Strength:

handling, looks, and power

Weakness:

limits only two people, but did manage to fit 3 people. other than that the car was a dream

Well I bought this car when it was used with about 100,000 miles on it. I was very impressed to say how the car handles and how quick the car accelerates. This car is now sold, because i needed more room to fit people but i still and wish that i still had one. Some people may say that this car has hard to find parts but there out there.

Strength:

Fast even for a non-turbo, Great interior design. Turns heads every were I go.

Weakness:

Expencive parts, Hard to find parts, Aligment problems all the time.

Great car. I didn't get a turbo but the none turbo is just fine with me. I might not win any straight line races but I sure as heck will take most of them out here on any corner. Handling awesome. Design still great but getting dated. Can easly be fixed with after market products. If you wanna see my baby check out this site. www.mr2fast.com

Strength:

handling. the handling is very superb, the only problem in the "snap oversteer" in the 91-92 year models. this means that the car automatically "snaps" back over

Weakness:

two seats, can't carry much but the looks, speed and handling account for the latter part and make up for this.

I owned a 2000 celica gt-s before this car and always thought of the older mr2s as pieces of dump but then i stepped behind the wheel of this, yes supercar. the car handles like a 911 turbo, its speeds match some of the fastest production cars. with light mods, the car can easily beat just about anything that stops next to you on the road.

Handling, driving experience, reliabilty, low price, still turns heads and looks good.

Weakness:

Dont push it too hard in the wet!!

Id be here all day if i wads to describe this car fully. Many people think the MR2 MK1 is underpowered but its not. They dont feel that quick when your driving them because the engine does not produce a lot of torque. The 0-60 MPH time for a MK1 is 7.7-far from slow!! After all these cars are 15 years old now so for their time they where very fast. Ive had my car abot 2 years now and not one thing has gone wrong.I have not spent a penny on it apart from a nice set of alloy wheels and tyres.Anything with Toyota on it will always be well built and very reliable and the MR2 is no exception. As far a s driving goes the MR2 is a masterpiece. My brother in law has owned a Porsche 911 turbo and he says that my little MR2 is more fun to drive!! These cars just stick to the road like superglue in the dry but in the wet you better watch out because the rear wheel drive beast will have you in a field!! This is by far the best, most fun to drive car i have ever driven.I used to own a MAzda MX5 and it doesnt even come close to the MR2 in any department.

Strength:

Quick and nimble. An exotic sports car for under $2,000.

Weakness:

Finicky coolant system. Needs intake, exhaust, springs and struts replaced with good aftermarket parts to achieve sports car perfection.

This is an N/A model with no frills. The MR2 MK1 was designed to get around corners quickly and that's what it does best. Handling on my car has been further improved by installation of Eibach Pro Kit springs and Tokico Illumina 5 way adjustable struts. This combination just enhances the handling of an already great sports car. The 4AGE engine is based on the Ford Cosworth BDA twin cam racing engine. With after market intake and cat-back exhaust it revs freely to 7500 rpm. Some say that the MK1 N/A is under-powered but the key to the joy of driving this car is that it is light, light, light. Think 125cc race bike and you've got an idea of how the MK1 handles. You can throw this baby into the turns and it points on a rail right on through. Keep the revs up and you'll be making very impressive exits. Here, again the aftermarket spring/strut combination really cuts down on the rear end dramatics over the stock setup. The MR2 is a rear engine car and there is something absolutely exhilarating about having those great engine noises happening BEHIND you! No front engine, front wheel drive cars ever again! This MR2 is a little Japanese exotic. I'd say the MK1 is more like a mini-Lotus than a Ferrari. In fact it's said that Toyota and Lotus worked together on the development of the MR2 MK1. You can find these cars in very good condition for under $2,000 making the MK1 a great value. There are many good MR2 MK1 websites. They can be helpful in researching what to look for when buying.

Strength:

it has all the show and it can go as well. what i like about it the most is that the MR2 is rare, mid-engine, rear-wheel drive, economical, and fun!

Weakness:

stock 14's dont really cut it, needed larger wheels for maxinum performance. enough storage for my selfish self, but if my gf wanted to come along, she's gonna lose some luggage.

i dont think 4000 charecters is enough to write about this car.. but i'll keep it short. fantastic! a japanese ferrari!

Strength:

Toyota reliability, Pure power to weight Very atractive styling (red of course) I love the way the snappy way the pop up lights work. Traction control helps.

Weakness:

Can be a real tyre challenge on the rear (believe me I do not burn rubber) can't traction control.....

Truly a car that brings a smile to the driver. Even after a year I still make excuses to drive it. Have had one or two moments when the 240bhp has asserted itself on winding country bends. (you need to learn these things) Still amazed at its ability to take bends at scary speeds. Very comfortable on a long journey, with plenty of support and miriad of adjustable bits on the drivers seat. Not many cars in Ireland will beat it off the mark 5.2sec 0 - 60mph (nice to know)

Strength:

handling, acceleration, luxury, engineering, reliablity, looks, fun factor, rareness

Weakness:

limited stowage room for luggage on long trips (better than most other exotics though!)

This luxurious well equipped car is the closest thing you can drive to a Ferrari, if you can't afford the price tag of such a fine Italian exotic. And the best part is that the car is extremely reliable, cheap to maintain, and very, very fun to drive. This is a drivers car - It works well in town, on the highway, and can still challenge even the most talented of drivers when pushed to its handling limits. The engine's in the back, and everything on the car is high tech and fully functional (unlike some cars that only pretend to be trick). Will outhandle and outdrive most exotics on the road with the right driver behind the wheel, with very few mods. And the best part... Not everyone in town has one! haha. The MR2 is probablly one of the rarest cars on the road these days, due to the fact that not many buyers ever clued in to the beauty and performance of this car, until they were no longer shipped to North America.

Strength:

Superb handling, low end torque, fun to drive.

Weakness:

Could use a little more power.

Great sports car with super handling and low end torque. A little more power would be nice; that's why I want a turbo. It's a fun, relatively inexpensive car with all the bells and whistles inside and a great interior, but the mid-engine layout and the way it handles is what separates it from the rest.
