Strength:

Strikes fear into domestic b.s, 5.0 liter eater, Targa Top offers convertable feel, beats the hell outta my wife's 82 Corvette, 320 stock HP

Weakness:

Only fit my dog and my briefcase in back seat.

This car is so fast , I've lost my license twice, and have received over a dozen tickets, most of the time though cops have one major problem ....they can't catch me. Unfortunately 3 squirrels have lost their lives from failure to slow down in time causing minimal front end damage. Friend's Chevrolet 350 attempts to keep up but after I am in 3rd gear he falls where most other cars commonly end up... behind me.

Solid engine, still has the power to burn rubber after 17 years. Stops on a dime. Overtakes most everyone else on the curved onramp to the freeway. It fits my (rather short) body. And it looks cool (nice wedge shape). Oh, and it passes smog like it was a hybrid car...

Weakness:

The tires are hard to find. There were a number of repairs I had to do to it around 120K miles (valve job, alternator, master cylinder, clutch replacement, fuel pump) that ended up costing me almost as much as I actually paid for the car!. The seats are a little cramped, and if you're tall, you probably won't fit in it (someone teased me about my "midget car"). It burns a teansy bit of oil.

I know it sounds funny, but after fixing all the things that were going to break, it now runs great! I haven't had any problems for the last 3 years or so. It's now around 141K. Most of my driving has been high acceleration/deceleration (I could be a road-rage poster child), and I certainly haven't been nice to my car. Driving it, I mean; it gets regular maintenance, as my baby should.

Considering that Kelley Blue Book tells me my car's worth about $2500, I just can't see that I'll ever be parting with this car until it blows up (which I doubt it will do). I've heard about people running these babies hard after 200K miles. The power you get (160HP) is well worth the cost.

I really liked the dash; it's pretty sweet for an older sports car. I loved the targa top in the summer! Power seat was very comfortable. Fairly comfortable ride on longer trips.

Weakness:

The performance from this car was very disappointing. Don't buy this car if you want a fast car!! Good luck upgrading, it only costs you a few thousand dollars, then there's also the repairs when your engine blows up!

Everytime you stomp on that gas pedal, you had better be prepared for a blown head-gasket! Toyota engineers produced an engine with several design flaws. The non-turbo and turbo-charged engines are virtually the same motor! The turbo-charged engines aren't able to keep up with the pressure and stress that the turbo puts on them. Trust me, I know. I went through one engine when I threw a piston rod, and two more head gaskets after I replaced the old engine with one that only had 30k miles!!! The worst part was that this all happened within the year after I bought the piece of crap! If you want to buy the supra because of it's looks, buy a non-turbo and save yourself a lot of headaches and grief!

Strength:

Very fast,good looking,almost indisructful...

Weakness:

The only problem would be the head gaskets. Not really a problem if you change the original gaskets with after market metal head gaskets.

A very good car.For me my mechanical help has not been as expensive as people say it has.The car is very reliable.Make sure that you check the car very carefully though. The same goes for when haveing it repaired, many mechanics these days thrive on overcharging for fixing imports.Insist on buying the parts yourself.Parts are not expensive.

Strength:

The mark-3 (86.5-89) Supras have remarkable handling. The car is comepletely steady at any speed. Cornering is great & predictable. Supras are very comfortable & quite luxurious. the midband torque range comes on strong & doesn't wimp out at high rpm. The best thing is the upgradibility. The 7M-GTE engine is very responsive to upgrades. A 400 hp car can be built for very lilte money, & much more is possible.

Weakness:

Most folks say it is too heavy. I've seen Supras wrecked. trust me, the weight is well-used. They hold up very well. The only problem is the famous blown head gasket. It is very easy to prevent this from happening though. If you do blow a head gasket, and you fix it right, it'll never happen again.

I love Supras. I have 2 even. When I was trying to decide what sports car to buy, I drove a lot, and looked at more. The turbo Supra was the only choice. It's the perfect base platform for modifications. The removable hardtop is a must. Overall the car is just plain fun to drive. it makes you want to drive. They are hard to find, but if you have the time to look for the perfect car like I did, find one.

Strength:

For an old car, it has some decent power, I mean it's not the best, but I can keep up with my friends 1989 Chevy Beretta GT!!! And it starts up in the -30 days up here in canada!! YEAH!! It has power windows and steering that actually work still!

