Strength:

Nice smooth,quite drive
Super Brakes (maybe to much)
NON auto locking doors ( If I want them locked I'll Lock them)

Weakness:

Needs a Hatched rear window.
Accessories very expensive. (Honda)

Great Small SUV,Loaded and a Great GPS
system.Milage could be a little better
19-20 MPG. The people that don't like this small SUV ,wouldn't like it, if the truth hit them in the face.
FACT is this is a great car ,with lots of power, and very nice heated leather seats.
I would go for honda to have a hatched
back window, and a little better MPG.
But over all Great SUV.

they are cheap, but you get what you pay for. remeber that.

Weakness:

very dificult for my wife to take the baby in & out. does not have a practical design. and it feels like fake leather.

gas milage on the honda pilot is very bad, do not believe the adds, i was looking for an suv that does very good gas milage, after seeing a few major reviews from major websites(now i know they are paid by honda), they all talk about the great gas milage. well its a big lie. do not go with the honda pilot you will not be happy. if your thinking about gas do not go with the honda pilot. 10-15 miles per galon. besides that the car is not so great, if your geting leather think again it feels fake. look elswhere.
btw if you call honda they will tell you sorry we dont guaranty what we say. i tought that this company would be more advanced then does responses. well i was wrong and now i learned from my mistake.
i am taking my time to write this review for people to know the truth about this car.
if anyone has any questions ill be more than happy to help you regarding this car.

Strength:

Driver's overall visibility, fit and finish, the amount of room you would find in a minivan, very comfortable ride, price - value for the money

Weakness:

Fuel efficiency, radio is limited in capability - no AUX input for MP3 or IPod, radio controls on the wheel are limited as well, reverse visibility poor

We were looking for an SUV with AWD that had a third row seat... The choices finally came down to the Pilot and the Volvo XC-90. In the end, we went with the Pilot because it was 7000.00 USD cheaper and it had better ratings from Consumer Reports. I picked up the Pilot from the port in Bremerhaven and drove it home on the Autobahn a few days ago and it performed flawlessly. It had plenty of pickup for the autobahn and was very manueverable in European parking lots (usually smaller spaces and more confined areas). It was also super comfortable with huge amounts of space - it is in fact, like driving a mini-van. The fit and finish have been 100 percent across the board though I'd like a little more capability in the audio department - the radio has an AUX output button but no line in - a kind of poor design. Also, while the driver's visibility is excellent overall, visibility directly behind the vehicle is limited leading to some dicey backing. Recommend getting the reverse warning system as a backup. I was unable to get it through my dealer so I'm ordering it as an OEM part for installation with another local dealer. Also, the Pilot is a bit thirsty - about 21 - 22 miles per gallon on the autobahn at 70 MPH. Finally, there is some road noise but not nearly as bad as my Xterra.

Strength:

Reliability, roominess, controls and switches easy to use, smoothness, performance, feeling of safety, not too large, not too small.

Weakness:

Third seat is a bit cramped, body styling needs to be updated, dealership tries to "over-maintain" vehicle with unneccesary service intervals.

We bought this vehicle as a certified pre-owned with 29,000 miles. Now have 56,000 with zero problems. It's a bit thirsty, maybe 21-22 MPG tops, but its a heavy vehicle, and we run it 75-80 MPH on interstates, so really can't complain; it performs flawlessly in all conditions. The AWD is completely hands-off and works great. This car is more user-friendly than a $60,000 Mercedes R-class I drove a couple of times, and performs just as well.

Strength:

Storage space, roominess, access in and out, gas mileage, reliability, does everything pretty well. Great value for the money.

Weakness:

The honda radio has bad reception, the speakers are pretty bad also.
The rear hatch should open up a little higher.

