Strength:
The high seats give great viewing area. The MPG highway are as promised, the city drops down to 14 MPG range in Phila. The back seat is entirely comfortable, like a car. The radio (standard radio) has really cool features I've never seen before! The orange/red dials really look strange at first, but they are very easy to read: very logically laid out. Oh, yeah, the moon roof when its open, combined with great visibility, helps me to feel on top of the world in the morning.
Weakness:
Adequate acceleration. A little noisy on some roads. Rear hatch something of a struggle to close. It has the small "donut" for a spare tire. I've been driving a luxury station wagon and a Ford Explorer. The Aztec is a wonderful cross between them: the ride of an automobile (although a bit noisy) with the capacity of more than the Explorer. The Aztec is very comfortable, both front and back seating (not like the seats on my Explorer). I've asked my neighbors if they think the Aztec is ugly: they look at me like I'm crazy. They like the look! (I swear it! And I don't live in the "school for the blind"!) I looked at the prices of the SUV's at $28K,and the capacity of each vehicle. Then I looked at MPG. Aztec was my only choice in its price range with good cargo capacity and high MPG. Oh, yeah, minivan styling and suv styles are so-o-o-o 20th Century (yawn!) Similar Products Used: Ford Explorer 2 wh drive. The Aztec has it all over the Explorer. |

Strength:
Great ride Great interior Great features Great vehicle, period
Weakness:
Looks that only a mother could love. I have to agree with the prior post. If you haven't driven the vehicle, then don't post on it you morons. You are lowering the rating of the vehicle based on your opinion of its looks alone. People reading these reviews are looking for valid opinions to help them decide where to spend their hard earned money. For those people, please drive this vehicle. The looks are, how can I put this politely? Unique. However, I find it refreshing not to be driving the same cookie-cutter designs everybody else seems to be. But the ride is fantastic. It handles like a car, had adequate power to haul a heavy load, and tons of room. Not to mention all the comforts I could ask for, like a power sunroof, 10 speaker stereo, and dual climate control. I've got more cargo room than a Durango, more towing capacity than an Explorer, for thousands less. And I got 0% financing for 60 months! All I can say to the people that can't get past its looks, Have you ever eaten lobster? Pretty ugly, isn't it! (Oxymoron intended Similar Products Used: Sorry, Nothing is similar! |

Strength:
comfort reliability "goodies"
Weakness:
back end design not my favorite...not enough padding on armrests... Okay so the car LOOKS a little odd until you get used to it---but this car is FANTASTIC! Roomy-comfortable-reliable (not one problem in 16 months)- many amenities that would cost a bundle on another car - love the "heads up display" showing speed, radio station or track # on the bottom of the windshield...also love the cargo area with lift up bins for groceries etc. - and the slide out tray makes loading things into the cargo area so easy. Great sound system. Good visibility. |

Go for the optional 10 speaker Pioneer system. This radio sounds better than any in my house. Very quiet ride, no rattles, roomy interior, unique exterior
Weakness:
You may have trouble with the dealer and the camping package. My dealer told me the mattress was no longer available and when I inquired at the gmparts online website they gave me an order number that was no longer valid. Finally on my third try to another GM dealership they were able to find the camping package. It is available with mattress, the ordering number is just different than what it used to be. I must admit that I'm one of the few that liked this vehicle when it was first introduced. After test driving it twice and admiring them everytime I passed one I finally bought a yellow one and I'm loving it. I traded in a 2000 Blazer that I liked when I first got it but quickly outgrew. The larger size of the Aztec is great when you have a car full and the ride and quietness is better than any other vehicle I have owned. Similar Products Used: 2000 Chevrolet Blazer |

