9000rpm red line- i won't take the 04'model with its 7900rpm red line now its like a rsx.. get a 02'or 03'version and supercharge it if you want torque.. 50/50 weight distribution- you will be spoiled and expect this from everything you drive again 1998cc 4 banger - light car and with low gas(I never had more than a quater tank) The fastest was without a passenger and the gas light on in the dense winter air The look: this is really a amaizing looking car top up or down - ask mazda why the front of the RX8 and BMW why the rear of the Z4 look like a S2000. Ask Porsche why the roof of the 911 or boxter don't look remotely as good 5 yr powertrain Warrenty Honda made in Japan- only CRV and Insight come from Japan - My family we don't drive any cars that the vin does not start with "J" RED START BUTTON - now others are coping it as well cheap insurance $129/month-no accidents or speeding tickets in 6yrs-but other cars were waaaaaaaaaayyyyyy more
Weakness:
spark plugs spunn out of the engine- then came the recall after many of us complaied for months.. differant NGK plugs and torqued a few pounds tighter.. drivetrain- oh did i say I broke it: well i dropped the clutch at about 5-6000 once in a while but the clutch was perfect when it came out... linkage in 00' S2000 slacks and this was beefed up in 01' model plastic rear window- well I never drove car with the top up unless rain and it gets cold in canada- 02' model got glass rear window no clock in 00'-designer wanted you to be lost in time - I love it but we were always late to the movies THANKS- first i saw a review that read Tyra Banks skin, Marylyn Monroe curves and most of all that Barry White exhaust note...now its been a couple of yrs now and the car is sold and Mr.White is sadly gone as well.. But the memories they both gave me will be with me a lifetime... I only sat in this car at the Detroit auto show and read these reviews I never even saw the car but I put a $5000 deposit over the phone contingent on my approval and when that time came well I signed on the dotted line after the first test drive.. The car was babied by the owner of the dealership and older gentleman who drove his crv(no pilot at the time) at the first sight of rain.. Well I was 27 at the time and I drove the car like I stole it and well there was a time I almost took the passenger seat out so it would be only for me and my dog. I drove the car faster when I was alone-if my passenger started screaming while the car was sideways it would throw me off and then I was worried I would spin the car out.. But alone I always new my limit.. The car got so much attention back then and I was not ready to deal with.. People don't look at this car they stare at it.. Then they want to know what it is.. The people, who know Honda cheer, give you the thumbs up and few times even people on the sidewalks cheering you on.. Well I am lazy and the car has a 9000rpm red line so I didn't shift until max torque at 8300rpm.. When I got near a bus stop the noise and the speed would scare the people waiting for a bus that they would move back a few steps in fear...it was like an automatic 2nd gear on the city streets and 3rd well for a little faster roads.. Never cared for the hwy as stone chips, cabin noise and boredom. The attention from the ladies was surprising and the best compliment came from kids who always told me they drove it on grand tuarismo video game.. my answer was always "it’s just a HONDA" and that was the reason for all this attention.. The common man drives a Honda not an exotic and this was there car to root for and that felt good... I drove the car for each married man who was driving his kids in his Honda minivan or SUV ... I did not care for the "paycheck" kids(supped up civic) much even though they seemed to think they could add to my car well each paycheck.. I did not want the supercharger yet and I was fine with 16inch rims.. For me this was the best fun and test of skill of any car I had driven before.. I started out slow and by the end and with professional help I could drive the car without a clutch and enjoy the 50/50 weight distribution and lack of torque let me find the limits on turns as the car would come back to me if I eased off on the gas.. But it was great to see "If in doubt push it down" theory on the track as the it is against almost everything your body tells you.. This is an uncompromising machine.. If you are tall its awful, wide shoulders and you feel like you are sitting in the bus next to two bodybuilders... cannot use a cell phone-too loud.. Stop working out and your body will start to hurt like you were in an accident... love your eye sight-always wears lenses (especially clear ones at night)..Forget the suitcase-weekend trip pack the trunk... no kids in the passenger seat-cannot turn off air bag... love music-forget it the only song is the sweet sound of the engine.. Use the cup holder and you cannot shift.. I am a selfish guy and I never bought the car for any of these so I NEVER CARED... the winding roads and a little bit of SKILL Similar Products Used: BMW 330ci-I always know the way a beemer handles 99'Porsche 911-if you don't know how to drive a porsche it will drive you- I think i still need more hard work(skill) to drive this car.. and not as reliable- expensive parts.. I have seen Plastic pressure plates that have cost guys 5k Z3-fun I mean it and lots more torque-but i cannot buy it its not made in Germany |

excellent power to weight ratio, excellent acceleration, excellent chassis stiffness and balance, excellent suspension...everything about this car is very well put together and set up, from the nice 9k rpm engine, to the fast folding soft top. this car is at home on backroads as it is on the racetrack. learn to drive this car well and you will learn to appreciate what quality automotive engineering is. excellent purebred, "real-world" race car. very nice car, very nice :)
Weakness:
absolutely nothing, it is the perfect 2nd car for those of us drivers whole genuinely LOVE to drive, not for people who like to show off (for these people, go buy a mortgage money car like a ferrari and go around the city wasting 9mpg and then whine about it) Again, this car is perfect for what it's meant for, pure JOY This is a purebred sport car, a great buy for those who genuinely enjoy brisk driving with motorcycle-like enjoyment, dont mind having 2 cars and are not caught up in the "I wish I had an f40", "fast and the furious" BS immature wishful thinking Similar Products Used: corvette-not bad but lacks the balance of the s2000 boxster- better than the s2000 but about 30k more and i can't afford it yet. Lotus Elise- best sport car in the world, i'm buying one of these in 2004 when they come to the US |

