Strength:

Looks nice, flashy, doors open nicely. Seats are comfortable.

Weakness:

1986/1997 Mechanical parts don't hold up from day one. Constant Engine maintenace. 1986 5.0 5L HO engine.

24,000 1986, 32,000 for the 1997 (Too pricey). Would never buy a GM product again.

Not even close to a Ford Mustang when it comes to engine reliability. Got rid of the 86 and bought a 90 Mustang which I kept for 7 years. Thought I'd try out the Trans Am again 1997 - fit and finish lacking. After reading reliability reviews, decided against it.

Strength:

Fun to drive, comfortable to ride in, strong engine, good power, t-tops are awesome, it turns heads, it just has the LOOK.

Weakness:

Personally there's this squeak coming from behind the driver's seat somewhere in the back of the car but that's just in my car. Besides that, I don't have any weaknesses. From my friends, they don't like the lack of backseat room but that's not my problem, is it? :)

$8500 for my car, with only 35,000 miles on it at the time, and it's still worth over $11,000. I would definitely recommend a Firebird to anybody who likes to drive sports cars and have fun.

Strength:

Great looks, a good amount of power, not a mustang!

Weakness:

none yet

When i first got this i was very impressed with the power and handling for the money. For christmas i ordered the Lingenfelter upgrade on the engine and suspension. Now i have ~420 hp and the ride is more sporty. the mods cost about $15k but if you can afford it- definetly go for it. I can smoke some vettes now and i'm always on the prowl for those craptacular ford ponys.

Strength:

1.Strongest stock small-block I've ever driven
2.see above

Weakness:

Pontiac might actually kill this car.

This car is not for candy-ass, light-footed drivers. The LS-1 pulls like the old big blocks but without the fuel economy trade-off. First run at the strip produced a 13.58 after a missed gear. 13.20-13.30 the rest of the way. I certainly hope you Honda owners don't think a big American car can't hang with you. The Formula in stock configuration takes a corner with forces that border on violence. Mustang trashing has been made easy with these new F-Bodies. About the only drawback is the first to fourth skip-shift. But that is easily dispatched. Not a drawback but a costly feature is the smoky burnout capability. With enough tourqe to pull down a four bedroom colonial, rear tires will disappear in a hurry. This car comes on huge in the midrange, pressing you firmly into the comfortable bucket, and rocketing the car past 100mph a little quicker than you expected. You get to 60 in just a hair over 5 seconds. Well laid out, easy to use interior appointments.

Bottom line: I paid just a shade over 22,000 for this one. It has to be the best performance buy on the planet, bar none. Some cars are built to haul things and people, this car was built to haul ass. So strap in, dump the clutch, and stand back m/f; cause it's gonna be a helluva ride

Everything about it: Looks, style, horsepower, handling, paint, Hurst 6 speed shifter, T-tops, 4 wheel disk brakes, ABS, leather seats, power windows, power locks, alarm, daytime running lamps, cruise control, Monsoon CD 10 speaker system, power lumbar seats, remote radio controls on steering wheel, ergonomics, viewability, WS-6 package, dual exhaust, limited slip differential, Ram air induction system, functional air scoops, 17 inch chrome rims, 5th & 6th gear overdrive, V8 engine, torque, grip, Goodyear P275/40ZR17 Eagle F1 tyres, and most of all....IT IS NOT A FORD!!!!!!!!!!

Weakness:

Have not found one yet, and I don't think I will!

-2000 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS-6 Ram Air Package
-$33,320.51 w/ tax and license

I bought this 2000 Pontiac on Christmas Eve of 1999 for a present to myself for a really hard year of work. Since the day I got it, I have not been disappointed. This is a really great car and talk about turning heads. Great looks, great style, great lines.

Power? Stomp on the gas and there is 320 horses in this V8 engine. Will take that Ford Mustang GT off the line easily. Car sounds terrific from the low restriction dual exhaust system. The handling package is fantastic, takes a corner like it's on rails. If the back end breaks out, this car corrects with a simple flick of the steering wheel. The Goodyear Eagle F1 P275/40ZR17 tyres grip the road better than any tyre I have ever purchased for any car.

You want to turn heads and make a statement, this car is it. I own a 1976 Cheverolet Camaro and was seriously looking into a 2000 Cheverolet Camaro Z28 SS, the main reason was the Pontiac just looks MEAN. Pontiac did a great job on the style, lines and paint job. Black exterior and ebony interior. Reaching all the controls in this car is a piece of cake. Great ergonomics. Great visability, even with the rear spoiler, with all the glass surrounding the cockpit. With the T-tops off, it is just as good as a convertible.

