Strength:

Good suspension (Good ride -Straight line only). Smooth V6 Good interior quality

Weakness:

Terrible Transmission for V6 Engine are placed too much to the front which create nose diving effect when brake (bad designed) Horrible brakes Boring looks Noisy (need more insulation)

I currently have approx. 40000 mi. Had oil leak on the trans. @ 22,000mi, plus had brake pads replaced at the same time. At 40000 mi. Just dropped off the car to dealer again because of the Trans. leak. Dealer said there are no leakage!! Bunch of baloney!! Basicaly I hate driving V6 hondas. I do not like the way it brakes. (nose diving every time which make it hard to drive smoothly). Brakes need to replace frequently. Transmission just shifts horrible which make me feel: where does 200 hp came from?? To me, i feel that I'm paying the maitenence cost more frequenlty on Hondas than my old nissans. Would not recommend /will not buy Hondas again. "Hondas Reliabilities come from frequent maintenances".

Weakness:

We bought this car because of all the good things people said. It was and still is the second worst product we ever bought (the worst is a refurbished cordless phone I got off the net). In the shop 4 times (check engine light) before it reach 750 miles. Fit and finish is below average. Ride like a go cart. I close the trunk two times and twice stuffs fell out of it. One time is a wire harness (dealer still don''t know where it goes) the other time is the reflector plate behind the reverse light. $23000 for a V6 vehicle w/ all the bells and whistles, so we were not expecting a lot, but it didn''t even up to our low expectation. My significant other refuse to drive it after 1 month, and she''s the one pressing to get an Accord. Comparing to our 2000 Rodeo w/big tires and heavier body, performancewise the Honda, I think is around 125 HP (200HP for Honda vs 205 for Isuzu). Either Honda or Isuzu is lying about their numbers.

We made a promise to ourselves that we will never buy another Honda product.

Strength:

Bought partially on the reputation of Honda. My last one lasted a long time. I like the interior, no noice and all components integrated well. The tires are H rated Michelin, great ride, adn the EX came loaded

Weakness:

Paint looks like it might scratch easily and the body shape of the Accord is not remarkable.

First Honda since 1983 Accord. This Honda does exactly what I expected it to do. Rides nice, good gas mileage and all components work.

Model Reviewed: Accord EX

Strength:

Reliable, good fuel economy (27 mpg overall), Honda''s are easily customizable with aftermarket parts.

Weakness:

Automatic transmission shifts harshly and dimishes full use of VTEC, rather heavy car for a 4 cylinder engine, several passengers weigh it down a lot, stock tires need to be replaced, fails performance-wise when compared with Nissan Maximas or the much more costly German sedans (of course). However, it is one of the most problem free cars money can buy :)

If you need a reliable car that holds it''s value and will last you a long time, definitely consider an Accord. If you want a sporty sedan with a good deal of power, look elsewhere. After 60,000 miles, I have only had to replace the b-pipe on the stock exhaust. Otherwise, just regular maintenance. It handles fairly well (after replacing stock tires) and you get an overall sense of quality from driving it day in, and day out. Service from my Honda dealer has been great.

Strength:

Good passing power, smooth ride

Weakness:

Needs more low-end oomph and a manual transmission. Squeaking sunroom (almost univeral problem). No power passenger seat. No adjustable seat belts (see above).

My third Honda, the fourth Honda my family has owned. The build quality peaked with my 90 Civic and has slowly slid since. However, this is the first Honda I''''ve owned that had power without having to row the transmission to death. And it is a dream on long trips! Watch the automatic transmission. It is made by Honda, and acc''''d to a lot of posts on edmund.com there was a bad batch of them on 2000 Accords. This could be a real problem as the 2000''''s become used cars, if Honda won''''t offer an extended fix. Why, oh why does the Odessy (sp) van with the 3.0 liter V6 get 210 hp, the base Acura CL get 220-230 and this car only 200? Honda has a passion for well-built cars with efficient, small engines--why won''''t they offer some real-world power? And why not a manual transmission? I know, I know, only about 15% of the buying public wants one (and most of those are on econoboxes). But the Accord V6 is a specialty car, why not speciality equipment. The car rattles more than I would like, and the body flexes over rough pavement (of which there is plenty here in Chicago). For a coupe there should be more rigidity, not less. The bass response of the stereo is awful! This is not a subjective judgement, I ran a frequency sweep with a test CD and my sound pressure level meter and it doesn''''t have any low bass. The powered subwoofer would help, when Honda finally offers it but for the $300-500 that it would cost I am going to try some better speakers. NOTE: VERY IMPORTANT! The V6 Sedan has adjustable shoulder straps and a power passenger seat--THE V6 COUPE DOES NOT!!! If your wife/SO/date wants that, BUY THE SEDAN. Honda really cheesed out on this one--their web site and car reviews were weak on this point. And if you are short like I am, the shoulder straps cut across your throat, not the collarbone where it should. I''''ll be notifying Honda about this one by registered mail! None the less, the whole car is a wonderful buy and ride and I bought one!

