Strength:
Love the room, comfort, design and the way it handles on the road.
Weakness:
Had many problems with the serpentine belt noises, power steering pump went out at 6,000 miles. Brakes never seemed quite strong enough as my Ford E-150 Van. Conversion problems with TV/VCP, seat belts, Paid $31,500. Sticker price was $38,900. I lov this van and what it could be, but I do think that Chevrolet has alot of kinks to work out. Was by no means as reliable as my Ford E-150. Similar Products Used: Ford E-150 |

Strength:
great running engine(5.7),spacious,great for hauling around 5k.
Weakness:
Weird shifting problem from 2nd to 3rd.Of course the dealer says it's normal(Chevrolets answer to just about any problem I have had). They have tried to re-flash the computer for shifting control. Yet problem still occurs. If it wasn't for the strange shifting problem that I sometimes feel from 2nd to 3rd, I would probably strongly recommend. However, since GM refuses to correct this transmission problem I would'nt recommend purchasing one. Similar Products Used: As far as larger vans go, Chevy has the best around. |

Strength:
Looks, it is a beautiful van. It also rides very comfortably, and keeps my boys, who have a bad case of sibling rivalry from reaching each other easily.
Weakness:
The problems above. I get the distinct impression that the dealer wants me out of there for the cheapest way they can cover up the symptoms I describe to them. Get this, once I complained that it seemed my van wasnt well assembled. The guy who checked in my van told me " sometimes guys who put vehicles together have bad days too, like the guy(s) who put your van together may have been mad at their wife at the time." Ever since I bought the van, I either have had an appt. to get a repair, or needed to make one! The driver side window motor has been replaced once, and the new one is going out now. The front brakes have been replaced. The seal for the middle, drivers side window has disintegrated, and is on order to be replaced. I hear a clunk at various times when I accelerate, brake, or turn. Chevy dealer says they tightened a few things, yeah right, I hear the same clunks. The rear interior panel came off for no good reason. The outside rearview mirrors vibrate when driving, which is fun when trying to determine distance of a car behind you. They replaced both, after trying to "tighten" them once. The word "tighten" seems popular with GM mechanics. Guess it works better than "replaced" for them, but not me. My van once burned a quart of oil, for no explainable reason, but luckily for me hasnt repeated that feat. Similar Products Used: I have had 5 chevy vans, 2 astros, 2 G20's, and 1 express. They all have had one problem after another. The only reasons I keep buying them are 1:I have kids to seperate, and need the tv/vcr to keep the little curtain-climber's busy/ distracted, and 2:Chevy supposedly has the highest resale value of any full-sized vans, which tells me there is a sorry group of manufacturers out there! |

Strength:
love it! buying any vehicle in a new model year is always a little risky, but i did it and so far so good. great ride. excellent power. changing the oil is easy. what more can i say. oh yeah, the new body styling -- love it!
Weakness:
they don't offer a 4 wheel drive version. (1999 Model) - i drove a blazer before this, and our family of 4 was cramped for space on weekend getaways. not anymore! open road -- look out, here we come... |

Strength:
Rides nice.
Weakness:
Poor construction, poor value, and can't keep replacing defective parts without going broke. I needed a large van for a family of 5 with the tv/vcr for towing and cross country. Chevy had the best driving of the lot. At 43000 the gas gauge went bad, at 48950 the transmission went up on vacation 2000 miles from home and the new one has a 3 year 50000 mile warranty! Now Chevy will not cover any of the costs on the first transmission that burnt up under normal towing (less than 2300 lbs ) but after I spent $2000 for a new transmission they will give me a 50000 mile warranty!!!! Besides Chevy's lack of any quality control the A/C compressor self destructed at 50090 miles!! I have never had such a lousy car!! I will never let Chevy off the hook for this! In the last 8 months it has cost me $3500+ to fix the Chevy and the van has had all the preventative maintanence I can throw at it. GM is guilty of fraud! Don't buy GM!!!!!!! Similar Products Used: My Toyota Previa van is still running after three kids and 130000 miles with little repair just preventitive maint. GM can't do the job, no comparison!!!!! |

Strength:
It's cushy, big enough to do the job, and smells new.
Weakness:
Build quality is horrible. Engine is weak for the weight. This vehicle was broken before it left the factory. The problems cannot be passed off on the dealer, as they are fundamental build problems. For example, the oil and transmission fluid were severely low off of the lot. There are no noticeable leaks. This vehicle was not inspected at the factory or at the dealer. Both inspections are standard procedure. Similar Products Used: Chevrolet G20 van 1990 - Has lasted 400,000 miles. What has happened in the last decade? |
