don't have any other than, the same as with all suv's better gas mileage would be nice but it's the price you pay to have a bigger vehicle. If you want better gas mileage buy a micro machine hybrid and rent a truck only when you need one. I have had my envoy for about 5 months. For an suv it gets great mpg. Driving it home from the dealership about 50 miles away I was surprised to get 23 mpg. I usually average about 18 mpg between city and highway. This is my 6th vehicle, the previous 5 were cadillacs. The thing that sold me on the envoy is the ride. I test drove a durango, explorer, infinity qx4, and the envoy. The envoy and qx4 were leaps and bounds above the others for comfort and ride smootheness, and the envoy felt the most powerfull. I have not had a single problem with this vehicle and I would highly recommend it to anyone in the market for an suv. Envoy Denali
Strength:
Seats are comfortable. Smooth ride. Looks great. Good safety features. Cargo room.
Weakness:
Can't get tan leather interior, not sure why? Only black or light gray...with dark wood trim. Seats need to go lower than they do. I'm 5'8" and need to slouch at times to see under the mirror. Strange (plastic sounding) vibration in rear of vehicle when start. Remote start needs to be better integrated with SUV (seat/mirror settings when key in doesn't work with remote start). Glove compartment is put together cheaply.
I have test driven a few other 2006 SUV's. Envoy was best one. I opted for the 6 CD changer because I thought it could play MP3's...it can't. Wasn't going to pay $500 for the dealership to install a $150 input jack. I'll do it myself.

NEEDS A BIGGER FEUL TANK We love this suv it has been great for us we looked at everthing under the sun. The Envoy has great looks, rides very smooth on the highway, and very comfortable. Strength:
Dependable transportion, plenty of room, no surprises, fantastic dealership support.
Weakness:
I wish it got better gas mileage. I have owned the Envoy for almost two years and the car has operated flawlessly. I have not had any problems with it and have rotated tires and changed tires pursuant to the owners manual, resulting in extremely low maintenance. I have towed a boat and traveled across the country and have never been concerned about whether my car would get me where I wanted to go. In the winter, the car has great traction and is appointed as nice as a luxury car, heated seats, satelite radio, etc. Similar Products Used: Grand Cherokee, Yukon Denali, Envoy is almost as nice as the Yukon and significantly cheaper, and tons better than 2000 Grand Cherokee. |

Envoy Denali
Strength:
Smoother and quieter ride. More comfortable seats. With Stabilitrak it handles much better in cornering and avoiding road hazards. Compared to the XUV or XL (longer model) more stable. More options come standard. Bose sound system and XM radio plus 6 disk changer. Slightly better gas mileage with Displacement On Demand V8. Load leveling suspension and air compressor. Power Sunroof. Locking Differential which gives more traction. More power with the V8. Interior wood trim.
Weakness:
Less cargo space compared to the XUV or XL. I traded in my 2004 GMC Envoy XUV 4WD for a new 5 passenger 2006 GMC Envoy Denali 2WD. This review will mostly compare the two SUVs. The Denali is a new line for the Envoy in 2006. GMC has really improved the Envoy, especially with the Denali trim. With a few more improvements this could easily compete with any luxury SUV on the market. Even though this is considered a Mid-Size SUV, it is still quite large and would fit most peoples needs. Gas mileage is actually slightly better with the V8 than the 6 cylinder because of the Displacement On Demand which cuts off 4 of the 8 cylinders when cruising at highway speeds. Mileage on the Denali 2WD is rated at 16 city 22 highway. With the air compressor you can put air in your own tires. The Denali is a smooth ride with the Luxury Ride Bilstein Shocks and quieter with added sound proofing. Color keyed assist steps look nice and help getting in and out of the SUV. The only options I do not have are the GPS navigation and rear DVD entertainment. Neither of which I need. It also comes standard with 1 year of OnStar. You can also buy minutes and use the hands-free calling. Bottom line: I highly recommend the 06 Envoy Denali. Take is for a test drive and see for yourself. Similar Products Used: GMC Envoy XUV |