Great engine with 240 horses. Newly modified suspension, tames the car at high speeds. Fantastic fit and finish ensures a rattle free journey. New 17 wheels are georgeous and the car is just as sexy as can be.
Weakness:
The sound system at higher speeds is lost in the wind. Limited storage and trunk space, but otherwise can't think of any real weakness Traded a 2003 Infinity G35 Coupe for the Honda and the difference in quality is incomparable in favor of the Honda. They've really changed the S2000 for '04. Going from 2 liters to 2.2, and giving the car much more low end torque, makes this much more fun than the '03 it replaces. The body changes are subtle but appealing, and the dash is more entertaining. I can't believe how tight and rattle free this little convertible is. You feel more connected in this car than any car I have ever owned, including some costing more than twice this car's price. The limited production of the car ensures you won't see yourself coming and going. And it's just about the most fun you can have for the price. Almost everything you would look for in this type of car.
Weakness:
Stereo is horrid, must learn to overcome low end torque with new a new driving style. Incredible value but unbelievable car regardless of price. If don't like a high strung race car that's only a notch or two below the big leagues then this isn't the car for you. Anyone who rode motorcross with a screaming 2-cycle dirt bike that had a power band that delivered a grin only the rider can understand will live in this car. Learn to drive it and the V-Tech will become a part of your life you look forward to everytime you get in but over the long haul you will learn to enjoy the stiff frame, racing steering, mid-engine handling and smooth/tight transmission. Styling, handling, position of controls in cockpit, performance, reliability, high strung nature, limited production status, body structure and tightness.
Weakness:
Poor sound system, nothing that can't be cured by a good autosound shop, high strung nature, lack of storage, no clock, car really needs to warm up before tranny can be shifted smoothly. Bridgestones are noisy, will probably put Michelin Pilots on car when it comes time. Have been looking at buying a two seat convertible for the last six months. Miata was cute but anemic performance, Z3 was too pricey for the performance plus the maintenance costs. Trust me I have a 1998 528i which is a great car but take a deep breath before you go in for service. The Porsche Boxter, eh, pricey with a lot of problems from the people that I know that own one. The S2000 is the sleeper of the group. Stunning aggressive looks, Honda reliablility and race car performance if your willing to push the limit with it. Plus, you don't see 10 of you on the way to work every morning. As for the torque curve lets put this in perspective. If, and I emphasize if you know how to shift smoothly you can roll through the gears quickly and smoothly shifting at 4000/4500 rpm or so and be doing 60 mph plus before you know what's happened. Let's be realistic here. How many times can you use that 6000-9000 rpm range in everyday driving. You just have to know how to use the gearbox and keep the engine reasonably in its power range. I would not recommend this as an everyday car because of its high strung nature but if you want a unique high performance roadster with reliability this is it. Tightest frame on a convertible perhaps ever, mid-engine and incrdible handling, V-Tech-ing at 8000 RPMS, eating up Boxsters, Mustang GT's, mid-90's 911...
Weakness:
Radio, wind noise. I can understand why some people may not like this car, but for those that do like a unique, high-strung car there is nothing to compare with it. I wanted a Boxster in the worst way, drove at least a dozen. The Honda eats it up the standard Boxster in performance, handling, steering and tightness, there are not many around so you also get lots of attention. It is even in performance to the Boxster S and better in almost all other areas for nearly 20K less. Similar Products Used: Audi 3.0 Cabriolet, Lexus SC400 |

Amazing power for a four clyinder. Great styling and very impressive handling.
Weakness:
Needs more gear for the rear axle to compensate for the lack of low end torque. If you love to "Drive" a car, then this car is for you. This car makes it's power where other engines would go to pieces. 6500-9000 rpm's! I've had my share of V8 powered car's and I'll admit this was different, but once you get the hang of it, this car is a total scream. Every time I park it, I dont want to get out of it. Weak acceleration, Cramped seats, and lack of imagination in the interior design Very very disappointed. So I am eyeballing this car for months and decided to get one. The dealer let me take it for a test drive and borrow the car for a couple of hours. I got in the car and noticed how tight everything was which was to be expected. But for 32000 the interior of this car is horrible. Storage space is bad and compared to the other cars in this class and their was nothing on the inside of the car that screamed I paid 32k for this. The car handled like a dream hugging everyturn like a glove but after 30 min of driving I began noticing a aching sensation in my back from the over arched racing seats. And truth be told this car is NOT as fast as people make it out to be. The low end power is terrible for a car with a 240hp engine, but it's a four cylinder so thats to be expected. Weakness:
no torquey feel when strolling around town. You don't feel like you own the road by far due to having to downshift 2 gears to have power. Okay,.... so I go and buy a 2000. You have got to be kidding me, this thing is not fast until at least 6,000rpm's?? For all you racers out there, how often is it that you merge onto the interstate and get to yell out to the car you want to race home "Hold on, let me get my engine up to 6,000 spins before you nail it!!" I also have an 03' Mustang GT Premium Coupe and if you were to pull up to me in one of these cars, you would definitely be history, even for the long run thanks to the superchip, header, Flowmasters, and not to forget that its just American Made! This power I get from my S2000 is almost embarrasing when I get caught with a changing stop light and I stomp it. Guess I am just a V8 fan were torque isn't worried about at any speed or RPM. The car is very small, and it isn't made for long hauls. They are overpriced in my opinion, but hey, when you buy a new car every 3 months or so, who cares right?? But seriously, it feels good to drive due to its low stance and magnet-like feel to the road. Not bad for a Honda I guess. Nice try! Similar Products Used: civic, but no comparison to a Stang GT |
