Looks nice on paper and design.
Weakness:
Being built too fast in the factory and having major problems as a result. like my rebuilt motor after 4000 miles. My next car/suv will be a toyota or a lexus .. #1 in service and customer satisfaction for 9 years My MDX has a rebuilt motor after 4000 miles and Acura would not replace the vehicle . This truck is a lemon - its been in the shop 6 times and its been over 20 days . Im not too happy with Acuras customer service as it is very poor. I hope all of you never have to go through any major service on your acura because they do not help you.. your on your own. My next move is to get legal representation . Very disapointed in honda/acura Similar Products Used: None |

None everyone should love this car, my god, it is so expensive, it should be great. anyone who buys a car at a place with the attitude that it is sticker price, no negotiation, wait 6 months and tuff or the door is there, is crazy! wait a year or two until it isn''t the hottest thing and there is some negotiation on price. same with highlander. dealers have some nerve! it''s not like it is $18-20,000 Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Honda engine. Good re-sale value. Good dealership.
Weakness:
High-demand, couldn't negotiate the price. Long wait(more than 3 months). Why Acura can't increase the production? Solid,Well-balanced, and Luxury SUV. Love the panel display, 3rd row seat, spacious interior area. Great value even at MSRP. Similar Products Used: None |

The size of the interior is more than I expected. The 3rd row of seats is reminiscent of the Durango witch I liked a lot. 240 horses are nice for passing and tow loads. The fact that it is almost an all new from the ground up (12% with Odyssey, front A-arm suspension). I can’t believe that it’s an SUV and has a ULEV rating without being hybrid.
Weakness:
Now I get to rant. First off Acura has to tell their dealers to stop gouging the accessories, they wanted $3500 for Touring and $2500 for NAV. So I went through cars direct and got a dam good price with the options I wanted. Also no side door protection what are they thinking about that should be a given this day and age. What’s with the seats I’m 6.2 and 270 my @$$ doesn’t fit on the seat, it could be a couple of inches longer for support, but yet I have plenty of leg room and that Lombard support it’s always there regardless if I want to use it or not, I do like it but on long road trips after awhile your back starts hurting. The BOSE stereo true to form “If there’s no highs and no lows it must be BOSE” I had to have a friend adjust the stereo amp so I could hear the bass. Apparently Acura does under stand how to install an amp. SUV + 60 MPH = Wind noise, You think with all there wind tunnel test someone would say or do something to elevate the problem, although it is a lot less noisy than the Tahoe and Suburban make, you need ear plugs for those SUV’s. One final thing they need to move the parking brake back and a little to the right, it’s to close to the footrest. I think Acrua built a very nice SUV that still has a little refining to do but better than the rest. I was very suprised by the wind noise considering all the hype Honda has going for the MDX as SUV of the year. Compared to my Durango witch is airtight even at 100 MPH, thats why I don't under stand why they can't or didn't want to do it on the MDX. None When we first got this car, we were very happy and pleased with it. But then, things started to go wrong. We kept hearing a "bottoming out" sound whenever we went over a bump or dip in the road. This is not normal even for a non-SUV. So, we figured we would have it looked at. When we took it in, we found out that there was something wrong with the front strut...but the part was unable to be replaced because it was on national backorder. A couple of weeks later, the strut arrived and our MDX was back in the shop to get it replaced. But, then they found that strut on the other side was bad also. So, once again...backorder....once again, replaced a couple of weeks later. Now, that both struts were replaced, I figured that the MDX was in tiptop shape...until I went over a small bump in the road. Again my MDX is back in the shop because the suspension bolts are loose. The parts are supposedly arriving by FEDEX tomorrow AM. But, by now, I am fed up. I made a few phone calls and apparently this is not too uncommon a problem with the new MDX. One Acura service manager stated to me that they have had the same problem in about 25 of the 150 MDX's that they have sold. Those are pretty bad percentages. So, bottom line...nice car, but it definitely has a few bugs to be worked out. In hindsight, I wish I had bought one of the other cars we had looked at...at least then I would have a car to drive, instead of it being in the shop. Similar Products Used: None |

Interior is really nice and seats 7 people.
Weakness:
Lack of side moldings makes you park far away in any parking lot. Great after 6 months. Not a single glitch! Honda/Acura quality. Other SUV's were too small. Similar Products Used: Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Ford Expedition and Explorer, Dodge Durango |

THE INSIDE: The interior is absolutely beautiful! The erogonomics are excellent! Great climate control system for the second-row passengers as well as the front. The trip computer (which comes with the base model) is good. The center console is well thought out (special place for your cell phone) fabulous cup holders for any size cups, audio and chanel control on the steering wheel is a plus, the third row of seats are great, but difficult to get to, the leather seats were comfortable (not as comfortable as the seats in the Lexus RX300), I loved the "saddle" interior, but did not like the "ebony" color. Overall, this SUV has the best interior I have seen. Very nice and very practical.
Weakness:
THE OUTSIDE: The outside of this SUV is unexciting to me. It really blends in with all the other mid-size, mid-priced SUV's out there. It is a shame too, because the interior is first class!! You have to pay extra for the luggage rack, running boards, etc. and.....there are no side moldings to protect from parking lot dings. THE OTHER NEGATIVE IS PAYING STICKER PRICE, NO NEGOTIATING ON THIS ONE. If you like the looks of the Acura MDX's exterior, this SUV is no doubt the right one for you. It's beatiful, luxurios, functional, and a great value (even though you'll have to pay full sticker price). If you have not test driven it, you must! I rate it a 4.5 because the exterior doesn't do anything for me. Besides that, it is an excellent choice! Similar Products Used: lexus RX300: I have test-driven both the Lexus RX300 and the Acura MDX three times each. It has been a hard decision for me for many reasons. The erogonomics, the turn radius, and the interior layout of the Acura MDX are superior to the Lexus. However, The Lexus has more of a luxury car drive (not as truckish), it has an easy entry, and the exterior is far better looking in my opinion. Because of competition with the MDX the dealerships are willing to negotiate more. The erogonomics of the Lexus are terrible. So, do you go for a great looking SUV on the outside called "Lexus" OR a great looking and functional SUV on the inside that's a bit more true utilitarian? |