Compared to previous models from GM this is the most solid "F" body car they have produced. Entering and exiting this vehicle is easy and if you are under 6'4", there is plenty of room in the front. There is even head room in the back of the car, shocking ain't it? No squeaks, no rattles. Very solid car.

The Hurst shifter glides from gear to gear and feels like butter. Having 6 gears is a great gas saver. Doing 80 mph on the freeway and having the engine turn at 1500 rpm's is amazing. Acclerating off the line is just a pure adreline rush.

Warranty, if I need it, no-deductible 3 years, 36,000 miles, courtesy transportation, 24 hour roadside assistance w/ towing. I hope never to use the warranty, except for regular oil changes, and tune ups.

I would recommend this car to anyone who likes to drive. Someone who can take the tops off and just likes to cruise either down the highway or a casual jaunt down to the supermarket.

I wouldn't recommend this car to people who drive slow or keep it in the garage 90% of the time. This car is made to be driven.

Like the ads say..... PONTIAC, WE BUILD EXCITEMENT!!!! They sure do.

Weakness:

harsh ride
small back seat
could use a little more power
stock radio/speakers are low quality and sound bad

It's a 1991 Trans Am w/ the WS6 package. 305 TPI automatic. I got it for $3000 dollars (a steal, I might add... probably a 5500 dollar car) almost a year ago. It's been a great car. Since it's a '91 model, it's comparatively rare, as few of these cars were made compared to the 82-89 models. The styling on the '91 and '92 cars is also really unique, it uses many cues from the 1989 Banshee show car, and Pontiac gave the last of the third generation Trans Ams a redesigned 'beak' and curved ground effects. This body style holds the record of being the fastest stock bodied sedan in the world, when recently a 92 T/A ran 308mph at Bonneville.

There are none like it around where I live, and it turns heads all the time with its extroverted looks. The car came with 16x8 inch GTA style wheels, and currently has 245/50/16 tires on it. With the tight (tight to the point of rattling fillings and making you sick if you eat and then drive right away - the WS6 suspension on the car is that harsh) suspension, taking off-ramps marked at 35mph at 90mph is very easy. Try that in a Fox body Mustang! I often find myself wishing that the suspension was less harsh, since I only drive on the edge every now and then. The ultra tight suspension also causes these cars to develop squeaks and rattles when driving on undermaintained roads.

It's got ample power on the street, and with the abundant torque of the TPI system, passing, pulling onto the highway, and street driving in general is a breeze, as it should be. The car ran a low 15 when I took it to the track. It's been pretty responsive to the minor, mosly free mods I've done. Though the 15.3 I ran isn't bad, I wish it has been faster stock, but that'w what the 350 TPI was for, I guess. The car came with a very small emissions camshaft that put a real damper on the amount of power it has (205hp stock). Thank GM and their continual stupity for that. Well if you can't tell, I really love the car, it kicks ass and as I mod it more in the future it will kick even more ass.

Strength:

Its awsome power is it strongest point. The WS6 ram air is more powerful than the Comaro SS. It is faster than both the Comaro and Mustang.

Weakness:

It is not the best daily driver. But what sports car can you drive to work everyday and on the weekend spin your wheels at every stoplight.

The best sports car for the money. It is more practicle than most two seater sport cars. Its bold looks make it different. Either you love the looks or you hate them. As far as performance go the Trans Am is the best.

Strength:

Strong engine, great grip and handling. Nice exhaust rumble. Fun to drive agressively.

Weakness:

General fit and finish of this car is poor. Quality of the interior materials is low, with many cheap-feeling switches/latches with sharp burrs on plastic moldings. For a large sports car as this, there is a surprising lack of leg/knee/head room. The harsh ride and difficult entry/exit is to be expected in a car like this, but there should be more passenger room, especially in a car with only 2 real seats.

Definately a fun car to own if you have access to roads that let you exploit the cars handling and acceleration. Not a good car for a rough-road city commute, or if you plan on carrying anything other than a average-sized passenger. Head-turning looks and exhaust note are not for everyone, and are sure to attract the attention of the local law enforcement. Best as a second car, and for individuals willing to overlook the car's low interior quality.
