DESCRIPTION

All new for 2004, the GTO is built by GM subsidiary, Holden in Australia. Based on the existing Monaro platform, the GTO features the C5 Corvette's LS1 Gen III V8 engine. The standard powertrain is a performance-tuned Hydra-Matic automatic, with a Tremec close-ratio six-speed manual as the only optional feature. Other standard equipment includes a dual exhaust with twin converters, Bosch three-channel traction control system, W-rated 17- tires, and Blaupunkt 200-watt 10-speaker sound system. The GTO has a true 2+2-seating configuration, with interior appointments such as machine-drilled pedals, satin nickel trim, leather seats with side bolsters, and color-coordinated sport gauges.

Great seat room.. Great stereo (turn up the amp) Great layout.

Weakness:

Paint has "dirt " in it. Wheel clearance not what it should be. Doesnt rub.. but in a few years it might. Fixable.

So far so good.
They apparently knocked out the couple kinks the 2004 had. Power is incredible. But you'd expect that it could leave Mudstang GTs in the dust. What you wouldnt expect is how comfortable it is. You could take your 3 tall guy friends from chicago to Las Vegas in this car. Well as long as they packed lightly, trunk space isnt HUGE. SO, i've had it a month. Nothing wrong when purchased. So far i've had a button stop working.
Only bad thing about the car is here i had to deal with CUTTER PONTIAC WAIPAHU. THey suck.. horrible people horrible service department more con artist than is typical for car dealer. I am driving across the island to a different dealer now for service.

2005 GTO...what can I say. This is a performance coupe w/ so much more. I am a Mustang guy since the 60's. I was prepared to buy a 2005 GT, but the dealers were too greedy, sending me about to sample the other cars out there. The GTO absolutely floored me. To those who don't know, this is NOT a Pontiac, but a Holden Monaro imported from Australia. It is fast, quiet, comfortable, and refined. The 400hp LS2 motor is a delight. The styling may be a bit bland, but as I get older, this is less important to me. After all, BMW and Mercedes styling is generally pretty bland. And those are the real competitors of this beast. Negatives: standard stereo is awful. Rear seat access is bad...but once you get into those rear seats, they are GREAT! Honest-to-God adults can sit in the back with comfort, UNLIKE the Mustang, 350Z, etc. I challenge anyone to go for a SERIOUS test drive of this car...experience the upscale interior, the POWER, the total package...and make your own decisions. Currently this car is THE BARGAIN in performance vehicles. Enough for someone who has NEVER owned a GM product in 48 yrs to go out and buy one!
