Weakness:

Has anyone experienced a crackling noise in the rear panels?

I have just purchased a 2002 Camry LE. The dealer replaced the first car they gave me because of this problem. But, the second car has the same problem.

Strength:

Good acceleration, quite and easy to drive.

Weakness:

Dull paint job and easy to dent. Getting dents above the dent guard so looks like it may have been designed too low on the door. Also having problems with starting. Takes two cranks on average. Dealer claims this is normal. Don't like automatic headlights since you can't turn them off once they are on unless you put the car in park and turn off the engine. Also get a "clunk" as you start to drive. Dealer claims this is ABS initialization and is, once again, normal.

Nice 6cyl acceleration and very quite operation. Test drove better than the equivalent Honda Accord.

Strength:

Quiet while driving.

Weakness:

Sun roof lid loosen, and a sound occurs whenever the engine starts, and car moves forward. Toyota service guy said this sound is normal originating by the engine immobilizer and something called EBD. Don't know if it is true or not.

Beautiful and quiet. Read below for + and -.

Strength:

Ride, quietness, handling, interior fit and finish, and engine, excellent reliability.

Weakness:

Absolutely none.

An excellent car. The 3.0 V6 engine is smooth, refined, and responsive. The ride is exceptionally comfortable and masks road bumps and irregularities very well. The interior noise rivals those of luxury cars. Wind and road noise are muted as well as the engine (even at high speeds). Handling is effortless and light, and the interior controls are logically place and intuitive. Overall, this the perfect car.

Model Reviewed: Toyota Camry LE 4cyl.

Strength:

Dependability and classy edges...

Weakness:

Toyota letting there name be used through some really disappointing dealerships with really shady people...

I haven't had major problems with the car except with lousy Dealership customer service. It is a Japan built car verses american built. Cars are not americas strong point. My paint on the rear bumper is now pealing due to being badly repaints. There are several things that I myself think were not looked over before passing as a Certified Toyota. Other than that I think this is a really good car mechanically. Haven't had any problems yet. It's not exactly a sports car but I would rather have reliability being in college and being strapped for money, after my car payment that is. It's now got 44,700 miles on it...

Strength:

New model styling, attractive, ergonomic interior, quiet ride, powerful drive, responsive engine. It doesn't feel like a 4 cylinder car and I'm getting great milage (33 MPG).....nice sound system.

Weakness:

I've not had any problems, as this was a dealer's demo, any breakin issues took place before I got the car and it was meticulously maintained.

I am completely thrilled with my Camry. I bought a Dealers Demo with 7000 miles on it for Toyota's invoice price.....several thousand dollars less than the brand new vehicles were selling for, and I got far more car than I would have been able to afford otherwise. I've never been a fan of Toyota....always thought they were bland....thousands of them on the road all in non-discript beige paint.....but the 2002 is a completely different story. This car feels large, dense, well-crafted. It's quiet with a soft ride like a luxury vehicle. The appointments in the XLE make it feel like a luxury car. I drive 1 1/2 hours each way to work and prior to this new Camry, my back/hips were killing me.....the commute is a different experience in this vehicle. I wanted a decent car with a good reliability rating...and my mechanic kept telling me (as he was doing the umpteenth repair on my Plymouth Neon!!!!) that I should get myself a Toyota.....that he only does maintenance...oil changes, brakes etc.....I also at 41 years of age appreciate the stability and safety rating of the car.....I could not be more pleased.

I test drove an Altima (loved the styling), two Hondas, and some American products...I like the looks of Chrysler's higher end models, but have had it with their poor reliability....drove a Neon for 7

Strength:

smooth, quiet and the V6 delivers good power.

Weakness:

Jerkiness between 40-50 mph.Been in the shop at least 4 times for repairs. See summary.

This car purchased new has certainly not held up the Camry standards. It now has about 2000 miles. It has been the shop for a ruptured power steering hose for 4 days. It developed a bad oxygen sensor, another 5 days. It has a jerkiness between 40-50 mph. They now tell me that they don't have a fix but the company is working on a program update on a computer module. It has been in the shop for the jerkiness for about 8 days total. Totally disappointed so far!

Strength:

Reliability and Reliability

Weakness:

The wearing and support of the drivers seat. Paint chips are also very easy to come by with these cars

I have had no mechanical problems with my Camry. I have had to replace a rear cupholder, drivers door handle part and soon will be having the rear bumber painted, do to paint peeling. Which is the dealerships fault, selling me a Certified car without fixing these things. I am very pleased with this car as far as handling and the frequently used term reliability. It's no sports car but it can hold its weight with the Accords and similar cars. My Camry has the 4-cyl. engine because I have heard about the 6-cyl. engine with their sludge problems. I am very happy with my car except with the paint on the rear bumper.
