LOOKS GREAT! Girls liked it with top down in the summer....in fact girls liked it with the top UP in the winter.
Weakness:
Early models underpowered. Looks Great! Runs Great! Girls love it! Other than a clutch & slave unit replaced, it ran 65k miles while I owned it with no problems...in addition to the 50k it had on it when I bought it. At 110,000 miles I blew the head gasket, then traded it after redoing the head. VERY dependable. Similar Products Used: It was my first car, so no comparisons....but all the girls always like to ride in my car when we went places. NOT in my friends Toyota pickup. NOT in my friends whimpy Hondas. |

Isuzu Amigo
Strength:
Great offroad and more than enough power to go around, comfortable on long drives, and great handling. The soft top is exceptionally quiet at any speed.
Weakness:
The rear window on the soft top is not easy to see through in the winter, especially when it fogs up or snows. I have had my Amigo for almost 2 years now and I have nothing bad to say about it. Since I have gotten it I have done some modifications to it, but even bone stock it is a very capable vehicle. The soft top is exceptionally quiet at any speed and easy to open and close. Coming from the factory with 205HP, the Amigo really gets up and goes when it needs to. Over all, Isuzu did a great job on this one and created a very capable off and on road vehicle with the comfort and features of a car. Similar Products Used: The Jeep Wrangler is under powered compared to the Amigo and there is not much room for more than two passengers and the soft top is pretty noisy and hard to put up. |

Amigo 4x4 v6 Softie Automatic
Strength:
STYLE, POWER, Fun Factor, Reliability, dare I say more? I love being able to drop the top, and at the same time, it is probably the best engineered top I have ever been subject to at highway speeds. You can still carry on a normal conversation while cruising down the turnpike. Try that in your J**P. Power is more than sufficient for city driving and paired with the slushbox, hill climbing and rock crawling off road are practically effortless. The top IMO is far easier than a J**P to take down (although, the Chrysler product has a roof that comes COMPLETELY off, the Amigo with top down and sunroof out is plenty airy). Plenty of room for gear storage, and the back seats are comfy once you get back there.
Weakness:
Dealerships and aftermarket support. Most dealerships are rude and obnoxious...but aren't they all? I have never had a good dealership, not with any car I have ever owned save for Old Mill Toyota in Omaha NE. I absolutely LOVE this truck. I use it as my daily driver and trail rig, it takes me where i want to go, when I want to get there. I still get asked "what kind of truck is that?" and I love answering. Similar Products Used: Jeep YJ - a gazillion times quieter on the road. Just as capable out of the box off the road. Better warranty, and better gas mileage. So far, the Zu has proven to be more reliable as well..but we aren't even near as old as the Jeep was getting ;) |

4 cyl 5 spd soft top
Strength:
Ride quality, open-air fun, price, warranty. This thing is no Mercedes on the road, but as far as open-air sport-utilities go, IMO it blows the Jeep out of the water, and toys like the Tracker are no contest. Won't be able to do much off-roading (couldn't afford the 4x4 and the insurance that goes along with it) and I assume the Jeep is a little better at that because the Amigo's got the IFS, but that's not an issue for me.
Weakness:
Acceleration, but I didn't buy it to go fast. Anyone know an easy way to get the sunroof in and out without thinking that you'll drop it or scratch the paint just in front of the sunroof clips? Haven't had it too long, but I am very happy so far. I have always wanted a convertible, and this is about the most affordable on the market right now. With this, who in the world would ever get a Cavalier covertible anyway? Compared to Jeep Wrangler SE, then got upset with the Jeep dealer - said he could match the Isuzu's price, then I had to pay extra for carpet, rear seat, high-back front seats, cloth front seats, radio, nickle, dime, nickel, dime. Unfortunately common for an American car dealer. Plus, Jeep couldn't come close to Isuzu's financing offer. I didn't need any options on the Amigo except air conditioning - all the basics that were "options" on the Jeep are standard here. Similar Products Used: Far better than any competitor for the price and for what I needed. Hope it holds up. |

