Strength:

trunk space, styling. mileage excellent

Weakness:

front end clunkiness, poor brakes, needs tighter suspension on turns

styling gets lots of favorable comments. Like others, I get a front
end clunky noise which the dealer doesn't hear. At 43000 miles -
I have a repeat of warped rotors on my autobahn package - rotors were
turned down once already. Excellent mileage - fit and finish were very
good for a first year GM product. Experiencing strut failure and
inconsistent exterior temperature readings causing air conditioner
to not operate properly. Becoming concerned about long term reliability
of this car- but due to product cancellation - I will tazke a bath
if I trade it or sell it

Strength:

Power and roominess

Weakness:

Brakes. I've had the rotors resurfaced twice and the front ones replaced withing the first 25k miles and had to replace both front and rear rotors with 40K miles! If other GM cars have the same problem, I'll have to return to "foreign" cars. This is the first "American" car I've purchased since 1979 - all the rest were Hondas.

Has a lot more power from a start as well as on the highway as compared to my Honda Accord. Fit and finish are good and sound system is very good. Roomy interior and trunk space. Air Conditioning is excellent. Shopped for Ford Taurus and Grand Prix before settling on the Intrigue. My wife and I felt more comfortable (seats, visibilty) with the Intrigue than the others. Even though I've made apparently glowing comments about the car, I dropped the rating because of the number problems with the brakes.

Strength:

Handling, style, interior layout, seats, power, engine.

Weakness:

I have had the Intermediate shaft replaced twice (bad design) on this year.
I am now experiencing some sort of problem that seems to originate with the brakes...it may be that the rotors need resurfacing as the car has over 60,000 miles and the rotors have never been touched.

Great car and a joy to drive. Handles well and is quiet except for some engine and road noise. Very comfortable interior!! Very roomy with well thought out controls and overall interior styling. I have had some problems but no car is without problems. I have many friend with BMW's to Nissan's and they all have problems. Period!

Compares favorably with the Honda Accord and Nissan Maxima.
Why spend the extra $$$ for the Maxima or Accord?

Strength:

3.5 is a flat out warrior on the highway, 520 miles on the first tank of gas 26/29, seamless shifting, Bose audio is nice, comfortable heated front seats, trunk size, smooth but firm ride.

Weakness:

Rear seat passengers could be a little cramped, not as strong off the line as you would think, radio sounds bad compared to CD listening

I needed a comfortable sedan with some class and refinement. Also needed a strong car that will go 200,000 miles in four years. This car has it all at a fare price. It has a clean look to it inside and out. As much respect as I give to the forign cars I had to buy domestic. Oldsmobile has many incentives to consider right now.

Similar Products Used:

Much nicer interior than Grand Prix and Regal, more refined than Intrepid, more class than Camry and Accord.

Strength:

The 3800 V-6 is fantastic, 0-60 in well under 8 seconds! Handling is better than all the other midsize family sedans in the price range. Best ergonomics of any domestic car on the market. BANG-FOR-THE-BUCK!!!!!!!!!!! 100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty (pay now or pay later...). Flawless transmission!

Weakness:

New rotors at 47,000?????? Larger disc brakes and where's the spuercharger option for the 3800?

The Intrigue offers a nice balance of handling, power (can that 3800 be making "only" 195 hp and 220 ft/lb?), efficiency (over the mountains of West VA at 80 mph averaging 33 mpg), space, features (4-wheel disc, ABS, decent stereo, cruise, power everything), reliability, and looks. This is a great car for guys like myself who, after graduating from college, don't have a ton of money to throw around and want a car that will look good, perform better than the imports, and not cost an arm and a leg in insurance premiums.
Look for "program cars"!! I got mine with 25K miles, fully serviced and paid 9K less than if I bought it new!

Similar Products Used:

Beats the imports for price, crushes the domestics for performance. Again, bang-for-the-buck! Shame on you, GM, for phasing out this fantastic automobile!

Strength:

looks(but they are not what they appear to be)

Weakness:

poor craftmans ship
a coustomer service departmen that has just given up since olds will no longer be around
not dependable

This car is the worst vehilcle I have ever owned. I have been to the dealership with 20 problems. From the first month I owned the car the drivers side door molding was a prolem causind the door to be very hard to open. The dealership tried to repair this problem about 5 times. The drivers side windshild wiper would not spray fluid properly the dealership tried to repair this 7-8 times. The rear passenger side power window broke twice the, same window. The heatd leather seat would not turn on. The air conditioning motor had to be replace. GM would not stand behind thier vehicle. Customer service kept the typical transfers of calls and promisses of call backs which were never made. I was treated very rude and even hung up on by thier customer service deparment. Looks like olds has already given up. Please save your self a whole lot of time and do not buy any oldsmobile or GM product they will not stand behind thier cars. All of this in 10 months
