Strength:

Value, Performance, cool new design

Weakness:

About all I can think of is that it would be nice with a 6 speed manual with a closer gear ratio.

Fast car, practical value. The thing I most like about the WRX was the low price and high performance you get, the whole bang for your buck thing! The car is well designed and the ride is smooth and comfortable. The sport seats really hold you in the seat and the Momo wheel is like warm butter in your hands. The sedan, which i have, has good trunk space and three three point saftey belts in the back seat. The special child saftery seat features are great for someone with children, plus the driverpass and side impact airbags speak for the saftey of the car. This car can be driven like an economy car or like a Porche, so the wife can drive the kids to school in it and you can toast the next Mustang GT that pulls up next to you!

Nissan Sentra, and Maxima. Better than both all around.(ok the leather in the Max was nice, but the seats in the WRX are better for the sporty drivers)

Strength:

Rocket ship, handling excellent and so controllable. C'mon, 0-60 in 5.7sec for $23000. That engine note. Nothing burbles like a Subaru boxer engine.

Weakness:

Turbo Lag below 3k. Well, the headlights are starting to grow on me... The US version should come with 17" wheels and 4 pot calipers standard like every other country in the world gets.

This car rocks. I had one in New Zealand where the tuning characteristics were different, and it was a little quicker there. Overall though, the WRX is one of the best handling vehicles I have driven. I like the way understeer/oversteer can be controlled with the throttle. My only complaint is that we didn't get the Jap Market model engine spec which is a lot more free revving. Although, I'm sure the STi will be here soon enough, and then we'll have the perfect car. Don't buy this car if you're going to get it in an automatic, you don't deserve it.

Strength:

All wheel drive capability
0-60 in less than 6 seconds
Firmly tuned but not harsh suspension
Briliant steering
Comfortable and gripping seats
Quiet and comfortable ride (may be a weakness for some people :))
The turbo engine can be easily modified to produce much more power with less money

Weakness:

The tires are the first to go
Some people may want a sunroof and leather options although this car is not designed to be a luxury car.

Overall, if you are really an enthusiast who wants a sport sedan which truly perform in the real world condition this is the one you must get! And at $24000 it's such a bargain..

WRX is a lot better in terms of power delivery (at such a low rpm) and a better handler in not-so-perfect condition than all of these cars..

Strength:

Safety features
Stability and handling
Flat out quick

Weakness:

No window tinting
No sunroof

This car rocks. Over 200 hp turbo in a smooth 4 cyl boxter engine. 0-60 in under 6 and 60-0 in 130 ft. It handles perfectly in all weather. AWD in my automatic includes advanced variable torque and limited slip diff. Suspension is beefy but smooth. I didn't buy it for the speed but for the handling and safety. 4 wheel discs, ABS, front and side airbags all standard. It looks kind of funky from the front but that's part of the fun. After test driving several other vehicles this was in a class by itself. For the money it is a winner.

Strength:

Throws you back against the seat at 3000+ RPM.
Corners like it's glued to the road.
Seats 4 well.
Sometimes you can forget you are driving a sports car and just drive comfortably.

Weakness:

very low-end torque weak
CD shuffle stays only on 1 disc
no visual cue for keyless entry lock/unlock

You could get more raw power for $25k if that's all you want, same with handling, off-road ability, amenities, and comfort for four. But you CANNOT find a car in this price range that combines them all so well.

This car is a marvel of engineering.

Strength:

Handling is amazing. Especially in the rain, in puddles, off road, on road, bumpy roads. The car just doesnt care!
Power is good, and theres plenty of room to add more power.
Plenty of space for passengers, and the trunk is quite large.

Weakness:

none considering the price of the car.

This is a great car.
Its goes fast, and does it anywhere, in any conditions.
It is also quite practical.

Strength:

Speed, speed, and speed. Third gear is so flexible, and with proper driving, it's almost completely lag-free. The car is wonderfully solid and beautifully put together, and the stock suspension is surprisingly good. The stock shifter feels really good, as well, though it's a bit notchy.

Weakness:

So far with 300 miles on the clock, I can't find any weaknesses, except for the stock suspension, which would be fine for most drivers that aren't used to a full coilover setup, as I am.

I got into this car from a heavily modified 1998 Legacy GT wagon, and was blown away by the speed and feel difference. The WRX is just put together more tightly, and you can really feel the more rigid body when driving the car. Obviously, there's some re-learning required with a turbo car, but when you learn the car's power band, there are few things on the road as fast, even staying under 4,000 rpm during the break-in period.

The feeling when the turbo comes on hard is a very special one and yet, the power band is nice and linear. You dial up speed so quickly, and the car is so quiet, that you will be surprised at how fast you're going, and how comfortably you can cruise at that speed.

Subaru did a great job of giving this car all that the enthusiast needs, including a platform that can be easily upgraded. Yet, the non-enthusiast can drive this car in its stock configuration, happily ever after.

I also think that the wagon looks fanTAStic.

Strength:

The new look. 4door sleeper. Handling. Performance. Aww heck, everything!

Weakness:

Uummm, it's not an STI? (does this qualify?)

I love my ReX!!! Can't say enuff about it. It has been one of the cars of my dreams, and we finally get it here in the States. It has great potential and also a great daily driver. Some people don't like the "new" design of the WRX, but hey, who cares? Don't buy it. Let someone worthy of driving it buy it. I love the new design, it's different, nothing you will see on the streets for sure, and it turns heads where ever it goes. For less than $25,000 and a car built solely on performance, its top notch. You want cup-holders, buy a MiniVan, you want luxury, buy a $50,000 paper weight. But if you want a car that outperforms anything in its class, this is the CAR! Other car manufacturers slap on a wing, rims, and some racing decals and say "performance." This car is built from the ground up, and it shows.

Strength:

Performance, Value, AWD, Functional & Tasteful Interior, T-U-R-B-O, Rally-heritage, extremely stiff chassis (can drive over bumps better than ML430), sleeper effect, uniqueness, "Sooby-ness", ability to do everything well.

Weakness:

Poor mileage when driving aggressively, worried about traffic police due to all the advertising.

Excellent!!! I love my wagon! I still have my 1999 Mercedes ML430, but I was looking for something to do more regular driving in. I wanted the same things I looked for in my ML: performance, handling, versatility, cargo, AWD/4WD, and lots more...except for status. It was a tough bill to fill, but the WRX did it with flying colors! I drive it almost daily and love it more each day.

Weakness:

Transmission? Not too many aftermarket parts yet. STi parts are expensive

This is one hell of a car. I test drove everything that remotely could be compared to the WRX and went for the Suby. The Audi A4 1.8TQMS was a close second, but I ordered my Aspen White 5 speed WRX on Feb. 19th and it rolled it April 21st. I have had nothing but a smile when driving it. Lots of looks and lots of fun.
