Being 24, this isn't the stylish car i'd prefer. No Weaknesses. I bought this car from my Great-Uncle in 2000 for $6000. He cut me this fantastic deal because I was going through college, and needed a new car badly. This car has been the MOST reliable car i've ever owned. I've owned over 7 cars since 94, including a brand new Dakota/Grand Cherokee. I almost purchased a new car last week, but could not part with my Olds. They couldn't offer me nearly the value that this car holds. It has 130K miles, and still runs like a champion. I decided to pass on the new car and invest $1200 in brakes, tires, suspension, and other minor fixes. It's brand new again. Since 2000, i have only had to replace the transmission and alternator. That's it. The gas mileage is incredible with this car. The powerful 3800 Series II is there when you need it. I would suggest this car to anyone looking for a reliable, powerful, smooth riding, vehicle. Similar Products Used: None |

Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight
Strength:
Very smooth running engine Will get out and move! (easily) Comfy, spacious seating
Weakness:
Gas mileage is atrocious! (I've been getting around 18mpg recently) the '89 model is extremely boxy and grannyish looking (not sporty or cool at all) ABS brakes work quite well (have helped me out on more than one occasion for sure!) On my particular vehicle the windows take forever to run up or down and the screeching noise is unbearable! The manual door locks are very hard to get up and down, and on occasion I can't even get the back doors to open! My Oldsmobile is overall a very good running car. This thing can get out and move like nobody's business. This car gives you the comfort of knowing you can get out and pass anyone. It offers a lot of leg and head room. I've had it for over two years and have only had to get the brake pads replaced once and the water pump replaced once. Other than that...nothing. Very reliable car. Would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great handling car, but is not worried about a "cool" looking car. |

Strength:
Reliability, size, power, used car cost.
Weakness:
Yes it's looking outdated, and the power windows are sloooow. FOr a about three hundred a year in minor repairs I've been driving the car for 60,000 miles, 3-1/2 years, since March 1999. For it's size the 6 cyl engine is surprisingly powerful, and the fuel economy is better than you'll find on new cars of it's size. Similar Products Used: none, people I know have little cars |

Eighty Eight LS
Strength:
3.8 liter V6 is very dependable. Have the same engine in our 1990 Trofeo which has had no engine repairs.
Weakness:
Uncharacteristic repairs for such a new car, such as lower stabilizer arm bushings and driver''s side electric window. Ash tray in front doesn''t fit right and slides open constantly while accelerating. Also don''t care for the notched volume control on the cassette/radio. Big difference in volume between notches making sound either too loud or too soft. The strongest feature of this car is the 3.8 liter V-6. It''s a very roomy car. The trunk is particularly deceiving as it is much larger than it seems from the outside. Gas mileage is good for this size 20-22 mpg for combined suburban and expressway rush hour traffic. A great value except for some unexpected repairs in the last few months that are not typical of a 3 year old car. See below Glad I only paid $12,500 for the car a year and a half ago. Strength:
Fast, comfortable, cheap to buy and to run, no major problems.
Weakness:
Minor nuisance problems do not affect ride or reliablility. Had it for just over 2 months. Bought it as a throwaway car. Owned previously by old couple, serviced in the same garage since new. Very soft ride, very fast, very comfortable, v.large trunk and rear seats room. I find it very relaxing to ride even on 1000+ miles trip. Very quick in passing, in merging into highway traffic and in overtaking others. Gas costs about $20 per week, no leaks or any major problems. Only negatives noticed so far, power antenna does not retract, "fasten seatbelts" red light stays lit, taped it with black electricians tape, too expensive to fix either one of these faults. Also at above 70mph white warning light "service engine soon" lights up. Had transmission solenoid replace, did not help, same problem persists. Since I know what the problem is now, I don''t bother to repair it. This problem does not affect ride or reliablility. Paint fairly dull. Excellent buy for reliable transportation. breakes can be better I''m 19 years old. My dad bought this car in april of 1997. At fist i didnt really like the car because i wanted something fast and powerfull. Back then i didnt have drivers licience and i could not drive, but after getting muy licience and driving it for a week i fell in love with it. The biggest thing i loved about that car was beating my friends off a green light, I loved the look an their faces. My friends were saying "if you ever give up this car; give me the rear seats. They are more confy then my couch". In 2002 the 89 old delta 88 had to go to junk yard because it could not be fixed. If im alive now it is because of that car. It had 210 000km on it,and it was running like a beast.. Im patiently looking for another one Similar Products Used: buick park avenue:Olds beats it chr intrepid:smoked it |
