Strength:

I bought it used with 4300 miles on it, I mention that because of the color. It's bright silver.. it's ok.Overall, I love it, all wheel drive, radio, handles great, gas mileage 23-26 on the interstate at 65-70 mph. Great storage in back... alot of car for the money.

Weakness:

Took it into the dealer for wind noise around the windshield. ..still there.

Would buy again, but saw the new 2011 KIA Sportage... wow its beautiful. I saw alot of Santa Fe in the style inside and out. Would like to sell my Chrysler Pacifica and buy wife a Sonata Limited..Keep up the great work Hyundai

Rides very smooth, nice cargo area, handles nice, the over head clock and over head lights are nice and so is the storage above your head

cannot take corners fast or sharp, very bad gas mileage, had to have normal repairs, but than the transmission went out and now it is the shop, who knows how much that is going to cost. no place to put handbag up front, to big a console in between the front seats, not usable,

Strength:

AWD with lockable 4WD. High clearance. Great turning radius. Good dash visibility and good heat and air

Weakness:

Drivers seat should move back further. Gas mileage. Less sluggish shifting. plastc door handles (appear cheap) no mp3 jack

I bought this because I needed a car and live on a God awful hill in the winter not to mention I do a bunch of hiking and kayacking parking in some odd off the road locations. I have the AWD with lockable 4WD opption I have yet to use the lockable option I have driven up my hill in at least 3 snow storms without the aid of any road maintance this is a marvel in itself. I had to drive my mom home one night in a snow storm and passed numerouse cars stuck on one of the hills in town. I was also able to easily navigate my mothers road with no road maintance. I has a sufficient amount of room and my teeanager loves the reclining rear seat. The dash is visible in all lighting conditions. Love the blue dash. the plastic door handles worry me a bit but with the warrenty on it they can fix it. A bit more power would be nice it is a little sluggish on the shifting. I am however used to a standard. Gas mileage leave a bit to be desired at an average of 18mpg although that beats the 12 mpg my mom gets on her Durango. The rear seats fold quickly and easily to make an almost flat surface for more cargo space. I am thouroughly enjoying the higher ground clearance since I tend to wander down dirt roads and into fields for parking. The turning radius is great. Easier to park than my camery was and that was pretty easy. Wish the drivers seat went back a notch or two more. I am 5'8" and I'm sure guys bigger than me would apprecaite a bit more leg strectch although there is plenty of leg room just not a strectch. Power ports all over the car were a hit with my girlfriends kids on a 4 hour drive. Heat and air conditioning with either roast you if you want to be cooked well or send snow flakes if you like. The Teens like the door mounted heat and air vents for the back seat. The dog also likes it lots of doggie DNA on my windows Over all I like it so far.

Strength:

it was really cheap so no big lose when you sell it

Weakness:

interier, lack of power, gas milliage, cheap manufacturing

The car appears to be nice and seems like a great deal. Once you drive it and spend more time with it you relize just how much of a pile of junk it really is. Every part and piece that is part of this car is cheap. The seats are horribly uncomfertable. The thing has ebsolutly no power. i have driven it from iowa to washington state then to california and i have been unhappy with the fuel millage and power through the hills. I can understand slowing down a bit going up long hills. With the Santa Fe ot has down shift to 3rd and run high RPM just to try to make it anywhere.

Weakness:

Air Con not good enough for our hot climate.unable to find anyone who can repair it so i am not confident to drive it anymore in case it breaks down again

bought this car as used, it had just completed its 5 year warranty and came from the UK.started off very good then the clutch had to be replaced, a few months later the engine light came on and the car losts it acceleration mostly on hills and during gear changes. The garage i used was reccomended by my company so i did not use the main dealer reccomended garage, anyway he told me that nothing ever goes wrong with these cars !decided to pay myself and use the main dealer who said that after the computer check i needed a new accelorator senser, i ordered and paid for that , but the very next day it did the same again just lost power on a roundabout. He changed the oil cleaned the filter, charged me again and yes its done it again, no idea what to do now.

Strength:

Styling and comfort. Heated seats and leather - why did I not get these options sooner!! Has some guts to it. Very quiet ride! Despie my problems I would buy another one in a heart beat but would find someone else to do the warranty work

Weakness:

The biggest weakness I have come across - service. If your buying one - ask them to throw in your own personal mechanic to be with you 24/7. Taking it to the dealer is pointless - they'll look at it, clear the codes and send you back on your way without actually doing anything. Otherwise be prepared to put up a hugh stink to get it done....but have another vehicle because it will take them forever and they never have a courtesy car available! Personally - I have left my second vehicle there now as my own personal courtesy car!

Brought this vehicle used - at first I loved it. Has great features - sunroof, leather, AWD, 3.3L V6, tow package, third row seating and to many more to mention. Then it started...first the external temperature gauge said it was +27 all the time (In October in Canada? Yeah right!) After FOUR trips to the dealer, they figured out they had the wires crossed. Next - I took it for an oil change and had to go back due to violent shaking on the highway - they could not figure out how to PROPERLY rebalance the tires. Then my tranmission was slipping - they fixed that with a little spray of WD40!! THEN my check engine light kept coming on, the vehicle was running very rough and gas mileage was awful. Just got back from my third trip to the service department - most likey not fixed. They said it was fuel pumps (so they cleaned the contacts), maybe bad gas, then it was the throttle body and speed sensor. Oh and did I mention my front struts are leaking and the stabilizer bar was banging around?!!
Now I love this vehicle, I just wish I could drive it more often. I'm sure it was built on a monday - everyone else I have spoken to our shocked at the problems I'm having. They say their Santa Fe's are the best vehicle they have brought and never have any problems at all! This one has spent so much time at the dealer - they know me by first name and my VIN off by heart. Their idea of a fix is awful and they have to call Hyundai engineering everytime. Shouldn't they know this stuff?

The ride is great, the stereo is good, absolutely in love with the heated seats and sunroof. Only used the third row seats a couple of times - bit hard to get into for adults but kids love it. Handles nice and winter roads don't phase this suv. Safety everywhere you look - airbags all over the place. ABS makes a lovely grinding noise felt through the pedal - not sure about that. Comfortable and sharp to look at.

Strength:

Pretty reliable, roomy, handles nicely.

Weakness:

brakes!

Was pleased, till I started hearing the brakes squealing at 16,000 miles. Took it to the service dept., they said there was a lot of dirt build up, causing the brake lining to completely wear down. I was told brake lining should last at least 30,000 miles. The service dept. charged me $133.00. I feel there is a design defect, if you can't protect the brakes from dirt.
