Rear end doesn't look as nice as the G35. Stillen Type 1 wing fixes this problem. Only $399 for the wing.

I bought my 350Z after researching and test driving for nearly 2 months. I will admit that I really did want the car, there for my research was geared to find all the pros on the car and to reinforce those findings. Now an owner of the car for 3-4 months now I am very pleased with the car. I do not drive this car daily, but rather 2-3 days out of the week (Fri., Sat., sometimes Sunday). It is a pleasure to start this machine and to hear the finely tuned stock Nissan exhaust purr as the 287hp 3.5liter VQ motor exhales. The engine warms up really quickly, I hate cars that take too long to warm up because I typically wait until the vehicle reaches normal temperature before driving off. Once on the road, it is a very strong animal that is easy to control, whether a mild mannered motor vehicle operator seeking style and tight suspension characteristics or an all out sports car enthusiast looking for an endless power band, bottom end power that defines the word "torque", and brakes that will sling your tush through the windshield if you aren't careful. A few posts were placed regarding this cars' seats being uncompfortable. Hmmm, I am 5' 9 190lbs, w/ a 32" waist. I am an average build. I am very comfortable in the seats, my friend (6'4, 235lbs) is comfortable in the seats. Comfort, is debateable, and I am not trying to enter a debate on a intangible, immeasureable preferrance. I just want the public to know that they need to sit in the car and see if they like how the seats feel and not be persuaded by a handful of individuals who spoke badly about it. This is the first car I have owned that I have not tested its top speed limits on, however, have no doubts that it is fully capable of reaching the max speed labeled on the speedometer. The suspension characteristics are unreal and to say the least, "brag-worthy". I have whipped this car around near "hair-pin" turns and while being a skilled driver on dry road conditions felt the car take the turn effortlessly. I have read several negative posts about the stereo. I have an ear for stereos. I have participated in sound competitions and many of my friends including my brother currently do participate in sound competitions. The factory equipped 240-watt BOSE system in the Z is well-designed, adequately powered and crisp. It has great bass and its mids, and highs are nearly of glass shattering capabilities. The warranty is good, infact, better than Hondas' warranty (not speaking down towards Honda, but merely comparing reputable brand warranties) in that Nissan has a limited warranty that carries the vehicle beyond the 3year/36k warranty to 5years/60k miles for the powertrain. Overall best bang for the buck in the sports car class in my humblest fo opinions. For $30,000 you can beat or at least compare many other cars a priced higher in horsepower, braking, and handling (just to name a few: Audi TT, Honda S2000, Mustang Mach 1 (this car has more HP, but is slower than the Z in the quarter and sloppy in the twisties), BMW Z3 and Z4, and Porsche Boxster. Not to mention this car is one of Car and Driver's "10 Best". What I find so funny is that the people who complain about the car, complain as if they didn't know that they were purchasing a race-inspired automobile, that in ordered to achieve the responsive suspension of a race car, that feeling a bump or two is a by product. This a race inspired car, if you want luxury, power, and plush ride, then by an SL55.

Alignment, constant rattles, constant creaks, mediocre nissan service, cheaply made,

Nissan 350z= excellent design but horrible engineering. I had previously owned 3 bmw's and decided to try a "japanese" cars as I was sick of having minor glitches with the bmw's. Having owned a toyota mr2 and honda accord in my highschool days I was ready to try a japanese car again. The nissan 350Z is a fun fast car but the quality is horrible. Within the first year, I had 4 realignments, went throught 2 sets of tires (avg 8K per tire). Doors and dashboard creaked constantly. Interior noise was unbearable (installed dynamat, helped but the tires roared due to alignment problems) SUSPENSION I had no problems with the stiff ride, but the suspension was always hopping and I felt every rock, branch, stick on the road. I just bought a 03 honda accord and must say that the quality is on par with the bmw I have owned. The handling is also very comparable to the Z without the harsh ride. Summary Think twice before buying a Z as this model was definitely a flop. You can try to fool and convince your self, but you will be eventually be decieved after several months of ownership. I loved the car for the first 6 months but thereafter, I will never buy a nissan again. Nissan service is also mediocre at best, I had to constantly tell them what the TSB where and they could never keep track of all the glitches with the Z let alone all the other new nissan vehicles. Buyer Beware..

Recalled front end. They fixed the alignment and put new tires on it. Still have the problem, Nissan told me to try different tires. So count on replacing your front tires every 8 thousand miles, or it sounds like your riding on your rims.

Awesome car, handles great. I think everyone should have one. When you look at the overall rating of this car I do recommend it to everyone, just make sure you get one that never had alignment problems, they will get you.