Ascender/7pass V8 same as Envoy
Strength:
Somewhat of a better look than the envoy, Trailblazer, and Raineer like the front grill and rear bumper that covers the exhaust and the spare tire. A much longer factory warranty 7/75000
Weakness:
Can't get GM Navigation, XM, or Rear Seat Entertainment(DVD) but you can find them on the internet and have them installed for under $3500.00 I guess you guys should have bought the Isuzu Ascender. I have a limited with all the bells and whistles, except for Navigation and XM because GM won't give up those options to Isuzu. But what I did get is the Isuzu 7yr/75000 mile warranty. I haven't had any of the problems that you guys are having with the Envoy's except for the mirror losing it memory so I just turned that option off for now. Strength:
Smooth ride, comfortable, nice radio.
Weakness:
GM service organization, willingness to remedy customer problem. Less than 5000 miles on my Envoy with a V8 engine that shakes at idle, you'd think it was going to stall. GM factory say's that's normal. Dealer say's you have to understand it's a V8 so some vibration is expected? Dealer recommended going to another dealer. It seems that they can't repair anything unless the computer states there is an error code. So without an error code there can be no repair. It's that simple, forget the $34,000, forget buyer loyalty they aren't going to do anything. This is no oversensitive nit-picking item, this is a "whoaa I hope this thing makes it home" vibration. I'm an owner of two GMC's, two Chevy suburbans and a Corvette. I was a very loyal GM customer, loyal no more.... |

Strength:
Versatile cargo area. Smooth ride.
Weakness:
I wish I had the optional Bose sound system. Interior materials on side panels and dash are cheap and do not fit well. Except for the cargo area, there are not near enough small storage areas. Since I have never owned an SUV I test drove a few before I bought the Envoy. Because of the versatility, the Envoy XUV is the only SUV that makes sense for hauling varying sizes of cargo. It’s too bad they quit making the XUV in April 2005. The roof retracts on the cargo area making it possible to haul tall items. The tailgate opens by either swinging out curbside or letting down like a pickup. The cargo bay is over 6 ft long (with the rear seat flipped forward and the tailgate up) and 4 ft wide, making it possible to fit plywood with the tailgate down. Plus the cargo area is weather resistant with built-in drains so you can wash it down with a hose. There are 12 places for tie-down rings in two rows on each side in the cargo area. However, there are only 4 rings and the rest are blanks. So, you will have to remove the bolts and move them to where they are needed. Otherwise, you have to shell out $13 each to replace the blanks. Both the tailgate and mid-gate (behind the rear seats) have power windows. The smooth ride is equal to some luxury sedans. Rated at about 15/20 mpg, fuel economy is average for a full size SUV (I’m getting less gas mileage). The optional hands-free Personal Calling that comes with OnStar comes in handy if you forget your cell phone. But, you will pay about $.40 per minute for this convenience. The power heated leather seats are stiff but comfortable. The 4.2 liter inline 6 cylinder engine is 275 hp which is enough power for most people and gives slightly better gas mileage than the 5.3L V8 with 290 hp. My XUV has 4 wheel drive that can be switched from 2 wheel drive, all wheel drive, or 4 wheel drive high or low. Except for 4wd low, the drives can be switched on the fly. There are 2 trims and various options available to suite your tastes and needs. Since I’ve only had my Envoy XUV for a short time, I don’t know yet if I will have all the problems I have read about from other owners. And considering the poor quality and flimsy materials, it might start rattling soon. But, for now I am happy with this GMC. The bottom line: If you want versatility, the GMC Envoy XUV is a good choice. However, if you demand quality in craftsmanship, a very quiet ride, better gas mileage and much lower deprecation then buy a Lexus. |

Turning radious, looks nice, rides high, great local service dept (bright bay gmc, bayshore, NY)
Weakness:
quality, bad bad gas milage, too much wind noise Geez where do I start. I had it in the dealer 12 times in the first 6 months. I can't even remember everything. First, the truck died while making a left turn. Tranny would just grind when trying to put it in gear. Towed to dealer. Turned out to be something with the ingition connection to the tranny. It died again a month later. Replaced the whole 4x4 transfer case. Had tons of problems with the 4wd selector. That was irregular voltage in the fuse box. Wipers and a/c both stopped working. Although I haven't had problems since then. Heating/fan is weak. Engine makes tons of noise until it warms up. Other then that, it rides nice, too much wind noise though. I can't wait to turn it in. Don't know if I would recommend it. Local dealer was great ... very nice service dept. Even with all the problems I was having they never gave me a hard time. GMC corporate is terrible. After all the trouble I had and the money I had to lay out while the car was in the shop and time I spent back and forth, the only thing they offered me was an extra year warranty on the powertrain.
