Strength:
Stylish. V8 has a nice tune.
Weakness:
Bad gas mileadge High insurance Underpowered for a V8 They are very common. Fake hood scoops (domestic rice) Seat is set too high Poor handling Poor resale value, depreciates fast I thought the GT was a fairly fast car, and a comeditor among all the other V8s, and that I was doing our economy a favor buying american. For the size of the engine, it does not deliver. The liter/output ratio is very poor. Will american companies ever be able to get 240 hp out of a 4 banger like the S2000? Imagine what they could do with 4 or 5 liters. Chevy makes a large portion of their cars in mexico, ford makes most of theres in canada. And Chrysler has been an import brand for 8 years now. They also use many of their parts from the land of the rising sun. So patroitism what?? Ford and Chevy need to start making their sport models more refined. I can see why they are dropping the camaro. Educated american consumers are spending their money more wisely these days. Strength:
Looks good, peppy (even with the automatic), At the base price ($16,500 with stick) there''s not much else out there. If your going to get a GT with options, I would look around at the competition.
Weakness:
Handles like the 20 year old technology that it is (like a truck). Actually I have driven trucks that handle better. Poor build and/or quality control. Every body and their dog has one. I got ripped off, but if I had paid a couple hundred over invoice plus tax, minus the 2000 dollar rebate (like I should have) it would have been an ok buy. It''s very cheaply put together though, after 500 hundred miles I had a rattle behind the dash. Now after 3500 miles I have several. NOT ACCEPTABLE, but typical US engineering/build. My wife has a Hyundai with 80,000 miles and it does not rattle or squeek as bad as the Mustang. I will keep it until the next Mustang comes out. It is supposed to have four wheel ind. suspension and a dual o/head cam V6. Welcome to the 20th century FORD! you are a little behind, (it is now the 21st) Similar Products Used: Nissan 300Z, Mitsubishi 3000, |

Strength:
Stock GT''s are fun, but upgraded GT''s can be ridiculously exciting! Comfortable interiors. High speed handling. Pretty good sound system. MOST OF ALL--Potential to do(be) just about anything(what) you want it to do(be).
Weakness:
Bumps! Especially when cornering, these cars side-step. Mileage, but who cares! Abuse it with stock parts and it will forgive you for a couple of years(unlike jap-cars), but not for long after that. Not good for average drivers. I love this car. City driving can be a drag, but this car has a lot of potential if driven correctly. Expensive repairs, but not frequent if driven the way it was intended. This car takes well to upgrading its performance. However, be careful because these cars like to sit on the rear and lift on the front when screaming away from crappy jap-cars out of the light. Get yourself a curvey country road and have fun( don''t do this when wet or you''ll be around a tree real fast). Although these cars are bad with bumps and wet roads, no one really tests workhorse racing cars offroad in the rain anyway. Strength:
lots of pep, sounds tough with the dual chrome mufflers. nice body design looks tough.
Weakness:
glove box is very small and no room in the back seat. basically a 2 seater. no enough gadgets on the dash board, pretty plain. Great Car, runs smooth and very quick, the scoop was redesigned and more bulky on the 2002. haven''t raced anyone yet, but am ready to take on those rice burners. you get a great car for the price. highly recommend. insurance is cheaper now that i am over 25. Similar Products Used: my first sports car, have always loved the mustang. they look much better than the late 90 version. those were so ugly to look at. |

3.8 V6
Strength:
Aftermarket products extremely easy to find. Always gets attention.
Weakness:
Small backseat, but I don''t ride back there and the hood comes to good use for those "fun nights". Rear wheel drive isn''t too great in the snowy winter months. Plenty of power for a 3.8L V6. Add Dual exhaust, a custom hood, spoiler and a few other cosmetic things and it''s a pretty distinguished, nice lookin'' car. A larger engine would be nice, but a smaller engine adds miles on the per gallon scale. Same L on the engine as my Cougar, but more power. Shelby Cobra Replica
Strength:
Beats any production car that lines up next to it from light to light and top end. Only weighs 1,950 lbs. The weight distribution is 50/50 for better handling. The Ferrari F-50 barely beats it but isn''t there only three in the world? I don''t think the Ferrari F-50 is a production car either. Of course if you make this race ready then I believe it would beat the Ferrari F-50 GT1 racing car. You can build one under $30,000!eh hemmm how much are the other cars? So what are you really getting?
Weakness:
Can''t hear the radio over the exhaust. My 65 Shelby Cobra has all stock Mustang parts. The little ol 302 can push my car from 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and 13 second 1/4 miles, top end is 175 mph. Of course with the nitrous hit it will get faster times. The durability of the Ford product is based on the care shown by the owner. In general the Ford Mustang has shown its reliability through out the years. Similar Products Used: Another 65 Shelby Cobra. Other than that are there any? |

Strength:
Runs strong, small (not like that tuna-boat camaro), good handling, good gas milage (for a V8).
Weakness:
Ford should have put a 350 engine in this thing to compete with the tuna-boat. I''m really happy with the 99 stang. They added more horsepower from the 96 to 98 mustangs. Similar Products Used: None |