I was very reluctant to get this vehicle because I have had such great luck with two Toyota's that each gave me more than 200,000 miles. I decided to get rid of the four wheel drive Tacoma because my wife I just had a baby and the truck was'nt a suitable vehicle for transporting a baby. After a long search, I decided that the Pilot was the best compromise/choice for us. At first I was not at all enthusiastic about my choice, it just wasnt my Tacoma that I just loved. However, this vehicle has really proved itself in the six months that I have had her. I believe that it is the best value for the money on the market right now. It does everything well. The safety features with the curtain airbags is excellent. The accessibilty is wonderful, very easy to get a carseat in and out of. We also like the versatility of being able to lower both rows of seats to nearly flat which creates a tremendous amount of cargo space. The roominess of the interior is really nice, it feels like a much bigger SUV than it really is.
We have already put on more than 13,000 miles and have not had a single maintenance problem. Hopefully, that will continue.
Driving the Pilot has been a great experience. We have taken it on many long distance trips and ride has been smooth and comfortable. There is some road noise but I cant tell that it's any worse than any other vehicle that I have ridden in. Gas mileage has also been surprisingly good. I average between 25 and 27 MPG on the highway. For a 4,000 LB. SUV, I think thats pretty good.
In summary, I could not be any happier with this vehicle. I would definitely buy this Pilot all over again. The one major negative that I can say about the vehicle is that I think Honda commited a serious design flaw in the rear hatch. It only opens up to about 5'10" which could be very irritating if your taller than that, you could really bang your head good when loading up the car.

Strength:

Safety: no daytime running lights or auto electronic door locks. Electronics: No MP3 configuration plug ins and the system couldn't handle a monster cable for an MP3 (static!). General: even with a soundproofing/undercoating option -- the road noise so consuming that a long highway trip was prohibative; meager gas mileage considering the engine size.

Weakness:

great turning radius; quick pick up

Think twice before making a mistake.

Strength:

At 145,000 kms, it performs great. Really enjoy the comfort, the big vehicle feel, and riding high off the road. Not a bad looking SUV, all things considered. Great for hauling stuff to and from the cottage.

Weakness:

Annual maintenance costs - I am not used to owning a vehicle with more than 100,000 kms, so things like timing belts (about $1,000) and struts and other repairs are a bit unnerving.

This updates a review from June 2006.

The Pilot now has more than 146,000 kms, and in the last year, all brakes have been done as well as front struts (local Midas shop - great work, good prices and warranties) and in the Fall, looking to replace timing belt/water pump at 160,000 kms, plus maybe a loose tie rod and muffler. If you plan to own a mid-sized SUV for the long haul, need to budget at least $2,000 for maintenance. Looked at maybe trading it on a new CR-V, but it seems my Pilot's market value of $23,000 is only worth $13,000 on a trade with Honda, so they can keep their $36,000 product and I'll enjoy my Pilot for several more years.

Strength:

Can't really think of any

Weakness:

Gas consumption.
Noise
Acceleration

I would strongly urge everyone to stay away from this vehicle - it is the worst gas guzzler imaginable. This car is rated to consume 17 MPG in the city and 21 on Highway. At best, we get 11 MPG in he city and this car already has over 4000 miles, so I don't expect it to get any better.
Also, every so often I hear strange sounds during deceleration. This problem comes and goes so I can't even take it to a dealer as it is not consistent.
Acceleration is so-so.

Strength:

Plenty of room and power. Transmission and brakes are extremely smooth. Tows well. Excellent gas mileage for a larger SUV. I've owned 4cyl Toyotas with 140hp that didn't get as good of gas mileage as this thing with all of its 240hp and third row seating.

Weakness:

Slight wind noise around door seals at highway speeds. Telescoping steering wheel would be appreciated.

I would recommend this vehicle to anyone interested in buying one. After reading all of the negative reviews that others have posted I have come to these conclusions; they're all mainly 2003 model year owners, they're all women, and they all live in Michigan. What that sums up to is a bunch of whiney yankees that ran out and bought the first model year of a vehicle, and were upset when there were some glitches. One woman actually complained that she had to come to a complete stop and open the door to reach down and flip the gas tank door release lever. I mean really, when else would it seem like a good time to flip that thing...on the highway at 70mph? Get off your soap box...this thing is solid.
