Strength:
Engine
Weakness:
Everything else I had a 1989 model of MPV. I had 3 transmission changes in 3 years. Very bad brakes for a van. Cheap interior. Bad frame. Everything made out of plastic. This is why mazda is losing money. Bad car = Bad reputation |

Strength:
Fold down rear seats, and seating plan in genera;
Weakness:
Total lack of power, cheap interior Took the van for a test-drive a couple times, and came to conclusion that while some great improvements have been made there are a couple unavoidable faux-pas. The van is massively underpowered - I had problems passing on the highway at 60+ mph. The interior is very 'plasticky', with an overall cheezy feel. The seats were very firm and park-bench like. It just had a 'not ready for prime time' feel. Similar Products Used: Toyota Sienna |

Strength:
Rear seat option into floor; middle seat/bench option; lots of room, handles well on road.
Weakness:
head rests don't work well with car seats (have to remove head rest), gear shift blocks windshield wiper arm. I have loved this car. We bought MPV as a family car. Has lots of room. Love all the seat options. Sooo easy to move seats around. Love that rear seat that reclines into the floor and middle seat bench/captain chair option. Great price and availablity (Honda was our other option). Similar Products Used: I have driven suburban (hate, too bulky to manuever) and a Grand Caravan (liked but not as many options as MPV) |

Strength:
My family and I enjoy the ample space and convience of this mini-van.The price is excellent compared to other vans on the market.
Weakness:
I do wish it had a bit more power, but there is enough for the average person. I paid 23,000 for my MPV and I would recomend it to anyone,in the time I've owned it Ihave recomended it to several people already Similar Products Used: Dodge Caravan(please don't ask) |

Strength:
Great interior design, easy to get around and very comfortable. Seating arrangements can be modified to many different configurations.
Weakness:
Can't see the CD buttons as the gear shift lever is blocking the line of sight. Great value relative to the competition. We were considering the Honda van but the MPV had more features at a lower price. Mazda also offered 2.9% financing. This decision was a no brainer. The van rides and handles extremely well. We are very happy with this van and can't wait to take it on a driving vacation. The kids love it. Innovative features include side windows that open and the flip around rear seat. Lots of leg room in all seats. Similar Products Used: 1990 and 1998 MPV, Chevy Astro |

Strength:
Quality, reliability, good accessories (dual AC/ dual heaters, towing pacakge, electric windows) good off-road capability
Weakness:
poor mileage Like many parents, my wife and I needed a mini-van for carrying kids and gear, but also wanted to do wilderness camping and most SUV's were too small to carry much gear. (We bought this before the Ford Expedition came out). While somewhat small for a minivan the MPV is large for an SUV (it still barely misses the top of the garage door) and thus suited us well. In three years and 27,000 miles we have had no mechanical problems whatsoever. It is no speed demon but takes a family of four, plus extensive camping equipment, water and food into the desert on a regular basis. It has good road clearance, better I believe than some purported SUV's and the differential lock gives a real boost in difficult situations. My wife appreciates the size and height of the vehicle. At the time we bought it there were no minivans with 4 doors and 4 electric windows. The latter feature is very useful in our hot climate. Similar Products Used: Thisis the first minivan I have owned. I drove a Windstar for several days, but it is not an offroad vehicle so I can not compare. Previously I owned a Tercel 4wd which was smaller, less powerful and not as effective off-road. |

Strength:
flexible seating, interior design and layout, handling, compact size for a mini-van
Weakness:
size means that seating for 7 can be a stretch Tremendous product for price--all the important convenience features of the Honda for about 10K less. Handles like a sedan not a boat (see Toyota or Chrysler for that!) Love the styling, the interior features (especially the slide-by-side middle row and disappearing third row). Complaints about acceleration are only valid with a full load (all seven passengers, cargo) and under certain circumstances--like merging at highway speed. Visibility is excellent, controls are logically placed and easy to use. Convenience package is a must, and I love the dark green ext./tan interior combination. Perfect for our family (m/f plus two small children). Similar Products Used: drove a odyssey, sienna, chrysler, ford, and a montana |

Strength:
Good Japanese quality.(last van in north America assembled in Japan)
Weakness:
Some complain about power lack. But to me the engine is pretty smouth and quite. I found Odissey better(3.5 engine, ind rear suspension), BUT!!! you can not compare the prices. Similar Products Used: Quest |

I purchased a 00 Mazda MVP. This vehicle cost me $23,202.I wanted the high end model, and although the extras and the package cost me extra, It was well worth it. The leather seats are very comfortable and the visibility is great. I think that this is the best looking minivan on the road right now. I really like the electric rear windows(something that no other minivan has). The thing that really sold me was the price. All the other minivans (Windstar/Sienna/Venuture)were not attractive as far as price is concerned. These minivans had a very high price for the higher end models (Ford's SEL/Toyota's XLE).The Mazda dealers were very fair in negotiating a price and were very courteous.I recommend this minivan to people don't need an extremely large minivan. If you want adequate space, comfortable interior, and a sporty look, then consider MVP. My first time with a Mazda product and I have had no problems. |
