Strength:
Good interior.
Weakness:
Weak engine. This car is way overrated. In case you haven't noticed I own and Intrigue. My friend owns the Accord. I would highly sugges avoiding the Honda Accord. Similar Products Used: 99' Oldsmobile Intrigue, has much better styling and an engine that is far more powerful. The Intrigue is a incredible combination of luxury and performance. |

Honda Accord coupe LX V6
Strength:
The interior is quiet even at interstate speeds. The radio is loud enough for me. The handling is competant going into curves. The engine is fairly smooth (except at idle and in Park or Neutral). The styling is nice from the side and back end. I like the power recline feature of the driver's seat. The brakes seem well balanced and have a good feel.
Weakness:
The transmission seems too "lazy" for the engine. It holds back most of the engine's willingness to put the power down to the pavement. Downshifts are slow and harsh (will it smooth-out as I put more miles on it?)The speedometer has a 8-11% high error in its reading. When I test drove the car at highway speeds the error in the speedometer's readout may have fooled me into thinking that the car was quieter and more nimble than may have been the case if it had an accurate speedometer reading. Was this "engineered" into the car? The ride seems a bit too choppy and stiff for me considering the amount of body roll prevelant. The engine management system seems to "nullify" any gains in performance if any modifications are done to its intake side. Is this engineered into this car to promote longevity? Performance aftermarket says that this transmission is "weak" so power-adders (ie, turbos and superchargers) will not be available for enthusiasts. The tires are kinda skinny and noisy, but I am glad that they are V speed rated. No factory speed limiter needed, yipee! I paid $20,400 for this LX 2dr. with mudflaps, floormats, and daytime running lamps. But the dealer botched the financing terms about 1 week after I took it home; I had to go back and refinance it at different terms (the previous terms were impossible to go through with according to the credit union). This raised my monthly payment by over $92!! That was a blow to my finances. I would recommend this car to anyone who is conscienscious of resale value and who wants a quicker build-up of equity into a vehicle that is on a payment plan. Otherwise, the car is a competant performer in the V6 versions of the coupe. There seems, however, to be some quality issues with this US manufactured vehicle as compared to its main import rivals (vapor lock, rear control arm failures, and others). Go to the NHTSA website for more information about Honda recalls and consumer complaints. I can only hope that mine is a good one (3,600 miles and counting). So far as those who shouldn't buy a new Honda Accord coupe...DON'T buy one if you: want muscle car performance, a cushy-soft ride, stunning looks, true japanese import quality (this Honda is US made), easy ingress/egress from the back seat in a coupe, want a 5-speed tranny (buy the Camry Solara SE), or otherwise just don't want a car but an SUV or a truck! OK, 'nuff said. Similar Products Used: 1999 Ford taurus with 200 hp Duratec V6. 1988 Mustang GT 5.0 5 speed (0-60-> 6.4 seconds). 1997 Ford Taurus SHO. This Honda is quicker (my best 0-60-> 7.7 seconds) than most any 5.0L Mustang with an automatic that I have ever driven, what a surprise! But it cannot compete with Mustangs with a 5-speed. The SHO ( 0-60-> 7.8 seconds) is not really any quicker up to speeds of 110 mph as compared with this Honda and cannot take a corner as well, either. But the SHO outperforms the Honda at highway passing speeds (downshifting and "scoot" ability). The SHO has a much smoother automatic transmission. The 1999 Taurus is outclassed in most every respect except with the automatic transmission, that Ford tranny seemed very well matched up with the Duratec engine (200 hp: quickest 0-60-> 8.1 seconds; it is a 4100 pound car, you know). |

Honda Accord EX-R
Strength:
Everything. The gas mileage is agreeable, stereo is good, braking is very good, acceleration is decent for a 4-cylinder (automatic), Vtec kicks in noticably at 70 km/h or higher, steering is smooth, leather interior is sweet. Very nice entry level luxury car. The Accord is at its best here, in the EX-R model.
Weakness:
Even with a little spoiler, it is difficult to look behind me to see if there is a car in my blindspot. The rear is pretty high. Aside from this, the car is just perfect....a young mans car with a touch of class. A young man could drive this as well as a corporate businessman. I would recommend this car to everybody. Well, maybe not those who like speed. If hitting 60 mph is your thing in 4 to 6 seconds, dont get this car. If speed is not what your looking for, then this car is the boom. Chick magnet, trust. Wear a suit and get out of this and they swoon!!!!!TRUST ME!!!! :) Similar Products Used: I drove a 87 Cavalier (hunk of CRAP) for awhile and the transition to this vehicle was like a gift from heaven. |

