handling on snow deathrow!

This is the worst car on snow I have ever owned! I am 50 years old, so I did have some cars on the road! I hope it is just the tires, but I doubt it! I would like to know if other Galant owners having the same problem?

Strength:

Pepppy four cylinder engine reliable great gas mileage looks good (like a BMW)

Weakness:

no head room for tall people (I'm 6.1ft.) No book value due to Mitsubishi company uncertainty (don't buy Mitsubishi if you plan on trading/selling in 2-3 years.)

My wife picked this car out while I was at work one day. Against my better judgement, we bought it the next day. I knew Mitsubishi was struggling as a company and we could have purchased a Nissan or Toyota for the same amount of money and slept at night knowing they weren't going bankrupt the next day. To my surprise, this car has been very reliable. I've come home and seen bushes/branches stuck underneath the front of it, and I know it's put to the test everyday. My wife hops in it without any warm-up and floors it off to work without mercy. The car has 40K and I do get it serviced regularly as a band aid to the torture its routinely put through. The car is pretty tough. 40K miles is still pretty young for a Japanese car (made in illinois), but I have a feeling this car is going to last. Also, when gas prices went through the roof, this car was a breath of fresh air.

I have had this car for a short time but I can tell you that I am very pleased. It is alot larger than my previous 2002 galant.I got the top of the line Galant and it came hard loaded. It rides really smooth and it's feels more stable than my previous automobile.I think Mitsubishi's are well built cars and I have had no major problems thus far.If you purchase a Galant, I recommend you get the GTS. It comes with leather, heated and power seats, projector headlights and fog lights, infinity 6 disc sound sys.,digital climate control, manumatic, and much more.

Extremely reliable, good in the snow, nice looking, roomy, great price.

Weakness:

None!

I've been driving my Galant for 4 1/2 years and am very surprised at some of the reviews I'm reading. I've had no problems with it whatsoever! Bought it used with 17K miles and have since put on an additional 45K. Have only had to replace the tires once and brakes twice. One recall several years back related to steering, but no other repairs required. This car has been very dependable. I use it often to pick up my husband when his VW Jetta breaks down about once a month. It's roomy enough for two car/booster seats in the rear and the kids legs aren't squished. Roomy trunk as well. Compared to a used Honda or Nissan, I think my Galant was a great car for the price. I plan to keep it until it can't be driven any longer!

The entire car and dealer ships/service managers as well.

Good luck to all who have bought a gallant you are in for a long road ahead of you. I was very happy when i bought the car. I still love it it was my first. So where do i start. First you brakes will start to sqeak dont worry they wont fix them they will say their fine after you have visted them for the same problem 3 times. Next water will begin to poor in the front passerger side of the car when you put the air conditioner on go to the dealer if you want lets just say mine still leaks. Ok moving on your doors will begin to lock and unlock them selves once agin go to dealer i dont car how many times you go the car wont do it in front of them therefor they can't fix it. Gets better you engine light come on next and car vibrates really hard when you start it oh and it barley takes off when you put it into drive. Lets just dont go to the dealer you would not believe how many times that car went back for the same thing. Lets just say 10 times no lie they said they fixed it every time just as soon as i drove off engine light back on. Oh yea they dont provide rental cars either so be prepared to pay even more money on a rental car. Lets just say 3 months since the last problem my car reaks of gasoline real bad lets just say it is leaking inside the engine somewhere. Other problems have occured just cant remember there are so many that is bad when your car is service lik normal. Let just say it is going to smell like gas tommorow i am going to trade it ha ha ha ha ha ha. Not only that when you buy a mitisubishi double check you paper work before you leave figures and wording somehow change from the time you walk out of the dealership to the time you check that contrack again dont buy mitsubishi. please.

Strength:

Quiet, smooth ride. Nice kick for small 4 cylinder. Stylish look. Big bang for your buck

Weakness:

The Damn driver side window broke, came off track.

I've had my 2000 Galant for about 7 months now. I have to say, moving up from a 93 eclipse, I'm very pleased. Although, the one complaint I have about this car is the driver side window has come off track and am taking it to the dealership to see how much they are going to rape me in fixing it. Yes, some aspects of the car seem cheaply made, i.e.: the glove compartment and center console. But hey, I'll settle for a cheaply piece of plastic for the stylish look, comfortable/quiet ride, and seemingly well built tranny. I realize Galants don't have a high resale value, i mean, i got a 2000 in 2004 for 8,000 w/ 53k miles on it. Put it this way, you get a lot of bang for your buck when buying a used, but well taken care of Galant.

Model Reviewed: Galant

Strength:

Nice exterior, although the hubcaps looked cheap. Big surprise, huh?

Weakness:

CHEAP! Rides terrible, no pep whatsoever, the interior leaves much to be desired.

I am writing this review because I care about people. I would hate to see anyone waste their money on a Galant. I drove a 2004 Galant w/ the 2.4 liter engine as a rental car for a week. I was anticipating driving a foreign car. However, the more I drove it, the more I wanted my 99 Taurus back! First of all, the interior is extremely cheap looking. I can just imagine the handles and locks malfunctioning in two years. The controls are also cheap and not situated for the driver's easy access. I couldn't even turn the radio station without having to reach halfway across the car. Secondly, it is a very rough riding vehicle. You can feel every crack and pothole in the road with this car. I was expecting a much smoother ride from a car that is only a year old. Also, the Galant has the power of a lawnmower. As I was passing a car, I honestly had the pedal to the floor and the needle would not go past 80mph. A true misconeption, as the Galant's speedometer indicates it can travel at 140mph. I doubt it! In summary, I would highly discourage anyone from buying this car. If you're thinking about getting one, do yourself a favor and DON'T DO IT! Your money would be better spent on something else.

Strength:

Smooth ride, comfortable

Weakness:

Awful gas milage, electrical problems, factory fitted tires wear out quickly, heater core goes bad in almost all diamante's.

I didn't see a diamante board here so I'm posting in the Gallant msg board. I bought my Diamante 2001 brand spankin new. Right after 3 years the car started giving me problems. Twice it has died. Simply just dies. Once on the Interstate. Took it to the dealer. I swear dealers and car mechanics are one level below p#$ps and hookers. They kept the car for about 3 or 4 days and said it was an electical problem. The car died again. This time they are saying it is the fuel pump. They have kept the car for over a week. I am having to dish out for the car rental. For the monthly payments I am making for the car I swear it would be better if I just get a horse.

Strength:

- Good pickup speed - Supportive seats - Original Paint - Holds up well at 176000 miles - Strong handling around corners

Weakness:

- Brake pads wear out fast - Tranny downshifts hard 30-35mph downhill - Ugly interior/Stains easily - Weak sound-system - Burns oil if you keep flooring it - Recall on control arms/lower balljoints - Altnator is $139 - Passenger door lock/window sticks - Weak power to support major sound-system - Hard to find aftermarket modification parts (bodykits, etc.)

I'm only 17 and love my galant! The interior kinda sucks but I'm having it replaced for $500. My Galant has 176000 miles on it and no problems with the engine or body. I would highly recommend a galant to another teenager like me. I have upgraded my lighting system, added 2 MTX subwoofers and 800watt MTX amp, Webasto spoiler sunroof, shaved all the emblems, and Ronal 15" Mesh wheels and BF Goodrich tires. I've raced a Honda prelude and a Twin turbo civic and beat both of them.
