Strength:
The size, and maybe something else I can't remember. Wait, no that's it!
Weakness:
The five letters on the back that say "Dodge", the transmission, the paint, the steering, and many other crummy parts that break randomly. It reminds me of Microsoft! Also it depreciates really quickly. It's only worth 700 bucks now a few months from when we bought it! We bought this van from my parents, who owned it for about 5 years. I know for a fact that they had a $3000 tranny rebuild done on it a while ago. When I got the van, it seems ok for a 12 year old vehicle, but that soon went out the window. We had to drive across Canada for Military activites, and we put over $1000 into it, just to keep it on the road. Then we replaced the battery, the starter, the horn, and some other small things. This van is going to nickel and dime us into the ground, hopefully it'll get us back to Calgary. If you are a student, and you have no money for emergencies, don't touch a Chrysler, or a Dodge. It'll cost you a pretty penny in the long run, and dealer repairs are expensive too! We've had a few strange "gremlins" running around, like when the oil light came on, and the van stopped, but the crankcase was full, and everything else was fine. To be honest, I can't believe that this thing is still running. Only God Himself can keep this thing going! Similar Products Used: Dodge Caravelle 1988, ran pretty good till I was rear ended. |

Strength:
Dual doors, great interior
Weakness:
transmission This is the sorriest vehicle as far as the transmission goes and that is pretty serious in the world of cars. I dont't know 1 single individual with one that has not had transmission problems which is what prompted me to inquire on a site like this. Anyone who thinks that they have to accept a vehicle with transmission problems just because it hits a hundred or more thousand miles is not the sharpest tool in the shed or has probably been whodood by some car salesman. People you have every right to expect that a well maintained vehicle can go 150,000 to 300,000 without transmission problems. It happens all the time I know because I used to work for a company with a fleet of cars(not chrysler) and my husband has had 2 chevys hit 275,000 and 258,000 before retirement and when sold they were still running fine. I will continue to drive my caravan untill it dies and then it will retire and be replaced with a Honda Odyssy or Chevy Venture. |

NOne as of now. If something arises, I will keep you posted....... About a year ago, my wife and I decided to trade our old 1993 Dodge Grand Caravan LE AWD for a brand new Caravan. Seems like trading twenty five cents for a quarter, but it's not ! It,s been a year since we own this 2001 Dodge caravan sport with the touring option, and we love it ! We did try out products from other manufacturers, and the Honda Odyssey came very close. But since we were getting excellent service from our dodge dealer, and the fact that the model had a complete makeover, incited us to give the caravan another try. We took the chance of buying a first-year model of a new generation caravan, which is, in my opinion, a risk. At first, we were VERY skeptical as to it's reliability, since the old caravan had a transmission problem. But with 23000 Km on the odometer, well...........so far, so good ! The vehicule offers a smooth, quiet ride. The chassis is much stronger than the previous model. I have four-wheel disc brakes....and boy, these brakes have power! The suspension is a little stiff, but reduces swaying from side to side on winding roads. As for the engine, it is smooth, but would benefit from a little increase in horsepower. But for day to day travelling, this engine gets the job done, not to mention good gas mileage too ! The interior is functional and good looking. Similar Products Used: 1993 Grand Caravan LE AWD |

Strength:
It keeps going and going...the energizer bunny of mini-vans
Weakness:
The interior rips easily and does not resist to much pressure The creation of the minivan is one of the best things Chysler has done. We have an '86 that we've put over 250,000 miles on and only replaced the transmission once. It is still running great and has never died or even got close to it. Although it's square and not to pleasent of an interior Caravan's are still the only kind of minivan I would buy. Similar Products Used: 1998 Dodge Caravan SE has a much better interior and the exterior is very arodinamic. We have had no trouble with our '98 Caravan SE. The interior resists pressure much better. |

Strength:
Room. Comfortable. Good suspension.
Weakness:
The newer the car, the more likely the problem lies with a sensor. It's hard to keep all sensors free from dust and dirt and they can cause problems with the way your car runs. Keep on top of this. We having been using Dodge Caravans for a taxi service we own and operate. We had a '93 that we drove almost into the ground, but went through 3 transmissions (now, wait!) and put over 150,000 miles on it, there was no question it should be put aside. We bought another used '93. Nice looking one, too. Unfortunately, someone in a big hurry ran a red light and wiped it out. We got a '96 after that. We've already put over 30,000 miles on it. Runs nicely (knock on wood), lots of luggage room. Little bit of advice: Parts wear out in every car. Maintain your car well, and they won't wear as quickly. We get 2 oil changes a month (more than the norm because we work the car all day, every day), tune up every 6 months and change the brake pads every 3. Learn how to check codes yourself for problems to avoid. |

headlights are very weak! Ordered this van new in 1997. Have 55,000 miles on it and have never had it in the shop. Almost Everything is as it was when purchaced. Will need new tires this year. Replaced battery and belt 2 years ago. That's it...... I hope I never see the problems everyone else has seen. So far it has been a great addition to my family of 6. The van drives better than anything I have been in before. I have owned Cheys that required constant maintance. This van is solid and worth the money so far. I change the oil every 3,000 miles and only use preimum gas. Don't believe everything people say about low and hig end gas being the same. Remember the saying, if you take care of your car, it will take care of you! |

I ADMIT ITS TRANSMISSIONS ARE SENSATIVE. I SPENT $3000.00 FOR MINE. I can't believe ALL OF YOU. CHRYSLER MADE THE MINIVAN AND NOW UR SAYING IT SUCKS AND THEN YOU BUY ANOTHER MINIVAN. I DO ADMIT THAT IT HAS SOME TRANNY PROBLEMS. IN FACT, I PAID $3000 TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT BUT YOU DON'T SEE ME COMPLAINING. NO VEHICLE IS PERFECT. OK, YOU WANNA COMPLAIN ABOUT SOMETHING THAT IS WORSE, I HAVE A ANOTHER CAR AND LAST YEAR, THE BRAKES BROKE ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS DRIVING ON THE PAVED SHOULDER FOR ORE THN 6 KMS TO GET THE CAR TO COME TO A FULL STOP. NO VEHICLE IS PERFECT. CHRYSLER IS A NICE COMPANY, IF YOU GET OTEHR CARS, IT'LL HAVE TONNES OF PROBLEMS. YOU GUYZ ARE ALSO LUCKY TO HAVE SPENT MONEY 0N THAT VEHICLE BECAUSE: 1) IT WON'T HAVE YOU ANY PROBLEMS IN THE FUTURE. 2) CHRYSLER MADE THE MINIVAN SO THE MARKET PRICE IS HIGH 3) YOU KNOW ITS A NICE SMOOTH, ROOMY VEHICLE. THE FACT IS, OTHER MINIVAN MANUFACTURES COPY CHRYSLERS DESIGN AND ALL OF THE THINGS THAT CHRYSLER MADE AT FIRST. FOR EXAMPLE, THE MINIVAN, DUAL SLIDING DOORS, ETC. PLEASE STOP COMPLAINING, CHRYSLER CARS LAST A LONG TIME. P.S. .. IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE WITH YOUR MINIVAN, JUST REMEMBER THE INEXPENSIVE PRICE YOU GOT IT FOR.