Stout body appearance,Easy to drive and handle,Size is in between the Rodeo and Kia sportage.Bigger than a wrangler.Looks good and very reliable.
Weakness:
Back seat has enough room to sit 2 adults comfortably but getting back there is tough. Great strong stout vehicle. Great ride Similar Products Used: Drove Jeep Wrangler,Cheeroke and the Amigo is a better ride and is bigger than the two. The interior is styled after the Rodeo so it has a new look. |

Amigo
Strength:
Design is great,Controls inside are easily accessable, seats are comfortable including back once you get in. Things are reasonably easy to get to in engine to change. Battery, oil, air filter etc. Great horsepower, fun to drive. Lots of good options offered if wanted.
Weakness:
Coolent overflow cap leaks. Had it changed 3 times still leaks. That bugs me because I like to keep my engine clean. Had trouble with squeaky brakes but that was taken care of after a couple trips to the dealership. A switch went out after 29000 miles in transmission and car lunged when it would shift to different speed. Again the dealership took care of it after 3 tries.Very hard to get in back seat. Also wish one of the back windows would open. I'd trade that for one of the sun roofs. Could use some extra insulation on sun roofs for Arizona people. I improvised and made my own. Now my Amigo is cool and comfy. The main thing I liked was the sporty looks of the Amigo. It looks like a fast little buggy. The second was the horsepower. I was impressed because no other small suv came close. Most of the larger suvs don't come close to its 205 horsespower. I added a air filter which seemed to boost the horsepower some. I could tell a difference right after I put it in. My Amigo came fully equiped. There were a few things I took out like the head rest for the back seat. They made it hard to see out the back window. Also the plastic cover behind the back seat. I have more room with it out, and since my windows are dark tinted you can't see in anyway. It really gets up and goes when you need power and turns on a dime. None of the others I drove came close to this liile suv. It is a bumpy ride but I found it quite fun to drive. The seats are very comfortable to me also as I have a bad back. It goes just about anywhere and can get out of really tight spots. Its great for parking too, just the right size especially when downtown. Similar Products Used: I test drove the Lexus R300, Mercedes 320, Toyota RAV, Honda CR-V, Chevy Blazer 2door, and Jeep cherokee |

Strength:
I really liked it when I bought it. Even through the 1st year. but after the timing belt incident.......not so sure....sounds like crap, you can hear every lifter when taking off. (sounds like a sewing machine)
Weakness:
Timing Belt broke! A factory defect in the tensioner caused timing belt to break damaging the engine! $2,399.00 to repair at the dealer. @ other shops couldnt do the work due to special tools required for timing. I like My Amigo. Better ride quality than a Jeep. I recommend the V6 Similar Products Used: Just received a Recall on the tensioner, hopefully Isuzu will re-imburse me for the repair. This may improve my rating slightly. |

XS
Strength:
It is very quiet, the heater works great, and I love the looks. My XS has a brushguard, lights, rims, 30x9.5x15 mud tires, and a sun roof. I have found my 2.6 liter 4 cyl to be very quick and reliable, it does what it's supposed to do every time, all the time. The convertable top comes off so much more easily that a Jeep or Samuri. The ride is very smooth, and the vehicle seems to be built very solid. I can't say enough good things about it!
Weakness:
Yeah, getting into the back seat can be a little tough, and the 2.6 liter is crammed into the engine bay making it a little difficult to work on. I have only had my Amigo a few months but I LOVE it! It looks great, and has enough power to take 4 adults up the mountains skiing or camping. The XS interior is functional, and it's very capable off road and in the snow. I wouldnt recomend it for taking the boss out to lunch, afterall it's not a Lexus, but if you like the open air, young, fun, feeling you get from driving in the mountains with the sunroof out, the top off and Van Halen on the radio, get one!