Strength:

great acceleration (the v6 makes a night and day difference for the accord as compared to the v4) luxurious ride combined with decent handling quiet interior with only moderate road noise excellent build quality

Weakness:

gas guage does not read correctly (I will not have it repaired b/c my car was purchased "as is no warranty" and the dealer means it.

I purchased my 1998 Honda Accord and have been delighted with it so far. I would love to own a BMW 7 series but since my wallet will not allow that, I find my Accord a more than adaquate compromise since a smooth quiet ride combined with good handling and spirited acceloration are important to me. My previous Honda accord survived alot of hard use as I used it to deliver pizzas. My previous honda performed that duty admirably but my present 1998 Honda will never be used that way.

Model Reviewed: Honda Accord Special Edition

Strength:

- Roomy interior - Accessible controls - Honda Reliability - Economical for the price (the dealers will usually discount as Honda is coming out with a redesigned Accord next year). The Special Edition packages with the low low lease and finance rates make the car a great bargain. - Comfortable ride - Easy to drive - Great visibility from the driver''s seat

Weakness:

- I expect that the paint finish to be as weak as the one on the 1998 Civic - Mileage not as low as I expected - Mushy brakes - Few thrills - Looks boring - like a bigger Civic

I got the 150 hp 4 cylinder 2002 Accord Special Edition for the following reasons: 1. Honda Reliability 2. Low cost 3. Great mileage The Accord is a bit boring to look at (like a bigger Civic) but it drives better than expected. There is a bit of a lag in the automatic transmission when accelerating from gear to gear but still better than the automatic transmission in the Mercury Villager and Chrysler Reliant! The acceleration times are fair, it doesn''t take much effort to get from 0 to 60 km/h. The brakes are so-so, a little mushy. However, the mileage is lower than expected, it appears I can get twice the mileage on the same amount of gas in a Honda Civic (manual transmission), I was only expecting to get 1.5 times the mileage. The interior is well designed with everything accessible. The seats at the front and back are roomy and the headroom is actually quite reasonable. Visibility from the driver''s seat is great. All in all, the car is very well designed and economical, I have few gripes. If the car is as reliable as my 1998 Honda Civic (four years and it needed no work except a brake pad replacement and oil changes) then it is a great bargain.

Horrible gas mileage, rattles and squeeks, location of window buttons are bad for tall people, tilt wheel sucks, sunroof doesn''t open all the way due to the use of the 4-door sun roof system and cruise control buttons do not belong on the steering wheel. To name but a few.

Strength:

Honda reliability. Fuel Economy. VTEC engine which maintains fuel economy even if the rpm is taken higher than 4000 on a regular basis. Styling, compared to rivals like Camry.

Weakness:

First and foremost weakness is the gear changes. First and the second gears have a jerk to them while shifting. If you drive a Camry 4 cylinder model, the gear shifting is very smooth, so smooth that it doesnt feel that you are driving a 4-cylinder. Accord on the other hand, gives you a very minor jerk, in the first two gears after that the shifting is smooth. Secondly, a minor thing, but the digital clock has no light and does not have illuminous display. This becomes annoying at night when you have to turn the interior lights on to see the time. Surely you could wear a wrist watch, and it would be easier. Honda should bring back the digital clocks that were there in the models prior to 1998.

There are many mid-size family sedans these days and competition is very high. I choose a Honda, because I had heard that Honda is no. 1 in reliability. I have a 2000 Accord LX 4 cylinder model. This is one of the most popular sedans out there. It leads many, in aspects such as fuel economy, interior space and styling. I leased a 1999 Pontiac GrandAM before this car, which also falls under this category. Comparing the two cars, (I have nothing against the GrandAM owners), first thing you notice is the interior space. Sitting in an accord, you feel that this car is roomy. GrandAM has not enough room partly because of its bulky interior dash. The quality of material used also is cheap in GrandAM then in Accord. I had a 3.4L V6 version in GrandAM, and that car had power. You could feel the torque as soon as you touched the accelerator pedal lightly. Accord being a 4-cylinder doesn’t have that feel. I have 75,000km (46000 miles) on this car. It runs like the first day I bought it. GrandAM once reached 20,000km (13,000 miles) started making interior noises. I always had the feeling that the dash screws were getting loose. Over all, I would recommend this car to the people who are shopping around for a mid-sized car. You get Honda reliability which is one of the reason you would want to own this car rather then lease an other make.

warranty. I made the mistake of buying this car as is with no warranty. For around $1000.00 more, I could have purchased a certified preowned honda accord. For example, after I purchased the car, I noticed the cd player did not work. I had to fight with the dealer (and thanks to a longstanding relationship with the service dept personnel)to get a replacement cd player. I mentioned to Walsh that the front tires are nearly bald and they refused to replace them. the dealer means it when they say as is no warranty

I bought this car because of the impressive power, ride, and luxury as a replacement for my 1990 honda accord ex My 90 had 245k on the odometer and b/c I had used it for seven years of pizza delivery, the engine and transmission needed replacement prematurely. The service dept quoted me 6k for a good used engine and I opted to purchase the 98 honda. I love the car but will not buy another one from walsh honda in macon ga.
