Scion FR-S Sports
DESCRIPTION
Pros:
- Finally bringing back a real sports coupe with RWD
- Exterior styling
- Haven't thought of any, yet
The FR-S will be a compact 2+2 sport coupe that sends its power to the rear wheels -- the first Toyota car to do so since the old MR2. Power is going to come from a new 2.0-liter horizontally opposed Boxer four-cylinder engine sourced from Subaru, which co-developed the FR-S.
Styling cues incorporate more than a few from the Lexus LF-A and Mitsubishi 2000GT. Because of this vertically compact engine design, the FR-S is not only able to have a sleek, low-slung hood but it also aids weight balance by placing the engine down and behind the front axle of the car. Available transmissions will be either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. A limited-slip differential will be a part of the standard equipment list.
The design goal was to produce a compact, affordable, practical, rear wheel drive coupe with real street cred. Pricing is expected to be very close to $25k.