WoooooooHooo!!! I wasn't even considering this car... all it took was one drive. Firm ride, normal geartrain noise, nice exhaust sound... all the look, feel and sound of a true sports car! If you want a luxury ride, then you're looking at the wrong car. It handles so well and is so balanced that it doesn't even make my wife nervous at speed!!! More fun for me!

although i am a chevy man at heart, i have owned and loved a 1983 280zx, and a 1990 300zx, and decided to trade my 1999 Corvette hardtop for an '03 350z touring model due to piss poor service on the vette. i love my car(chrome silver, auto) even though i am not a big fan of foriegn cars, or automatics for that matter.although very noticably slower than my vette was this car is every bit as much fun 2 drive. doesnt turn quite as many heads, but almost. i bought it used in mar 0f 04 with 10450 mi. now has 23900 and have had no problems except that the vette not only cornered a little better, but also rode much better. doesnt smash u back into your seat like the vette, but is as fast as most people need. i would recommend this car to anyone interested

Everything else

I was impressed by the looks of this car. Since then I have had several problems. First, the left window stopped working. They replaced it immediately. Second, the A/C started making a strange noise. They had it replaced. Third, the transmission would not get into third. They replaced it too. At this time, I was starting to get worried about what I bought. Fourth, right window stops working. I am not surprised anymore that they replaced it. But one year of warranty has gone by and I dont know anymore if the car will hold together for the five years I got (bought extended). Fifth, transmission gets into fifth gear and will gear to neutral on its own. Already avoided a couple of accidents. Sixth, during all these repairs the mechanics have scratched all over the car bumper, stick shift and rims. I dont know what to do anymore. Any of you lawyers that can give me an advise. My advise, dont buy yourself problems. Looks cool but after a couple of months the problems will surpass the excitement. I dont think I would ever buy or recommend Nissan in my life.

Handling is awesome, smooth acceleration points with a very easy to shift manual transmission. Exceptional low end torque. I have started my car in 3rd gear. Extreme attention and on-lookers. I have had policeman pull up alongside my car and give me a high five. Beautiful lines. Great gas mileage for a sports car.

Weakness:

Road noise, Blind spots, not enough rubber in the rear for high performance.

Great Value for a performance sports car. Just test drove a Porsche Boxster S anniversary addition to compare. The Z outperformed the boxster in ride, gear box, stereo, comfort, ease of entry and exit, access to seat belts... The boxster did well in braking and handling, but the Z performed as good or better in almost every category. I felt like I was driving a cadillac when I got back in my Z. I had to replace the front tires through the dealer (at no cost), and have the front and rear adjustments done. Now the car drives better than new. I have also checked the vin for recall on the stereo, and mine was not listed, however, several have been recalled. If your stereo performs poorly, check with the dealer, you might have a bad amplifier. My stereo is awesome! Overall, the Z has exceeded my expectations and saved me thousands of dollars in additional expense for another type of luxury sports car.

Fun to drive, sticks to the road, gratifying speed, looks great. Decent gas mileage, especially highway, up to 29 mpg.

Weakness:

Transmission noisy even after replacement of multiple parts. Loud road noise (Rough ride, but it is afterall a pure sports car). Little storage capacity.

This was my first new car ever. Overall, not a good choice. The excellent driving characteristics and speed have probably ruined me for many other cars in the future, while the third transmission installation in less than 7 months has left a bad taste in my mouth. The initial complaint was clattering in the transmission in 6th gear around 50 mph. The car also still exhibits a clattering noise when turning the car off, while in neutral without the clutch pedal depressed. In an attempt to correct these noises, they have replaced not only the transmission, but also the throwout bearing, clutch disk, and flywheel(beyond me why Nissan elected to use a three piece flywheel in a sports car, which will be driven hard at times). The flywheel pieces are merely pressed together, allowing slippage within the flywheel itself under heavy torque. In addition, I have had my front tires replaced for the now-typical problem of uneven wear and tire noise due to incorrect adjustment at the factory. I was informed by the dealer that this is a common problem with these cars. The dealership, as well as a Nissan Corp. representative, has been very cooperative so far, but if this next transmission doesn't fix the problem, I'll be starting lemon law proceedings.

Horrible suspension system. R~O~U~G~H~E~S~T ride ever. Very low~quality sounding BOSE stereo system. Uncomfortable seats. Loud tire and road noise.

**ROUGHEST RIDING CAR I HAVE EVER DRIVEN** I must be the briefest 350Z owner in history. I bought the car and 15 minutes into my drive on the highway, I was shaking and bouncing around so much with every slight bump in the road that I couldn't stand it. I then headed back toward the dealership and insisted on cancelling the contract. Although I had initially test driven the car with the salesman, we stayed on smoother roads. It wasn't until I took the car out on the highway that I received the full impact of the sheer roughness of the cars suspension. The car looks great, but has nothing else to back it up. Nissan needs to return to the drawing board on this one.
