I know, no one should be eating in your VC, but at least on cup holder would have been nice. - Stereo is good not great. Maybe this bothers me a bit coming from a 2000 Maxima that had a Bose 6 speaker system. And the knobs are too small. You will get used to it though. It is more than adequate, I guess. - The rear visibility. You thought I wouldn''t mention it huh? It is a fault but IT IS NOT A BIG DEAL! You get used to using the side mirrors and it is not a big deal at all. But it is a downside.

The first time I saw the Vehicross about a year ago, I was floored. I think I strained my neck trying to look at the car. I search all over Atlanta for a test drive but there were none available in the whole city. So recently I have been looking for an SUV. So I searched the net for anything, used or new. the closest one was in Kentucky, 277 miles away from my house. One day before I was going to drive to Kentucky to take a look at the VC, I stumbled upon a new 2001 black VC sitting on chrome in the back of a dealership I just happen to be driving by. I took it for a test drive and 2 hours later, drove it off the lot! I absolutely love this ride! It is a joy to ride. Since I had done extensive research (including reading the review on this site) before I even tested rode it, I was prepared for all its documented faults. What I did not expect was to totally love it positives! As a friend of mine said when he saw the car: "Yo, this car is COLDBLOODED!!" That means good for the "hip impaired".

Strength:

Unique appearance, off-road and bad weather performance, good sound from the stock stereo system.

Weakness:

CD changer is finicky. Power windows have been a problem for some. Don''t expect to get much for it when you trade it in. (I plan to keep mine for a long time.) And of course, rear visiblity is poor, but this is solvable with VanEyes (see other reviews).

I recently purchased a 2001 Foxfire Red VehiCross and am very pleased with it. Drives great in any weather conditions and should be excellent off-road as well (I''ll find out next spring). No problems so far, but if you consult the VX forum at club.vmag.com, you will see several things to look out for (and this is a great resource if you are thinking about buying a VX). It''s not a perfect vehicle, but it is distinctive and versatile. I recommend it, particularly as a second "fun" car. I am somewhat vain, I suppose, but I love being seen in a unique and good-looking vehicle, and this one certainly fits the bill. The VX is rugged and fairly quick for a SUV. Some have said that it handles like a sports car. Well, not quite (my other vehicle is a Miata), but it does hold the road well and accelerates nicely, especially in passing situations. Body roll is minimal. It has enough cargo space for my needs and the back seat is rarely used. It''s not a great car for a large family. As you probably know, Isuzu is no longer making the VX. But 2001 models are still available, and at good prices. I got mine for around $25,000. If you''ve wanted one but were scared off by the 30k+ sticker price, now is your time to buy.

Jeep Wrangler. The only advantage of the Jeep over the VX is the pleasure of topdown driving. Too bad Isuzu never put the VX-02 into production.

Strength:

Power, Handeling, power everything, appearance, recaro seats, etc

Weakness:

No rear side latch, can be hard to see out rear, front panel could be classier, didnt come with a woman that looks as good as the vehicle(except when my wife is in it of course =) )

Finally a sports car with the KO punch of an SUV. If you want an Family SUV this aint it, but if you want a tough vehicle that handles as good as its power, and still be able to fit the family in if needed this is it. If your like me in your 30''s that has a family and want to keep your youth as well as make the wife happy than you found your Vehicle. Stars gallor from everyone, feels and looks like a car for the higher classes, and the ride is pure joy on or off. I think of it as a tank on a corvette chasis. It isnt goona beat everything on the road, but overall off and on road it cant be touched I LOVE IT!!!!!!

Strength:

Esthetics, design, originality, comfort of Recaro seats, steering, almost all options are included from the factory,

Weakness:

Lack of rear view camera and dash monitor as available in Japan; small radio and CD player controls; tailgate should lock, unlock, have interior and exterior releases, and be connected to alarm system; vehicle should include remote garage door opening kit for key button; key fob should not swing and bang dash; source/description of "resin polishing agent" for fender flares should be suggested in owner's manual.

It is difficult not to be obsessed with this vehicle. Adorable, magnetic, yummy, indestructable are all adjectives that come to mind. It is much more fun to own a "concept car" that actually works than a much lower production car just because there are few made (i.e.: Rolls Centennary edition--10 in the U.S.) It will be enjoyable to try to overcome its few shortcomings. Buy it immediately if you are young at heart--don't if you are notimmediately in love at first sight!

Everything...

Weakness:

None

The four wheel drive is excellent w/limited slip differential, powerful 215hp engine, great stereo...
Obviously some people that are rating these have never taken one off-roading (Joe from Texas), but they are extremely capable, much better than my old wrangler. The mirrors fold in, the turning radius is tight, I can go through just about anything in this car, not to mention its on-road abilities. It's also quite a good climber. There aren't too many sports cars that can drive through mud pits, and there aren't many SUVs that can weave through traffic with ease, this car has both qualities...

Strength:

Looks REAL cool.

Weakness:

I can't seem to think of anything other than the price itself...wished I can afford one of these awsome machines.

To all that it may concern,

I'm the REAL Manny and I really would buy the Vehicross if I could've afforded it. I don't know about what this imposter is saying in the previous message, but I know for a fact, from other Vehicross owners, that the Vehicross is practically maintenance-free. It sheds no oil or whines at high speed like my imposter claims. In fact, it's quite the opposite. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a fun and cool looking vehicle that likes the attention it draws. As for me, I'll just have to stick with my Suzuki until perhaps one day I can either afford it or the price may come down. Which may not happen anytime soon.

I give this ride the highest rating for the quality workmanship, the design styling, the uniqueness, and the handling and speed on and off the road.

Strength:

Fabulous in almost all areas. Most impressive is the over-all quality feel and tightness of the VX, evidencing the precision of workmanship on these partially hand-made vehicles. I love the styling of the Vehicross concept and it turns all heads. This does not drive like a truck. Outstanding brakes and true car-like handling. The 4-wheel traction provided by the Torque-on-demand system instills supreme confidence in the driver. Recaro seats are top notch; fine sound system with truly unique 6 CD stacker. Power to spare; a friend of mine described it during a recent ride:"it's like a bullet flying down the highway".

Weakness:

Difficult to see out of rear window. They market the VX in Japan with a closed circuit rear-mounted camera system and on-dash TV screen for the best rear visability available on any vehicle. We need it here, too.

Paid $28,122. I found the vehicle on the internet and had to drive 90 miles, but I got a great deal. Worth every cent; I have no second guessing of my purchase.
