Strength:
Third row seat, interior space, engine power (240hp)
Weakness:
None so far. Although it has been only a couple of weeks, I am definitely impressed. I didn''t notice too much wind noise, but there is noise reduction in the 2002 models. I was told the windshield is thicker and mirrors are more aerodynamic. I can''t find anything to complain yet. Interior is quite spacious and the third row seat is definitely handy. Deafening noise @ speeds over 40 mph with only the back/rear window(s) down. Side bumper guards. Clunky shifting mechanism. Try going over 40 mph with the back windows down... This is NOT typical SUV wind noise......Well read on... Similar Products Used: None |

Weakness:
Weeping mirrors Best overall value, combination of function, features, performance and reliability. Ultra low emissions vehicle (sellable in CA without modifications). Good gas mileage (17/23). Similar Products Used: My first SUV, though tested BMW and Lexus (traded in a GS300) before I bought. |

MPG not bad for an SUV this size we have gotten between 21-23 mpg. The interior in cavernous. The 3ed seat has come in handy at times. The GPS is intuitively easy to operate. Is it any wonder that Money Magazine listed this car #1 in resale value!
Weakness:
After a year of looking... the only thing that would warrent comment here would be the wind noise as to a regular car. But that is pretty much to be expected in a large profile SUV. Have now been in the MDX for over a year. We were one of the first to pick one up in the Jax. Fl. area and I am glad to say that this car is bullet proof. Have not had even in slightest problem with it. Definately a 5 star winner!! Similar Products Used: Chev. Suburban, Jeep Grand Cherokee, |

My third Acura. Best "value" in the mid luxury class. I don''t regret the purchase, but it is rather pretentious to have a "waiting list" for an Acura. An exotic brand such as Ferrari, maybe. Other than that, I waited 2 mos. because the MDX is the best buy out there in a "prestige" marquee. State-of-the-art AWD, decent gas mileage (20mpg in mixed driving), lots of room, a burgeoning cult following, competent handling, brisk performance, and if you "saw off" the garish MDX acronym in the back, a certain stealth persona that adds a little panache. Very nice car.
Weakness:
Typical Japanese make, under-tired. C''mon 17 inch wheels but only 6.5" wide? 7" would have been cooler and perhaps added to the cornering. Highly touted stereo only above average, Acura''s lumbar support again fails to impress. Accessories that I added should be standard, and I have a funny feeling that in less than two model years they will be (Acura''s usual practice)standard on the new 2003 MDX Type S (260 HP, 255 lbs of torque for increased towing). Overall, I think the vehicle is great! I would reccomend it. I just think the notion of having to wait for a vehicle not in the exotic class is tad bit absurd. Didn''t Acura have any idea how hot this thing was going to be? On the other hand, it is priced accordingly. Just make sure you have dealer that does not gouge. Also, the early 2001 models had enough bugs to lower Acura''s overall stature in the JD Powe surveys. Hopefully has them ironed out. So far my "Mid-x" appears to be fine. Acura MDZ Naviagation and Touting Packages
Strength:
Great handling, power, sound system, when used by two drivers remotes adjust seats for each person, a treat, third row can be put down when not being utilized, great design. This give you the Mini-van approach when you need it and still retains the SUV status. Power and then some. Navigation system takes you there, extremely trust worthy. Great to be able to load all those CD''s in just one device location, real easy. Programming items into the Nav system not very time consuming, but does take a moment. Just know what kind of driving you do and you will get the MPG, City is CIty and Freeway is Freeway ect...
Weakness:
No release for the rear door on inside of vehicle, or exterior key lock. Remotes work from a far distance just fine but a exterior lock would still been nice. Naviagation system works great just understand it''s a piece of software and it has a few limitations. In faireness so do the other Nav systems. Overall there really isn''t any. 2001 MDX with NAV and Touring. I waited to write this after I finished driving past the first 5K miles. So I would not be overly excited when I submitted this review. This way I would be more acturate. The vehicle is everything you would want and them some. Power, handling, features and realiability. Because I had read prior reviews I knew what to expect with regards to featues(and I got them all). I compared this vehicle to the Lexus, MBZ and the Toyota, for the money this was the best deal. I thought I was going to wait a long time to get this vehicle, but we got lucky it came in. Similar Products Used: Toyota, Mazada |

Strength:
Handles just like my previous car inspite of the weight and height. The wind noise wasn''t a problem as mentioned by others. The Bose system is just great( I am not a purist). The 3rd row seat is very handy for 2 extra people(short trips only). Over all quality is just great. Also, unlike what others have mentioned, the dealer was very nice and friendly(they did try to sell some extra accessaries). I do a lot of parallel parking. The passenger side view-mirror tilts all the way down automatically when in reverse to give a better view of the curb. Its a very handy feature for me. Dual a/c is very efficient and powerful. The control panel is very neat and easy to access.
Weakness:
Driver side area for the left leg smaller than even my Honda Civic. The leather quality is CL type and not RL or TL. The lumbar support is mechanical and hardly moves the seat-back. For Nav models, I would like the a/c control to be physical buttons rather than on the touch screens. It takes an extra button to get to them if I am in Nav mode. This is not a problem in "a/c / Trip" mode or for models with Nav. The trailer towing weight is just 3500 lbs. This is simply a great SUV. I did my research for over 2 months and found MDX to be the best in its class. My belief was confirmed when I took delivery of the car (in less than 2 months cause some one else cancelled). Of course it was quantum jump for me from a Honda Civic to luxury sports SUV. So my review is relative to that. Overall quality of MDX is just great. This SUV has the legendary Acura realibility. Its exactly what you would expect from 40K Plus luxury SUV. Buy it and you would be believer too. Similar Products Used: RX300, ML320, Grand Cherokee(no where in comparison). |