Weakness:

Currently, I'm having a hell of a time installing a stereo!! Lots of weird things wired together with the radio and old tape deck... could be a little lighter to increase power...the rust just started to accumulate around wheel wells, but one can excpect that from a 20 year old car!! I dont like how the trunk is so high up, I will need to make my own box for my subs when i get them in a month... space is definately a factor here

For an old car, it's definately good for a 17 year old like myself, decent power, I raced and beat a 99 accord inline 4, which i must say, impressed me!! Gas is fairly efficient, ride is kind of loud, needs better noise protection, shifter is kind of stiff, i mean it had alot of problems when i bought it but $2000 later it's running like new almost, it's definately a fun car to drive and with a few mods it should be a lot funner lol! I would recommend one as long as it didnt have lots of repairs like mine did, definateyl a worth while car to invest in! I cant wait to get a MKIII supra in the future!

This car is one of the best looking cars on the road today. There aren't any cars built today that will look as fresh in 15 years like this car does now. I like the incredible handling, sound of the exhaust and the quality of the car in all respects. To this date, I have 79,000 miles and not a spot of rust on the body anywhere.

Weakness:

The weaknesses consist of the power to weight ratio. This car needed to shed about 1000 lbs. or gain about 50 hp to be perfect. The only other complaint is the sloppy 5 speed shifter. I get a lot of hang-up between gears.

If you want a reliable good looking fast great handling car for a reasonable price, go get a 1986.5 to 1992 Supra. The later Supra is much faster, but is is also much more expensive and alot less comfortable to drive.

This car is much more useful and has more room than the 300zx or the rx-7.

Strength:

Good Power for stock 7MGTE (Very Strong power plant). CT-26 is a good size turbo, and can boost up 13-15 lbs no prob. Targa Top is a must, living in CA. I have my 91' fixed up, and people give props for the car everywhere I go(But you have to fix it up clean...NO STUPID STICKERS, stupid wings, or tiny wheels).
I have owned this car for over 4 years and I have decided to make this a show car. Also, with the shortage/discontinuation of Japanese RWD sportscars, these cars (87-92) will be hard to find in prime condition.
AND BEST OF ALL, IT'S NOT A HONDA/ACURA.

Weakness:

It won't do 0-60 in 3 sec, 1/4mile in 11's...
it won't seat 234 people...
but the HEAD GASKET cracks, SUCKS OIL, LEAKS OIL, TARGA TOP LEAKS after several years (sucks when it rains), HEAVY RIDE, NEEDS a GOOD SUSPENSION, SUCKS GAS, NEEDS JAPAN SPEC/ 1JZ motor...The New Supra's (93-98TT) are better, 87-92's are too old, expensive to fix (parts/ labor).

I wouldn't really recommend the years 87-92 for people who needs a car with good gas milege and good reliability. However, they have a lot of power for stock motor, but the car needs maintenance periodically. If one considers purchasing a 87-92 Supra, I would simply spend the extra dough and buy 93-98 TT. It's a whole different car, and YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. I ALSO RECOMMEND NOT GETTING ANY HONDAS or ACURAS (except the NSX).
If you want to be different and be noticed, Toyota Supra is a car for you.

Acceleration, handling, great power, looks, very reliable, can be used for daily driving.

Weakness:

Small back seat, rare, small view in the rear with the big spoiler.

Great car. With just $2000 bucks of upgrades, you get 400+ HP. That's an 80+ gain of HP. No other car can get that much gain with just $2000. Don't get this car if you're not going to upgrade it because this car has great potential for more HP. It can handle 500+ HP with no problem at all. And one more thing, it's a Toyota...!!!!

Weakness:

Very heavy car especially the A**end, Mine is fine, but the line has problems with headgaskets

I bought mine for $2600 and it was a steal!!! had I actually known what this car truly was when I bought it I would have danced a jig after stealing it for this price. :) It is a true touring car, it rides beautifuly & loves the highway at twice the posted speed limit. Although heavy for a sports car, it its by no means out classed by much on the road. You can hang with almost anything out there in stock configuration. With a few mods you will be able to see the horror on new Camaro SS, WS6 or Vette owners faces as you pull away from them and all they read is your plate number and turbo badge, not to mention your taillights!!!
