Body Engine Design

Weakness:

Low Horse Power Road Noise hard to find parts Engine knocks with a/c on

I've driven serveral types of cars since getting my license. I have to say my mazda is a dream. For the price the car doesn't look like a generic honda, but more like an audi. The engine, with regular maintenance, handles very well. Especially not overheating in the hot texas summers. THe kenwood speakers perform excellently with a different head unit in it and most electronic devices run fine. Drawbacks? Road noise way to loud, with a/c on car pings and knocks on a quick start, and it slips a little when shifting sometimes. Otherwise I love my Mazda.

Strength:

Engine Maintenance free zippy in traffic Body damage / parts very inexpensive to fix (car accidents)

Weakness:

Design - overall appearance (not a cute car) stereo small leak in trunk

I have owned this car for 4 years and have put on 90,000 miles! I have NOT kept up with the maintenance as I should have. And this car has been unbelievable. Knock on wood. I am now changing the timing belt and getting a full tune-up, etc. I have not had any mysterious sounds or problems. I went from a neon to this car a few years ago and the Mazda is like a dream. Oil changes are approximately every 15,000-20K miles. VERY BAD on my part! She sounds a heck of a lot better than my best friends 99 Ford Escort (40K on it). I will say though, the trunk does leak a bit. And the stereo is a piece of crap. But the important thing -the engine is fantastic. I am VERY rough on vehicles, so this car was recommended to me.

1 week after i bought this car the front CV Boot was broken and i had to relace it. After 6 months muffler was broken and i replaced it. Car back seat started leaking during rain and there was hole in the back seat body i had to get it repaired. Recently, water pump satrted leaking and while i am wrighting this its at the mechanic worshop he is asking 500$ for the replacement. I dont know but have very bad experience for this car, although it ran only 55000 miles when i bought it 1 and half before.

Strength:

Gas mileage Dependability Low-cost maintenance

Weakness:

Paint chips easily- buy touch-up paint from dealer when you buy car. Interior rubber / plastic poor quality. Seat fabric not great quality. Use a front-window shade in summer because the interior heats up to verryy high temperatures... but I live in Georgia.

I have very few complaints about my Protege. If oil is changed regularly and you follow the routine maintenance list in your owner's manual, you will find this car to be very dependable and maintenance-free. I currently have 65,000 miles and my Protege is four years old. I plan to drive it for 10 years. I am happy with my stereo... noticed that some other reviews found stereo to be poor. The interior part of the doors is not too great. One of my rear doors has "curling rubber" which causes the window to roll up slowly. (This is how a dealer described it) He did say that the problem is aesthetic and not dangerous.

Strength:

All things that have needed to be fixed are always minor, I've never had anything expensive break.

Weakness:

Stock speakers don't work very well anymore. Antenna wont move up and down anymore when you turn the car on and off.

This car has been in my family since it was brand new off the lot. It's a GREAT car! It still runs great with 130k miles on it. I think everyone should have a Honda in their car history. Hondas will last forever and run great! I'm going to keep this car until it wont go anymore!

A lot of these cars are in the junkyard, so parts can be cheap sometimes.

Weakness:

Badly designed.

Within two weeks of buying the car I had to replace the clutch and the transmission(no warranties).Three months past and now I need to replace the waterpump, fan, and timing belt. 2 weeks after that I needed to replace the carborator. 2 months after that the head gasket blows. 6 months later I replaced the front-right cv axle, boot, and bearings. After another 4 months, the head gasket blows(again) and I had to replace the alternator within the same week. Overall this car has not been very kind to me. I write this review because the head gasket has blown for the third time, and the water pump started to leak. I have taken a bat to it in the church parking lot!

Stylish, great gas mileage, comfortable interior, I love the red interior lights.

Weakness:

When I plug my cell phone charger into my lighter, I can't use the passenger cup holder. Minor inconvienance, but annoying.

I love my Mazdiva!!!!! She is the best car I've ever owned. She's the perfect combination of practical "mom-car" and sexy diva's drive. The people at Mazda are excellent to deal with and after a full year, I have no complaints at all. I got the sports package with the sun roof, alloy wheels, spoiler etc.
