WS-6 Ram Air Trans-Am
Strength:
Powerful engine, 6-speed trans shifts wonderfully, handling is incredible.
Weakness:
Haven't found any. What an awesome automobile! I have had no major problems with this car. Bought it from the original owner when it had just over 50,000 miles on it. Similar Products Used: 94 Corvette, 89 Corvette, 87 IROC-Z, 67 Chevelle ... this is by far my favorite car. The power and handling are right up there with the Corvettes. |

Weakness:
Elect Headlight System, Need repair twice so far. My wife is always saying that I love more my car than her. Not true, but pretty close!!! I add aprox $4800 to this baby: custom exhaust system (flowmaster), Premium sound system, Neeper Neptune Chrome wheels & Wind West Ground effects. I am proud to say that my car is the most beautiful car in the whole Sacramento area. Similar Products Used: 1985 T/A |

Trans Am GTA 5.7L (or 350 for car buffs)
Strength:
-fast, beats all muffler job rice burners and most new sports cars
Weakness:
-turn your guts into mush when you hit a bump GET A VERY GOOD RADAR DETECTOR! On the highway, this car feels like it's doing 55, but it's more like 70. It's something you can toy with and not feel guilty, i had an old '69 340 duster that i restored and never put any hop-ups on. The T/A is not worth anything to collectors. All it's got on it now is exhaust, but i'll probably get a mass air kit of something. Although, all the rice burners that i consistantly put behind me may provoke me to save my cash. It's a lot of bang for your buck stock, i would suggest it to anyone who's looking for a second car that gas milage is not an issue on. Similar Products Used: '88 mustang GT 5.0, '69 camero 350 |

Trans Am 5.7L V8
Strength:
The V8 has more torque than a John Deere tractor. Heavy and solid if you crash often - very safe.
Weakness:
Extremely poor build quality. I am not exaggerating, but the car feels like all 300000 components are barely held together. Every bump causes a cascading sequence of rattles and squeaks. The driveline is sloppy, steering is numb. Very unrefined and poorly engineered. Don't buy a TransAm/Firebird you will regret it. The cars seem fine for the first 10,000 miles then they start to fall apart. Similar Products Used: 1995 Mustang GT- much more solid but still overall poor. |

/Camaro V6
Strength:
Fairly strong V6, but not strong enough. Luckily GM will be using the new 3.5 V6 which is currently being used in Oldsmobile Intrigues and Auroras in future V6 Camaros. It has 15 more horsepower and better gas mileage. Also a 1 and half second better 0 to 60 than the 3.8. The 3.8 is a great sounding engine.
Weakness:
Windows leak a little, only in a powerful car wash. Overall, I love this car. I strongly advise giving this car a test drive. You will proabably not be disappointed. I have a friend with a 2000 Camaro SS. If you've got the money then this is definitely the way to go. But the V6 is just fine. Similar Products Used: 99' Oldsmobile Intrigue. (Pretty sad that a luxury sedan that is similarly priced as the V6 Camaro can have a 2 second faster 1/4 mile). |

T/A
Strength:
Power, especially for the price. Mileage reasonable, on trips in 6th gear I have averaged 26-28 mpg regularly at 75-80 mph on the interstate.
Weakness:
Missing gear shifts real easy even with the Hearst shifter with the 6 speed. Rain pours in window if you want some fresh air during a storm. Not much out there for the price for a car with good looks and great power. I would hope Pontiac would put the LS-1 engine in something like the Grand Prix, or perhaps use the Firebird frame and put a 4 door sedan body on it. With the 6 speed and V-8, it would give BMW something to think about. Similar Products Used: Drove 99 Cobra. Cobra handled better, but noticably less power than the LS-1 in the T/A |

Looked great, good performance
Weakness:
Paint, transmission, A/C, noise, interior quality. Bought many of these cars, From the base Firsebird to the Trans-am. Loved the car hated the dealer visits. The A/C would not blow very cold, serpentine belt bracket broke 3 times before they got it engineered right, paint faded always within 18-24 months. Blew a trany at 15k miles, blew an engine at 55k miles. Fuel pumps galore/ replaced A/C systems, nothing but problems with this and the Camero's. Loved the car, hated the problems. Strength:
It looks great! I gets looks all the time. It runs smooth. Sounds good for a V6 Un-like many of the Trans AM crowd I did not want the V8. As long as I can do 70 on the freeway and look good doing it - Good enough! I have many options to make the car look even better. I have read many negative messages on here and other sites about the back seats being too small. Its a sports car people!
Weakness:
I have heard the rotors worp. They did on my Grand AM and Gran Prix too. Thing is for the most part its a good car. I have been checking other cars out too on here. Ford,GM, ect...-- They all have people come to work tired, drunk or what ever. Those cars they work on that day suck too. I rate this car better then most cars I have had. It has its draw backs like a long heavy door, small seats in back, hump on passenger side on floor, ( wife is 4'10" ) so she fits in OK. I checked into informational sites and checked out the car in person and chose to except the negatives because the positives are so good. I bought it for the looks and the ride, not to bus kids to and from school. I hope it holds together. You never know till you buy that car, cause one Firebird may be great while the one next to it at the show room is just waiting for a sucker. Thats the same for Ford and so on. Formula Firebird WS6
Strength:
I love the power, it lays you back in your seat. The 6 spd is nice when on the highway, your rpm's are low and you'll actually get not to bad of millage.
Weakness:
The skip shift is annoying as &*^&%^%. The factory exhaust sucks, so i replaced it with Dynomax, the paint fades real easy so i got a custom paint job, the stereo sucked so i replaced that as well. I haven't had too many problems, but if you do, don't bring it to your local GM dealership to get fixed, cause you'll leave with more problems than you already have. I love the car to death, i've spent beyond tonnes of cash pimpin' it out. Its got everything you need, the only thing i can't stand is the skip shift.....is that ever a useless feature. You can buy an eliminator for it. I would never own another one, if is stick with a GM product i think i'll go with a corvette. The firebird just gets boring after awhile. Its fun and fast and will get you in all kinds of trouble, but its just a cheap sports car and theres a tonne of stuff better out there.
