Strength:

Sunroof, acceleration

Weakness:

reliability, gas mileage (like 20 mpg)

Well, many people call this the Mercury Mistake, and I can't really object with them... The Mystique has had many recalls (nonr which they say apply to me) but my car hasnt had such bad reliability, yet. The brakes were warped or something, but i had to get new rotors and brake pads within one year... the trunk has that water leak.. everyone else has mentioned that too, and the "aftermarket" sunroof that the dealer arranged for installation was wired wrong, and for some reason just recently messed up the car (headlights wouldn't turn off, radio would turn on by itself) and 250 bucks later the sunroof was unplugged and i now have to bring it back to the dealer/ sunroof company... anyways, the car is pretty quick, but not great gas mileage as you would expect... i haven't had as many problems as the other people who have posted.

Strength:

Car handles well, nice comfortable seats, and love the smoothness.

Weakness:

Everything except the mileage.

I think that this car handles well, but it is the worst car ever. I had a couple of problems and they cost me an arm and a leg. I believe that the mercury mystique is the worst car money can buy.

European styling, lotsa power.

Weakness:

Very unpopular car. To many people Mercury=Old people's car (No Offense to anyone)

Bought my Mystique a month ago at an auction for under 5 Grand. Love it! The only flaw up to now is the sunroof, something wrong with the motor, but will get it fixed soon. Other than that I love it. It's a V6 and has a lot of power, at least that's what I feel since my previous car was a 2.0L 4 in line '93 cavalier which lost half the hp with the air on. Anyway, other than the sunroof everything is excellent with this car. The only bad thing is that is not too popular with teens so there are not many aftermarket parts for it other than HID lights, Winshield washer lights, but it is really hard to find body parts.

Strength:

excellent handling smooth power with the V-6 slick manual transmission very comfortable front seats excellent highway fuel economy

Weakness:

poor resale value hand brake

I have had this car for almost seven years and 71,000 miles with very few problems. It handles superbly and its reliability has been excellent. I have maintained the car with care and this may be the cause of the good experience. In my view, this is a great value, a high-quality European car at a reasonable price.

I have had my car car for 3 years now and I cannot count all the problems I have had with it, and they were not cheap problems either. I love this car except of it did not have so many problems. I tried to trade it it but the car is not worth what is owed on it. My sugestion is do not buy a mercury mystique.

Strength:

The seats are comfortable. The size of the car will save you in a head on crash.

Weakness:

I think you already know.

The Mercury Mistake could very well be the worst car every built. The 4 banger automatic has zero power, climbing to 55 mph in about 4 days. Way too may recalls. Handling is very poor. Trunk leaks when it rains. Electrical is suspect as front passenger door won't open. Cup holders are pathetic. No room in backseat for a passengers to feel comfortable. Based on my research and this was the first car I bought, stay away from Chrysler Ford and GM cars as they have no vested interest in delivering a quality product. The reason is that they make cars at a loss in profit in order to bring their emissions average under compliance in order to sell SUV's at a profit!!!!!!!!!

Weakness:

Loss of power a big Money taker, when you buy this car be sure to add to your monthly payment 100-200 dollars you will be spending that on repairs in a few months.

Great car at first got it with 16,000 miles on it a week later took it to the ford house , mysterious ringing from the a/c they had to completely redo that, about 1 month later had to take it back to replace the dash the trim was popping up, about 1 month later took it in to get door trim replaced it was tearing, We have had this car for 2 years, fixing to spend alot of money trying to get this car *back* to the way it was it has a sudden loss of power, the gas gage quit working, tries to cut out, one of the lights blink off and on every now and then, we are replacing the fuel pumping hoping it solves the power problem. and gets the gas gage to work again, new tires hoping to solve the roughness. I really do like this car Love would be alittle far fetched we tried to trade it in but Well we all know how that one goes, Ford makes it and doesnt want it back for anymore than 4,000 dollars which doesnt even cover what we still owe on it so it looks like were stuck , so now were trying to make a bad situation good and just Keep replacing parts until this car runs as good as it did at 16,000 miles it now only has 46,000 miles but runs like it has 100+K.

Strength:

Engine performance, reliability, comfort, size, fun to drive

Weakness:

none

I haven't had a single problem with this car since I purchased it new in 1999. It handles wonderfully, has plenty of pep, and is extremely comfortable. I love the way this car handles. I was thinking of trading it for a Ford Focus, but after driving the Focus, I decided to keep what I have. It's a 6 cylinder and has plenty of power with its smooth Duratec engine. The Focus cannot compare to this car when it comes to performance and reliability.
