Accord V6
Strength:
200 HP
Weakness:
Everything I mentioned above, plus some minor stuff that doesn''t need mentioning. I bought the Accord since I''ve heard and read so many great things about it....reliablity ecspecially. Well, so far I haven''t been impressed. I drive about 600 miles per week and I have 77,000 miles right now. Oil changes regularly and I''ve had the 30,000 and 60,000 major maintenance done. So far I''ve had the car in 3 times for emission problems (engine light comes on) and each time its cost around $200 to fix. One of those was refunded due to the EGR extended warranty. I first noticed an oil leak around 40,000 mi. While in the shop for the 3rd engine light a couple of weeks ago the dealership called back and asked if I wanted the oil leak checked on. I told them to go ahead since its been leaking awhile. $922 later its apparently fixed. The oil was leaking from around 2 bolts in the oil pump housing. The mechanic used J-B weld to take care of the problem. I don''t think that is the proper way to fix the leak, but who am I? Anyway, to get to the oil pump the entire side of the engine has to be taken apart. Labor cost killed me. In my opinion, there is now way that oil should be leaking from around these bolts. To sum it up, Honda....I''m not impressed! Anybody else with similar problems? |

Farily roomy nice interior/exterior good ride quality.
Weakness:
not a weakness, but I still would have liked the additional power with the V6 I bought this car for my Dad and have never regretted the decision ever since. This is our 3rd honda in the family, but this is the first time it we bought a brand new one. I wanted to get the V6, but my father insisted that he would rather have the 4 cylinder. This is our long trip ride, and I must say despite it being a 4 cylinder, it still does really well with 5 passengers and a trunk full. Very smooth ride, tend to hit high speeds without knowing it. Wind noise is an absolute minimum. When I am ready to buy my next car, I would strongly consider the 2 door V6, too bad they don''t have the V6 in manual. We have had it for 2 years and so far not a single problem Similar Products Used: Toyota Corolla, 92 accord, 87 Accord |

Strength:
1. Has to be one of the most refined 4 cylinder motors out there. 2. Decent mileage (30 mpg +). 3. Ability to drive this car at 90 with exceptional confidence. 4. Super suspension - I hope Honda does not do away with the Wishbone setup like they did in the new Civic. It rides very well and handles sweet! 5. Roomy without being a boat. 6. Clean styling. This car is still gonna look great as it ages (like most Hondas do). 7. It''s a Honda, and there is really nothing more that I can say. To truly appreciate one, you need to own one.
Weakness:
The 5 spd is pretty good, but a little notchy, especially for Honda. I also have come to accept that the paint scratches easily, especially on the bumpers! Not sure why Honda can''t get this taken care of. Also, I question the dealer "add ons". Many of them should be standard, such as floor mats, and the dealer charges an unbelievable amount for them. Shop for accessories on-line if you need them and want to save 1/3 to 1/2 off of list. This is my fourth Honda, and am just delighted with this 5 spd EX. The quality is exceptional, and the car does absolutely everything well. Please believe me that you can''t go wrong with Honda. I''ve driven so many different domestics over the years, and the reliability and durability fade away about the same time the factory warranty does. Strength:
Roomy interior. Hudge trunk (bigger than the competitive camry''s). Very good visability Very accomidating front area for driver & front seat passenger. When the heater is on, it''s really hot. 40k miles- haven''t followed maintence schedule since 17k miles, car is still running decently (but I''m going in ASAP to get up to date on the maintenence) Can''t tell the difference in going 55mph or 90mph Lights on the vanity mirrors maps lights for people up front Very roomie passanger side
Weakness:
My pop up sunroof doesn''t look as "cool" as I''d like. I only have 40,000 miles on it and I need new rear brakes. Having the air conditioning on makes it idle weird. I feel off centered in to the steering wheel. Average of 28-30 mpg - I''m an easy driver Overall, I love the interior of my car. The factory stereo is cool, I have a special little holder for my glasses/sunglasses/cellphone by my sunroof, pockets to hold napkins/trash/anything I want, on the doors. The interior color shows just about everything on the Heather mist sedan. I have a touchy back, my seats aren''t too bad on me, they adjust in different ways. When I wash my car it looks brand new and makes me feel luxurious. Similar Products Used: Toyota Camry. I like it better how my Accord''s dash is sportier and the controls are bigger. The Camry gets better gas milage. |

none-the perfect car! We bought this car brand new and I absolutely love it. It has 85,000 miles and still runs great. I haven''t had to take it to the shop for anything yet except oil changes and new tires! My mom bought this car and drove it for a few years before giving it to me. The reason she bought it was so that I could drive it for several years withough having any problems since I am a poor college student(!!). I''m soooo glad she did. Accord Coupe EX V6
Strength:
Nice styling, good engine reliability, good gas mileage.
Weakness:
A/C - NEVER gets cold, brake pads too soft, window defroster is a joke. Didn''t have the pleasant "Honda experience" that most owners have enjoyed. Overall not a bad car, just more problems than I expected from a Honda in spite of following maintenance schedule. Power door locks failed twice, air conditioner (evacuator) had to be replaced twice, ABS brakes failed, trunk latch failed, glove comparement door broke, balance shaft seal failed (later recalled) after leaving me stranded with no oil in the engine and $1,000.00 bill, and brake pads need replacing every 20K. Just bought a 2002 Durango and I no longer get run off by the road! Similar Products Used: Honda Prelude |

Accord EXVL Coupe
Strength:
Very comfortable, great handling and ride quality. Excellent pickup and acceleration at highway speeds. Pretty quiet, though not totally silent. EX sound system is fine.
Weakness:
Gas mileage only 21-22; I hope for better (though I don''t drive 55). Will be redesigned in ''03 - but don''t be sure it will look any better. This is an excellent car. It is comfortable, roomy, and feels totally solid. I compared it hard against the redesigned Camry and also the new Altima. In my book, the Accord gets the top honors. I really wanted to like the Camry but IMO it''s styled like a large blob and I could not get comfortable in it. Also consider value: I have leather, sunroof, V6, traction control, side airbags, ABS and multi-disc CD in dash for $23k. A similar Camry would be thousands more, so would an Altima. In the end, the Altima felt cheaper with lower grade materials and the orange dash lights reminded me of a long gone 1980 Subaru GL I once owned. Similar Products Used: Camry, Altima |

Strength:
Impressive build quality, sure-footed handling, very capable suspension, perfect ergonomics, unmatched reliability, and delivers GREAT peace-of-mind.
Weakness:
4-cylinder has plenty of oomph under, say, 70mph, but over that, the tall gearing of the transmission takes over. This is just a plain Jane Accord LX, the mainstream bread and butter of the Accord lineup. It is well equipped yet lacking the gizmos that American Auto Makers INSIST on putting in their cars. And I am happy to say that I am GLAD that there aren''t that many gizmos on this car. Similar Products Used: 2000,1997,1995,1993 Accord |
