Nissan Quest (2009 and older) Minivans | Wagons

Nissan Quest (2009 and older) Minivans | Wagons

DESCRIPTION

The 2009 Nissan Quest continues as the most distinctive and original minivan on the market – as well as one of the roomiest minivans in its segment. Following a major redesign just two years ago, changes for 2009 are minimal. The 2009 Quest is offered in four well-equipped models – 3.5, 3.5S, 3.5SL and 3.5SE.

The Nissan Quest powertrain comes from its standard 235-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine, 5-speed automatic transmission and responsive suspension design. A Traction Control System (TCS) is also standard, while Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) is standard on the 3.5 SE model.

Road car handling is not an afterthought with the Quest. The Nissan Quest features a 4-wheel independent suspension with a rear multi-link design and front and rear stabilizer bars. Power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering is also standard, along with 4-wheel vented disc brakes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA) and Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD).

Standard Quest safety features include Nissan’s Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) with dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt and occupant classification sensors, front seat-mounted side impact supplemental air bags and roof-mounted curtain side impact supplemental air bags for outboard occupant head protection for all three rows, front seat Active Head Restraints and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Strength:

Comfort, handling and looks. Lot's of great add on features on this base quest that are worth having.

Weakness:

The only thing I miss about the Toyota were the spilt bench seat and roll down side windows, add this to new version please!

Owned a 2004 Toyota. Yes it was nice but really conventional. It did not give me that 'smile' you wanna have while driving. So I made the move to a Nissan Quest and haven't looked back. The Nissan is an eye catcher with lots of performance and nifty features you don't get in base Toyota Sienna. It's worth a second look before you chose another import van.

Strength:

Many options for price, all of which are practicle. Modern style, instrument panel in middle, easy to use. Fold down middle seats, fold in rear seats, ease of entry to all seats. Good size for tall or big persons.Power front passenger seats. Memory seats.Puddle lights, skylights windows, sun roof good options.Very Quiet vehicle, when walking up to van sometimes have to listen real hard to tell if it is running.

Weakness:

Received with paint chipped, seat backs that don't fit, scratches in dash, crack in instrument face place, front pass. door handle doesn't always retract. Noise from rear driver side sliding door when going over any bump..Annoying glare in windshield all the time.Heated seats, driver side come on when ever they want to.Had van back to dealer twice already, they seem to want to repair, but not yet done.. Still I have to come back etc. They give a loaner car each time.Dealer worked with me at sale time,we feel not shafted. Now waiting to see how service dept. will do.Don't feel screwed yet. DVD player under seat, should be in dash. Should have signal on emergency brake when engaged,or should come off when put in drive, indicator in dash not easly recognised.Controls on stearing wheel should be lighted.Need stronger brakes.Seats could be a little more plush.

This van is to replace a 02 Odyssey. don't know if it can. Love style, features, equipment, ride, handleing for the price paid. Town & Country has great seat options but they are too short seated and too high in front for easy entry/exit.Not for tall people so I ruled out. New Honda not here yet, so I will wait for new one to see if I will trade over.Didn't want to wait until Sept.04 so we bought in March 04. I am a Honda person.

Styling.

Weakness:

Reliability & customer service.

I have been towed 3 weeks in a row for same fuel pump problem! (The last time I was 75 miles from home!) It leaked a puddle of gas twice. Customer service is nil - even at national level. I have picked it up twice from the service department with grease on plastic areas and even on the carpet. No mechanic that has worked on it has ever talked to me about the problem. I would never buy a Nissan again! (4 Months old) The side door rattles, but that seems to be the least of my worries since I haven't been able to drive it 13 of the last 20 days! Oh yeah...since I bought it out-of-state, no loaner car has been made available to me!

Strength:

Roominess, smooth ride, powerful engine, seating arrangement and seats. Great styling.

Weakness:

Gas mileage, but we are hauling a lot. Front seats could be longer. Light to tell you when all the doors are either open or closed. Lighted controls on steering wheel.

