Great mileage. Reliable.
Weakness:
It's no cadillac. Bought the car with 18000 miles on it. Had no problems until 85000 when it needed brakes, radiator fan and windshield wiper transmission. Only other expense was tires and oil. Needed O2 sensors and thermostat at 120000. Got 39 mpg when I drove it home from the dealer. At 134000 it still gets over 30 hwy. But it's pretty much dead as the AC compressor needs to be replaced for $800, needs more 02 sensors, and maybe fuel injectors for another $800. It burns 1 qt. oil every 1500 miles so it's not worth putting in $2000 worth of repairs. Still think it was worth it--$5000 for 6 years with only brakes, wiper trans., fan, thermostat and 02 sensors for a total repair bill of around $1,200. Slipped off the road in a snowstorm and Hyundai paid the towing bill to get the car out of the snowbank. Similar Products Used: Toyota Tercel |

I just wanted to tell anyone considering buying this car, that it is a great little thing. I loved mine, but had it for five months and got in a horrible rollover accident with it. While the car did not survive, i did survive with a few stiches and some bruises. Even though this car is real small it is very safe. I wish I could replace it with another just like it. |

honoring warranty Bought car new. Did all maintance required but some was done myself. Transmission burnt up at 89000 miles with no problems prior. Hyundai would not warranty problem. When i research it found there was alot of transmission problems. So I did not want those problems. People have been on 3rd transmission. Now all my years I've been driving never had transmission go esspecially when I bought car new and it had a warranty. so I will never touch another Hyundai. |

See above review Crap from the get-go. 30k Reverse gear disappeared.New tranny. 45k Paint spider cracked over roof and rear quarter panels (too much hardener in mix). New paint, but just on quarterpanels with cracks. Cheap. 55k wheel bearing. 80k wheel bearing. 130k 2 wheel bearings and tie rod. Now at 136k. Dash lights at night turn off and back on whenever they feel like it. The hatch open light is on 24/7. The drivers side window won't roll up properly since the winding cable is stretched. The rear window washer fluid doesn't reach the window. it leaks into the back seat compartment and dribble out the interior panel seams. The horn doesn't work. Spent more in the 5 years I've had this car than on all other cars (purchase and repairs). Hyundai Canada passed the buck to the dealer, the dealer passed the buck to Hyundai Canada. Absolute crap. Canada needs lemon laws to protect us against travesties like this happening. Similar Products Used: Nothing this crappy. |

I don't recommend this car. I inherited this car from my Great Aunt. At the time I received it, it had less than 30,ooo miles as it was driven from the Dr. and grocery store home. Not more than 3 months after receiving it 3 years old by that point, the transmission went out (warranty replacement). Less than one year later, fuel pump went out (not covered). Upon inspection, found the fuel injector rail bolts worked themselves out leaving just one holding the rail on. Now, fuel injectors must be replaced (costly), and the driver side axle is in need of replacing. Funny how everything breaks once the warranty expires, and not to mention important/costly repairs prior to warranty expiration. The thing that I don't understand is how a car sells for $8,000-$10,000 is so costly to repair. The fuel pump for example with parts and labor was nearly $800.00 unacceptable! |

OK stereo Fair gas mileage. I drive a lot at highway speeds (75+) and got about 28-30 mpg. Seat was comfortable for me.
Weakness:
Transmission After the early demise of my transmission (and I did have the dealer change the fluid according to the maintenance schedule)I started asking Accent owners in parking lots about their Accent. WAY too many complained about transmission problems. Multiple other sensor and electronic problems. Belts not very durable. I can't recommend an Accent. Way too much trouble. Overall, I never went more than 4 months without some type of repair. Transmission went at 82000 miles. Hopefully the newer Accents are improved. I have noticed that reviews from people that still love their Accent after the first year are not common compared to Toyota or Honda owners. I had a Chevy Sprint that was of much better quality and did not have the reliability problems. |

Good on gas-about 30mpg or so avg Drives/rides better than it should Does NOT feel cheap-even though it's so inexpensive Decent looks Adequate power and acceleration (5spd) They depreciate a lot...great for buying used! Very easy to drive.
Weakness:
cheap paint/scratches easy I ride my motorcycle 80% of the time here in CA but needed something cheap and reliable for the times when I need a car (errands, groceries, transport the dog...etc). I went to a used tent sale and found an '04 base 5spd Accent with only 4970mi and offered them $6500 for it and after some haggling....it was a done deal. A practically brand NEW car for $6500 w/tons of warranty left...you can't do much better. I wanted a 5spd since I don't trust the reliability of the automatic transmissions. Mine came with A/C, power steering, cassette/radio and nice cupholders and a clean title. Does NOT have keyless entry, remote trunk, or power anything, no CD....no frills. But I put about 6k mi a year on it so I don't care. I've put about 2500mi on it so far and it's been perfect. The 5spd gives it some pep and it just rides VERY well...especially for an economy car. I actually enjoy driving it. If I didn't ride motorcycles and was going to spend a lot more time in a car, I'd have spent extra and gotten the bigger, more plush Elantra but the Accent so far has been excellent. It's the best bang for the buck if you need cheap, reliable transportation in my opinion. Similar Products Used: Owned too many cars to list. |

dashboard is cracking, crack is getting bigger every year, seat is wearing out after 100000 miles This has been a really good car. It is the best car i have ever had, and it goes through snow like it is a 4WD. I have been meticulous about its maintenance, used only synthetic oil and stayed on top of changing the timing belt and hoses so that i wont have any problems there. I bought the car with 37000 miles on it, now have 121000. For being a california emission car it is quite peppy, and have had no problems at all out of the trans or the original clutch, which I will be replacing soon. I regularly get 38-40 mpg on the highway driving 70-80 mph. Similar Products Used: air cooled VW beetles, Karmann Ghias, 1976 toyota corrolla Rear wheel drive |