Strength:
Different, Functionality, Comfort, Upright seating position.
Weakness:
Rear live axle, Mushy Mushy Brakes Well it just goes to show that everyone has a different opinion about everything. The first thing you must understand about the Aztec is that it has no intensions of being a minivan or an SUV. Thats why GM called it an SRV. Everyone wants to throw it into some sort of general category but you can't do that. Sort of the same way that you can not categorize the PT cruiser. What you must understand is that the engineers at Pontiac did what German and Japanese manufacturers have been doing for many years. They put function before form. This means they made sure something worked before it looked good. The center console cooler also serves as a CD case holder and a small storage tray. The rear of the vehicle has extra controls for the radio while tail-gating. The area behind the front seats can be converted to a sleeping area with the inflatable mattress and tent. How many other vehicles have these features. Jeep seems to be taking a page out of Pontiac's book by offer a tent option with the liberty. Chrysler is also touting the center console cooler in it's Grand Caravan. Yes the head lights look a little funny but they provide great visibility at night. Espesially when used in conjunction with the fog lights. As for fuel economy I get 22.8 MPG I consider that pretty good for a vehicle of this size. I have a friend with a two door Chevy Blazer with the 4.3 liter V-6. He gets 16 MPG. Oh yeah size. Anybody ever notice the short wheel base this vehicle has? This allows for a very tight turning radius. Yes the slope of the rear glass hatch is funny looking but raising the hatch and lowering the gate creates a very large opening to load cargo. Very helpful when packing up for college. The turn signals on top of the fenders are nice from a safety standpoint because they really catch people's eye. I actually had two people tell me that they liked the plastic around the bottom because it seemed like less to worry about. I agree because long gone are the day of wiping off fresh road tar off my old white Buick. The tar simply doesn't want to stick to the plastic. This is also the first area a vehicle will rust in a northern climate because of road salt. Good old plastic. Well I could go on all day. Simply put I like my Aztec. I would have prefferd a sports car but you must take what your dad buys you for your 21 B-day. Atleast it's not another Camry or Accord. Similar Products Used: There are none. |

Pontiac Aztec
Strength:
Good acceleration, rides well on GOOD roads.
Weakness:
No traction in the snow. Gets stuck in 3 inches of snow. Slides off road in to ditch at will. DISGUSTING!! Horribly dissatisfied!! The traction in the winter months is NIL!! The number of blind spots are too numerous to count. The gas mileage is terrible. The rear hatch has a mind of it''s own-sometimes works, sometimes not. Our children really enjoyed using the two headphones in the back seat that allowed them to listen to their CD''s and tapes, while my wife and I enjoyed listening to the radio in the front seat without any conflict of music preferences. This vehicle is very luxurious to be in it''s price range. Other strengths are the Leather interior, dual front a/c controls, heads-up display on the windshield, the cooler console, and lots of bells and whistles so to speak!
Weakness:
I feel that it''s only weakness is the fact that non-Aztek owners cannot really appreciate the sleek and futuristic styling of this vehicle. What sold us on this vehicle was the fact that it was not just another "cookie-cutter" car that looked just like everyone elses on the block. Once you have driven it, I really think you will appreciate it''s uniqueness. My family drove our new Aztek on a 1500 Mile Vacation to the Beach the first week we had it and have nothing but wonderful comments on this futuristic looking vehicle. We purchased the GT Model which is really loaded with everything possible. We utilized every gizmo and gadget available while on our trip. The seating was really comfortable for such a long trip. Our children really think our new Aztek is a really cool car and fun to ride in with the windows down and radio turned up. The best part was driving onto the beach, opening the tailgate, and having seating, storage, cooler, music and many other conveniences right at our fingertips just feet from the ocean. Overall, I would definitely recommend this vehicle to active families with any age children! Similar Products Used: We test drove the Honda CRV, Toyota RAV4, and considered several other SUV''s in this price range and felt that the Aztek was the best buy for the price. |

A bit under powered. Buggy computer. (I am on my third CPU) Great car. Plenty of room for the three of us. I get plenty of questions whenever I am parked or at a light. I like it because it is NOT an Explorer or a Camary. Similar Products Used: Chevy Blazer, Chevy Tracker. |

Strength:
Traction, ABS system, interior design and roominess, versatility in driving conditions, good gas mileage (24-26 hwy, 22-24 city in mine).
Weakness:
Factory rack didn''t work well with Yakima attachments. Lack of rear window wiper. Roomy functional SUV with the ride of a luxury car. Great cornering/turning, manueverability. Excellent traction. I''ve driven this across the US from northeast to west and it''s weathered every storm. Handles well in snow and ice, rain, sleet, everything. Handled tough driving conditions like elevation changes, switchbacks, city traffic, and hot weather. Very maintainance free at this point. Once people ride in it, they''re sold, although some think it''s ugly at first. I''d rather drive something unique and risk a few wierd looks! Similar Products Used: Test drove Chevy Tracker, Honda CRV, GMC Envoy, Ford Escape. NOTHING compares to the ride and features of the Aztec for the price. |

None I''m 19 years old and I drive a green Aztec. I love my car so much. It rides great, and I love all the neat stuff it comes with. At first I liked how every one looked and asked questions but after awhile it got really annoying. I also hate the way everyone tells me how ugly it is and ask why I got it. I got it because it''s different and it''s not one of the many other cars on the road that EVERYONE ELSE is driving. Similar Products Used: None |