The Nissan Quest is very roomy, handles very well and has plenty of power and looks good to. The Nissan Quest fit our families needs perfectly. With wide opening side doors and large back hatch area with smooth power lift door. My wife and I enjoy the heated front seats and large heated mirrors on a frosty winter morning. The heater and A/C is powerful and comfortable. The second row captains chairs fold flat into the floor easily to fit our family needs. The rear sonar is fantastic when backing up with such a large vehicle. We opted for the leather seats for wear and tear with a large family. This is a well thought out and designed vehicle. The Nissan Quest is the "Best mini-van" for our family.

vcr with flip down screen(kids love this), memory power seat, sporty looks, heated mirrors, homelink, temperature thermometer, peppy engine, all kinds of creature comforts. smooth engineand ride. Nissan reliabilty.

Weakness:

firmer breaks, more hp, no fold down 3rd seat, no power doors, everybody always wants more gas milage no mater what van you buy.

Summary Like many of you I have done extensive rearch over and over again trying to determine what mini-van to by. The odyssey or quest or MPV or the sienna. Everthing says go for the honda odyssey. I bought the quest se, and I will tell you why. In my opinion, the quest has the most options of all and is still reliable. Will the odyssey resale value be better than my quest, yes. But I am not looking to sell it, I need to use it. I have a 4 year old and a 1 year and another on the way. Is the odyssey bigger, yup. But how much room do you really need? You have to decide what is best for you and your family. Why should I spend more than I have to, to buy a van that will accomplish the same thing? Think about it. The quest has the more options. The VCR with flip down movie screen, heated mirrors, power memory driver seat, 10 cup holders, abs, power everthing, running boards(honda doesn't offer), homelink(garage opener - again not honda), foglights, alloys, and more. I have all the room my family needs with options the ody can't offer. The quest is the better van for us and I like the sporty looks with the bra on the front. Buy what you need and not what the public dictates you should. I went with Quest, and I am glad I did.

Weakness:

Hard to start in cold weather. Susceptible to engine flooding.

I love this van overall. Have had a problem getting it to start right away one-two times a week. I'm told it is from the cold and to use cold weather starting procedures?!? Never had this problem before. Other than that, Love the size, convenience, auto everything and style. If it wasn't for the starting issue, I wouldn't have anything bad to say.

We wish it didn't have these problems because otherwise we would love it. It is roomy, smart, fun.

Weakness:

The breakdowns

We didn't even bring it home the first day due to blue paint on the doors (our van is white). Since then we have had nothing but problems. The van does not start in the morning and it has broken down twice. We have had this van less than 2 months and it has been in the shop four times.

Engine, ride & handling, SmartShelf, easy to get into and out of.

Weakness:

Yes, the doors DO lock themselves every blue moon, could do with better fuel economy (275 per tankful around town).

After all Birmingham, Alabama dealers wanted too much for a Quest, and only had GXE's in stock, we bought ours in Albertville, AL. After almost 4 years, we have had no major problems. I do have a few tricks/tips to pass on: The sticking throttle is caused by a buildup of varnish/gum on the throttle body, making it stick when you let off the gas. Disconnect the air intake tube from the air filter to the throttle body, buy some GUM-OUT carb cleaner, and spray it liberally on the butterfly valve. The valve is what opens when you give it gas. Wipe up the gunk that the spray dissolves, and the throttle will stick no more! Also, the radio w/no numbers bug bit me just before the warranty expired, so I had a new radio put in. Look on e-Bay, there is a "kit" sold, which is membership to a website. This website is run by a fellow who had this problem, and has a fix for it. The radio is used in Explorers, Expeditions, and other Ford vehicles. I think the fix is $20, but I have heard it is worth it. We love our Quest. We are a family of 5, soon to be six. It could use 30-40 more HP for passing, and an outside thermometer. Also, our TV/VCR is in the console, not the roof as 2001+. All in all, it has been a positive experience.
