Good Power 170 Hp stock Sporty Look
Weakness:
Skweaky Brakes Not Enough Cup Holders or power outlets Not Enought storage area I enjoy my cougar although like others have stated the brakes skweak sometimes when i am in reverse. This is more of an anoyance more then anything else. I would think another cup holder would be good but over all its a very good car i love it and the only reason i complain about the cup holder is because there isnt really too much else to complain about. Good stereo. Love the look. Haven't had any problems under the hood, although I'm told I will w/ brakes and stawling.
Weakness:
Sunroof slipped of track for no reason. When I got my car I loved everything about it. I knew 3 people with the same car. They told me my sunroof would come off track and is expensive to fix. Well they were right. After this happened I found 2 other people it has happened to. Similar Products Used: My mom and dad and brothers drive fords and don't have much problems. |

Very sporty look. Good factory stero system. Great air conditioner
Weakness:
Not very much rear room. Not very good gas mileage. Gas Gauge I got my cougar last month for my 16th birthday.. and i have only had one problem with the car. The gas gauge does not work properly when it gets down to about a half tank it starts stalling. I love the look and the sporty feel of the car. I have the sunroof and its great. The front seats are pretty comfortable im about 6" and it fits me perfectly. I dont understand why people have such a problem with the cup holders alot of cars are like that and if you dont want your drink to spill on you dont have it in the car. If anybody has had the same problems please e-mail me. Similar Products Used: none |

Nice head turner, and its fairly quick.
Weakness:
Paint chips, and had to get new brake pads and roters already. Its only 2 yrs old! Got ripped off from the start. Very disappointed in buying it. I've had it exactly two years and the paint on the bottom of it was peeling off!!! I baby the car too, in the winter its washed once a week to get the salt off it, and its kept in my garage. In my opinion, I'll never buy a ford anything again! Similar Products Used: Ford escort, plymouth sundance. They didn't give me much problem. Loved the escort. |

Strength:
Very sharp looking car, attracts many stares (and cops). Nice pick-up, handles curves with ease and even snow.
Weakness:
The front cup holder, I will never get the stains out my passenger seat. The back seat is very cramped. The entire manufacturing of the vehicle. Ford knows how to make it look nice, but Ford still has to learn how to make it run, too. I, unfortunately, am yet another very disappointed Cougar owner. I bought the fully loaded car used with 3 months left on the warranty, which of course during that period the car ran great. One week after the warranty expired I had to replace the brakes and the rear wheel bearing. That was one year ago. Since then I have had to replace oxygen sensors, the front wheel bearings, another set of brakes, tires, a power window mechanism, and numerous recalls. And there is still another list of things that need to be fixed, for example the sunroof and the trunk hatch button. I had a Sony cd player installed, but for some reason when it is warm out the radio won't work at all. I have to prioritize when and what I get fixed based on if my kitty needs it just to drive back and forth to work. Today, my check engine light decided to grace my presence yet again. I just baby this car, but pampering just isn't enough. Never again will I buy a Ford car. Similar Products Used: 1997 Cavalier Z-24 (rest in pieces!!!) |

Excellent gas mileage.
Weakness:
Not reliable. Parts always give out. Sounds like a lot of people have had the same problems as me. I had a number of items fall off this car within the first few months. The car has been known to just stop running on my while driving it. It's always as I'm coming to a stop. The car also jerks a lot while switching gears. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does I have no power to accelerate my speed. I have to push the clutch in to keep it from dying. It's in the shop for the second time (first time was covered by warranty). The fuel pump has now gone out on it over $700 to fix) and it only has 50,000 miles on it. My windows also leak due to the rubber going around the door falling off. Never again will I purchase a Ford. |

Strength:
good appearance, good gas milage
Weakness:
all the above mentioned including a very poor warranty (not long enough for all the problems) I am very disappointed with my Cougar. It has been a problem from the beginning. It has 42,000 miles on it and I feel lucky it has gotten there. I am getting ready to put brakes on it for the 3rd time. I have replaced the tires. The alternator went out approx. 1 month after the warranty expired, leaving me stranded on a busy street in the turn lane for which I was cursed out for "blocking traffic", the transmission whines terribly on cold days...haha, I live in Florida, the starter had to be replaced, and somedays I feel like I am getting whiplash when it shifts. The Ford Company has never been any help and the dealership must be their kin. The vent at the bottom of the windshield pops out, my cd player only plays occasionally, the remote will only work on the trunk hatch after several attempts....more problems but giving me a headache to think about it....I don't believe I would buy another unless the warranty and servive improved drastically, and then I would still have to think about it a while before I did.
