Strength:

Good engine. Powerful enough for this light car.

Weakness:

Very inconvinient to drive. Could be very dangerous. Overpriced.

My initial choice was Chevrolet Venture but after talking to my friends I was convinced to by Toyota. I am tall and this car is not for me. I liked the engine and it is about it. The front leg space is to narrow and it is very dangerous because my left leg often slips on the brake. I had to think about it all the time. Even though it is called top of the line luxuriance is not for this price. Toyota has to learn it from GM.

Strength:

Nice ride, if you don''t mind the trail of blue smoke.

Weakness:

Engine sludge! Numerous squeaks and rattles that come and go with weather-- dashboard, right side sliding door, etc. Fit and finish of doors/body isn''t very good.

When we looked at minivans, we liked the Dodge better, but went with Toyota largely because of their reputation for quality. Big mistake! At about 50,000 miles, the engine developed the infamous sludge problem. Yes, it had regular oil changes (4000 mi intervals). No, Toyota won''t honor the warranty (oh, what a feeling!). Our 1992 Escort driving the same duty (my wife and I switch cars regularly, and work at the same place), on the same maintenance schedule, with twice the mileage of the Sienna, has NO sludge! How is it that this "premium" vehicle can''t match the reliability of a 9-year old Escort? If you want a reliable, quality minivan, avoid the Toyota headache and buy Dodge or Honda

Toyota quality Fast V6 Comfortable seats excellent ride great build quality

Weakness:

Inside is a bit small Boring looks

This mini-van is the best, you get bullet-proof toyota reliability. Have 25k miles no problems at all. The V6 is superb and fast. Seats are very comfortable and the ride is excellent, but getting to the 3d row seat is a challenge. It fits 7 people plus luggage/groceries with the greatest of ease. Have all the options except leather and 6 disc cd changer.

The Sludge problem. The automatic door. Generally poor overall quality. Our story is the same as many others so I won''t go into it since it is exactly the same. I have been following this problem now for over a year now and am in a situation where I owe quite a bit more then I can sell it for. And now I''m on the second engine and it''s doing exactly what the first one did. I have tried to figure out whet the real problem is and there seem to be many suggestion but nothing concrete. The engine runs to hot so first I though of putting an over size radiator in it but then realized that it probably would not help because the ports in the engine were to small to start with. I have considered an oil cooler and may still do that. But if the oil is sludging then the answer for the time being may be to use a top grade synthetic oil because the temperature brake down rating is a lot higher then regular oil. I will be trying that tomorrow. I will start with the thickest synthetic I can get. I believe that is the Mobil 1, 50 weight I will have a complete flush before I put the new oil in and see if that helps. We are trying to get a class action suite started but will nee

Please!~ Do not buy a Toyota Porduct! The quality and warrenty went out the window about 4 years ago. If you have any one of about 6 or 7 problems with this vehicle YOU will be paying for the repair when it''s supposed to be under warrenty.

Strength:

Safety. Reliability (thus far). Spacious, comfortable and a relatively powerful engine.

Weakness:

Very minor thus far. The remote button for the sliding door is a little too sensitive but easily worked around. As I said in the review summary, Toyota dealers need to get a clue about customer service. Lexus consistently resides near the top for this and Lexus/Toyota are the same company. What gives? These are the only weaknesses I''ve experienced. Once again, I''ll keep everyone posted if any SLUDGE appears even though I''ve adhered to a preventive maintenance regimen more stringent than the factory dictates but don''t have the relatively useless receipts for the cases of oil I''ve purchased over the years. OBTW, I use Havoline 5W-30. I''m pretty confident this isn''t "cheap" oil as it sounds is a common defense used by chronic warranty-evaders.

Live on an island so, don''t drive it as much as most people (~8k/yr) So far, only have 17,500 miles on it. Thus far, I''ve had no problems like the ones alluded to on this site but am now very wary. I''ve had one problem and that was the radio knob (adjust balance) split in half one day for no reason. The dealer replaced it with no problem. I do all my oil changes every six months which equates to ~ every 4000 miles. I document each oil change(mileage and date) in the correct pamphlet that comes with the vehicle. Unfortunately, I haven''t kept the oil receipts as it doesn''t quite matter anyway when you buy a case of oil on say Jan 1 and don''t use it all until a year later. A receipt with a date a year old doesn''t mean anything relative to whether or not you''ve adhered to Toyota''s prescribed maintenance regimen. I went in knowing all the goods about Toyota (I own a ''95 4Runner) and even the bads(chronically crappy service and dealers with attitudes that won''t stop)(This is all well-documented in Consumer Reports; Toyota dealers are consistently at the bottom for service). I figured that I would wheel and a get a good deal and like my 4Runner, once I''m done buying, it''s a Toyota, I''ll not have to deal with these folks very often. Fortunately, my thought process has been borne out as this vehicle has operated like a Toyota and I''ve not really ever had to talk to any people in the dealership. So, while I''m happy right now with the mini-van, I''ll keep my eyes wide open if any SLUDGE troubles appear AND when I go out to buy any new vehicle. Prior to reading all these posts, it was always Toyota by default. Now, I''ll do even more exhaustive research.

1995 Toyota 4Runner. While it''s not a mini-van, it is a Toyota. It was made in Japan and I just hope the common link to the SLUDGE-mobiles plying our highways isn''t the Toyota plant in Kentucky.

Strength:

Roomy, good handling, inexpensive to operate

Weakness:

alignment issues; last technician said that we would have to have frame work done to get totally in line even though the van has never been wrecked!

Been a great van. Have had constant trouble with the alignment. Aligned 6 times in the first year. 3 times since then.

SAFETY, comfort, stylish just great over all quality and nothing rattles or falls off!

Weakness:

They are definately more expensive but what is the safety of your family worth?

I bought my sienna because of the safety rating it recieved.Four days ago my children and I were in a head on collision at 45 mph.My Sienna was totaled. We walked away from a severe crash because of the Sienna. The driver seat was completely intact. NO intrusion into my legs or steering wheel into my chest. I will DEFINATELY buy another! This car saved my life! The main issue- children suffered no injuries either!!I will go through ANY minor car problems as long as a car is built that it lessens injury to it''s passengers!!!!!
