Strength:

Sporty, great looking, good gas mileage, nice interior, I get many people still admiring the car, I am short and the car fits me just perfectly but my husband who is a little taller (5'10")almost touches the roof (when he had spiky hair, it used to talk the roof), great at passing on the highway, I had the greatest dealership...they were fantastic. Great handling, hugs the curves, Fun to drive, great price for what you get. I would recommend the car, just know that there are some little quirks. I love my car...I don't want to let it go.

Weakness:

The stereo gave me many problems (stopped working at least four times on very very cold days and each time the dealership would give me a new one...had to eventually put a stereo in myself), very small backseat (I usually don't put anyone back there because even short people have their heads touching the rear window), the tires that come with the Tiburon are horrible in the winter so for six years I have been putting winter tires on the car which has made all the difference...costly though. I am short and the car fits me just perfectly but my husband who is a little taller (5'10")almost touches the roof (when he had spiky hair, it used to talk the roof), small trunk (but I never carried anything that didn't fit, slow pick up but great at passing on the highway, in the winter the heater takes a long time to get going but it really never bothered me...my husband is irritated by that.

I have enjoyed owning this car. I am now selling the car after having it for six years because of an addition to the family. The backseat is very small and because it is a two-door it is not convenient to have a carseat in the back. With all of the weaknesses I am listing, I am truly going to miss this car. I have loved the car and I never was bothered by the weaknesses...but now that I am looking for a new car, I know what I don't want in a car.

Strength:

Decent in handling when making tight passing maneuvers

Weakness:

Seems structurally flimsy (i.e., sunroof problem), lots of engine lag in the shifting, poor acceleration off the line for a V6 standard

It took less than 24 hours for something to go wrong on my Tiburon. And it's just been a series of problems since.
On Day 2 of owning the car, I noticed the alignment was out of whack. I took it to service, and the toe was found to be out of spec.
In the meantime, I had noticed a rattling when the sunroof was open. I thought maybe this would go away after the first one or two times open. It just got worse. The day before I was scheduled to have that repaired, my low tire pressure indicator light went on.
The sunroof was found to be a manufacturer's defect. The tires were low on pressure. AFTER JUST 2 and 1/2 weeks?! Are you kidding me?
This is the absolute WORST car I have ever driven. Given all the problems I've had so far, I have ZERO confidence in this vehicle and certainly would not trust it on any long trips.
Three weeks in, only one phrase could sum up this new-car experience: A complete disaster.

Hatch rattles, but not a great problem

I have owned my 2004, silver,V6 automatic for two months and love it !

The Tiburon represents an opportunity to purchase a very stylish, indidividual and excellent value touring car. It is loaded with all the goodies: sunroof, power windows, locks, tilt etc, that make cruising a pleasure.

The engine has super torque, and whilst no super racer, is a beatiful beast and road tamer nonetheless. If your purpose is to enjoy your ride and not count the merits in terms of race stats, this is a great choice.

The interior build quality is ahead of class. It attracts approving glances wherever you go.

Strength:

Lots of room to carry stuff in the back with the seats down. Nice looking car.

Weakness:

When tilt wheel in lowest position it blocks the speedometer. Many blind spots, front end rattles and pulls to side when quick starting from dead stop. Electrical problems with door locks and drivers window. Fan knob loose feels and feels like it will fall off. Clutch releases near top, not uncomfortable to shift.

Happy with the vehicle except for the problems mentioned in my review.

Excillent car for the money you really can not get a better car packing the interior features and performance the car offers. Not a bad looking car either.

Strength:

Power, performance, styling, fun. You name it!

Weakness:

Maybe the clutch. Milage isn't fantastic, but it's a heckuva lotta fun getting bad milage in this car!