Honda Accord 4dr LX
Strength:
good suspention handles way better than any other Jap Sedan on the road. Nicely builb Engine, Although more power would've been nice. But 130hp from a non-VTEC engine is enough for daily commute. You won't have the deal with VTEC means you get most power at lower RPM. (VTEC needs high rev to kick in). Very nice interior details. Good sound system, Pioneer speakers. Most the electricaly parts in the car are made by Alpine, include the stereo. 15in tires functions better than 14in on Camry but larger tires and rims would been nicer.
Weakness:
need more power. road noise, and engine noise in idle. I definitely recommand this car to anyone. Even the younger generations. It's a good beginner's car as well as a good daily transportations. You won't fell asleep in this car like you would in Camry or 626. Add in some mods, intake, header and exhaust and this car will give you all you want. Power Power Power. I have seen Non-Vtec engine with mods that produce around 160hp-170hp, a lot fun to drive. I bought mine new in 97 for 16700 (include tax, tag, etc). You can get a used one with low mileage for around 12000. plus about 1 grand in mods. If money isn't much a problem. Go for the EX model they have better interior and their 145 VTEC engine will add little more fun in your daily driving. Similar Products Used: 95 Galant 96 Camry |

EX V6 Coup:
Weakness:
Needs a manual transmission If you get the REAL price off of this site or Edmunds or something like it and stick to your guns, you can come away a couple of grand under the MSRP. This was going to be my Civic EX replacement car and I couldn't have be happier. It IS NOT now or will ever be a car for the stoplight dragstrip--the automatic alone takes care of that. It accelerates well, handles OK, brakes OK and feels like a car $15,000 more expensive. If you want a higher-performance version of it, leave the aftermarket parts alone and buy the Acura CL-S for only $5000 (MSRP) more--but try and find a dealer that will deal on one of these! I was looking at the VW Jetta GLX and the Saab 9-3 and this car beat them on every point (except for the lack of a manual, d**m d**m d**m). These two are better handling cars and smaller outside (important in the city), but overall the Honda reliability won the day. Also the fact that the Honda is better equipped than either--VW and Saab (and Subaru worst of all!) have learned the Detroit lesson of long option lists. I'd rather have a car they included everything on the first time. Similar Products Used: Infiniti G20--EX has larger interior, less firm brakes |

EX V6
Strength:
Overall quality and features vs price. Reliable.
Weakness:
Paint scratch easily. Having access to most luxury cars can really set your standards high but in the end this is what I drive. It has all the features you need for convenience sake and enough power to race most cars on the freeway. Racers would complain but I'd say the driver holds 70% of the outcome. Spending any more would get you luxury and power but I'm a practical and somewhat cheap guy. So far I have not had a single problem and it's 32000 miles. Using STP Complete Fuel Cleaner at 30000 miles restored the HP that I've been missing (actual effect, not placebo). BTW, I wonder why everyone who posted from Texas has similar misspells and a bone to pick with Japanese cars. Similar Products Used: All except, Audi, Volkswagen, Saab. |

Comfortable ride for it's size. quiet engine, nice layout of the controls.
Weakness:
Not enough power (150 horses). But I also own a 98' Millenia S, so I have pretty high standard. I bought it coz I need a reliable car for daily commute on I40. Past experience of Hondas give me confidence in this car. The style is attarctive, the price is reasonable, and it will last me many troublefree years . I know what I need and I am sure I will be happy with it. Similar Products Used: 93 Civc Cpe. 98 Mazada Millenia S. They are not of the same class. Don't like Toyota Camary's style (too plain). |

Strength:
Handles great. Looks sharp. Very good gas milage. Very comfortable for driver and passengers alike. Huge trunk space. Very fast in second and third gears.
Weakness:
Sun roof rattles. This can be stopped temporarally by greasing the gasket. The dealer has a service report that calls for a repair of weather stripping tape. I think that this is Mickey Mouse on a new car and that Honda should come up with a slightly stiffer gaskes and provide it to their customers on warrantee. I wanted a car with a reputation for reliability. My wife and I purchased this car when we were trying to convince ourselves to buy a Saab. We had a bad experience with an Isuzu IMark RS, (blackmail when it came time to get parts, etc.). We found this car and both agreed that it would be a smarter move to buy the Honda. We thought that there would be less chance of having future trouble. We do not want to have a love, hate relationship with a car. We have put 6,000 miles on the Accord and so far purchasing it seems to have been the right decision to make. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Gas economy, A/C, ride, stereo (6 disc changer--I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU OPT FOR A CHANGER). Tons of storage and cubby holes. Nice build quality and little touches. Trunk space was awesome.
Weakness:
It was a black car and seemed to chip firly easy. I was fanatical about keeping the car clean but it was very time consuming. Car looked like new every single day but if you looked close you could see the little scratches. Slow shifting auto transmission out of 1st gear. Cabin noise. I loved just about everything. Great mileage. VERY comfortable for road trips. Absolutely no mechanical problems for 50,000 miles. I would have bought another Honda Accord had I had the $$$. Great car before it was wrecked. car was totalled but I was kept safe. Airbags worked. Similar Products Used: ride and power are similar to my 2001 Mustang. |