I absolutely love this car!!! I haven't had it even a month yet, so I'm sure this is a blindingly bias, rose-colored-glasses look at the car, but I could not be more happy with my purchase! This car just feels solid. It's a base model GT with a the V-6. Can you say "TORQUE"? I heard people dog the 6 for "only" having 170hp, but that stat is misleading. It has a ton of torque and it's geared really aggressively. I don't really care about 0-60 times (when does that ever come in handy in real life?), this car gets off the line FAST and passing power is plentiful. The handling on this car is tight, crisp, and controled. The steering has a very nice level of feedback. The brakes are good (I haven't had to stomp on them yet, but they seem up to the task). The clutch is a bit dull, but I'm still new to it, so it may take a little while to get the feel completely. Now, the important stuff: this car simply looks gorgeous. Just try to go anywhere and not turn heads! I honestly don't think there is a better looking car on the road for even twice the price. The lines are really smooth, and the updated front spoiler looks fantastic. The 17" alloys fill the wells really nice and the low profile tires have a good deal of bite. The interior is very comfortable. I really like the "sport grip" seating surface with the leather bolsters. The red stitching and metal accents make for a very well laid out and eye-pleasing interior. The seats are very comfortable for long trips (I drove out to the coast and back, which was about a 4 hour round trip), and they really hug you on the turns. All the controls feel very well laid out and within easy reach. Plus, chicks dig orange illuminate gauges! Insurance is costly, but that's to be expected with a sports car. It does guzzle gas, but the pain you feel at the pump is easily out-weighed by the pleasure you feel when you push down on that accelerator. BOTTOM LINE: As far as bang for the buck, this car is the hands-down champ. I highly recommend this car if you're looking for something sporty, fun, solid, and fast, you owe it to yourself to test drive the Hyundai Tiburon (just make sure you drive the V-6, trust me, you won't be sorry).

invest in something better, say, a pinto? or maybe (gasp) a ford etzel? sure its nice off the lot. and works well for 2 months. but after you see everything rattles, and the hyundai technicians know about as much as a puertorican- owned ferrari dealership, you may want to steer clear of this car.

Weakness:

please see my summary. I am not very thrilled with this car.

ok... I was looking for my first new car, and as soon as I saw this car and took it for a test drive, I fell in love with it. So, I bought it. I've had it for almost 2 years now ( and 106,000 kms)and I have so many mixed feelings about it. FIRST, my sunroof has broken 7 times, the dealership ended up changing the motor twice and programming it the rest of the time. At last, they just showed my how to program it (I have a question, SHOULD I HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO PROGRAM MY OWN SUNROOF?? SHOULDN'T IT WORK ALL THE TIME????)So, now, I have to program it about 5 times a year. Also, my sunshade got stuck in the slides last summer, they had to take it off and I haven't had it fixed yet. SECOND problem is that I had rust on my hydraulics in the trunk, they had to replace them. (really, it looks like they just painted over it), then I had rust all inside my door. The dealership was kind enough to repaint it for me. THIRD problem is that when driving the car, it's always rattling somewhere in the back. Dealership cannot find the problem so I have to live with it. I also find that this car is sooooo uncomfortable to drive in the winter. The dealership said that it is because it is cold. FOURTH problem is with my power windows on the driver side. It is dieing. On two occasions, the window stopped working while I was driving home and I had to drive all the way home ( a 1 hour drive) with the window open in a snow storm!! I was livid!!! FIFTH problem is with the fog lights, a few weeks ago, I parked my car and went to work, and someone called me to tell me that my fog lights were on, it turns out that my fog lights would not turn off. Usually they turn off when I turn off my car…. I think it’s something wrong with the wiring in my console. I ended up having to leave my fog lights on all day. Despite all my problems with this car and the constant visits to the dealership to get these little things fixed, At least I can remember that these are all little things that have gone wrong and at least my motor is running fine, (knock on wood). Overall, I’m not very thrilled with my car and am looking forward to trading it in, in the Fall. I pay 450 a month for this car (with a 4000 dollar deposit)

paint job, gear shift top wobbles, thin leather, rattling sunroof subwoof can't even tell it is there

Cheap price finding cheap car. Don't let the warranty fool you. They don't stand behind their product. Paint real cheap anything gets on your paint job the paint is gone. Bird droppings a major. Takes the paint right off the car told to expect this from the dealer they won't fix it. Have had many different new cars and have never had this happen before. Hyundia said not covered under warranty under it is an act of god. They really covered themselves with that clause also claim it is covered by the fallout idustrial, chemical exception don't get that but that is the Hyundia service lines stand. Told by dealer they have alot of Hyundia's in because of bird dropping eating the paint job not just the Tiburon and they won't pay to fix the problem. So if you want a new car that you need to pay to have repaint in the first 3 months go for it. Sunroof tends to rattle. Leather looks nice new but beginning to think leather real thin and not going to hold up long under use. Ignition also sticks so have to fight to start car at times. Has done this since 2 day of ownership
